You will feel the difference when you walk in the door to the Gents Quarters. First the atmosphere. Then they will offer you a drink from their fully stocked bars. That is all before you get to the hair cut. Zach made great conversation during my appointment and the end product (which by the way this was for my wedding) was perfect. So, just to make sure my trip to Franklin Lakes wasn't a complete waste of time, I made an appointment for my first haircut. I said, it was very nice. Now I'm trying to make my next appointment and no one's answering the phone. The message tells me to just, "go to 'DemandForce' to make an appointment." Okay. So I go to demandforce.com, and it's the corporate site of a firm that helps businesses with online marketing. There's absolutely nothing to do with CGQ on the site, other than a screenshot of how a "salon" could use DemandForce to integrate their appointment scheduling into their Yelp page (hint, hint CGQ?). I finally turned to Google for help, searching for "demand force chateau salon." That brought me to a local.demandforce.com page with a "Schedule an Appointment" button and more reviews. I would have gladly given CGQ 4-5 stars if not for the hoops I've had to jump through just to give them my business. Whoever's responsible for CGQ's web site needs to get the "Schedule an Appointment" button integrated into the site, and whoever does their Yelp page needs to put it there too. And as for the answering machine message, set up a FREE TinyURL shortened link to the scheduling page and provide that instead of just saying "go to DemandForce." I give a slight edge to Damien in the skills department but you really can't go wrong with either. The location is large, very clean, and because it's in a strip mall, parking is a breeze. I'm not sure how things worked prior to COVID but they're currently only taking reservations (no walk-ins) and do not have a website. You can book online if you go through a link on their Instagram page though. My criticism is that i've experienced a number of places in NYC that for $20-25 you get the same quality haircut but also a hot towel and are offered a beer or shot while you wait. They have neither and were charging $30 when I got my first two cuts there. Their prices are now up to $40. There's a ton of independent barbers around Bergen county (and NYC) with excellent reviews that are still charging $25 for a great haircut. I typically get my haircut every 4-6 weeks so I can't justify a $40 haircut, especially at an average no-thrills barbershop.
