Breastfeeding With Grace - My sweet untied little one happily playing with her tongue!

Breastfeeding With Grace

I can't say enough good things about Grace. I thank her for my baby and my success with…read morebreastfeeding. What she was able to do in the 2.5 hours of our first meeting far exceeded what all others were able to do in the 2.5 weeks of my daughter's life. Grace was the third lactation consultant I saw after the help during our hospital stay from birth. From the beginning, my daughter struggled to latch on and breastfeed. It was very important to me that I would breastfeed due to all of the benefits. At the hospital I was given some guidance (to the best of their abilities) and a nipple shield to help with her latching. The lactation consultant only saw me on the last day, although I had requested to see her before during my stay. I ended up getting a lactation consultant to come to my house a week after giving birth. There she told me my child was tongue tied. Although tongue tied children can breastfeed, unfortunately my daughter couldn't. By this point the pediatrician already had me pumping and supplementing her with a bottle of the breast milk I pumped and formula. This was devastating to me and I also felt that my milk supply was starting to be impacted as she wasn't demanding it. The lactation consultant was fine but I didn't feel as though I was getting much help. I saw a second lactation consultant who confirmed the tongue tied and seconded the opinion to see a pediatric dentist who specializes in infants and children with tongue ties. Long story short, my husband and I (after multiple consultations and referrals) opted to release our daughter's tongue tie that same week. I saw the first lactation consultant again when my daughter was two weeks old, and again didn't get much help to feel as though things were changing. She also told me that I didn't have much of a milk supply. At this point I took the advice of a friend who was helped by Grace with both of her children and called Grace. Grace was very honest and caring. She initially was hesitant to see me because she didn't want to confuse me as I was already working with another consultant. I convinced her to see me (which also gave me confidence that she was someone who wasn't just going to see me for the business - as implied in other reviews). I saw her two days later. Grace calmed my nerves and gave me the confidence that I needed. She ensured that things would get better and would work with me until they were working. First, I loved that she was hands on. She helped me properly position my daughter and get her to appropriately latch on. It was the first time I was able to get her to breastfeed without a shield and she helped me do it so quickly. She also helped show me that I actually was producing plenty of milk for my daughter. She spoke to me for almost three hours, something I found so wonderful as the others seemed to be on a clock and more eager to speak to me via text or email. I saw Grace two more times after the first visit. She help confirm the healing of the tongue release and continued to support and give me confidence while breastfeeding. Because of her help, my daughter is growing and thriving off of just my breast milk fed directly from breastfeeding. Grace does more than just show you proper technique. She provides love, compassion and knowledge. She gave me an invaluable gift, one she stressed on every time. She helped me continue to create a foster a strong bond between my daughter and me. She encourage to not focus on timelines and spreadsheets, but to enjoy the bond that breastfeeding creates between a mother and child. I see Grace as a mother, grandmother, friend, and guru of breastfeeding and raising a baby. I recommend her to anyone and would see her again if our next child also has similar issues. Thank you, Grace!!!

I knew…read moremy third would also, and I was quite anxious about the thought of not succeeding this time, so when seeking out a Lactation consultant, I happened across Grace's info. She made mention that she specialized in tongue and lip ties. I knew I needed to call right away and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I met Grace, she was warm and caring and made me feel safe, and encouraged me. She confirmed what I knew to be, and unlike my last two experiences with tongue and lip tie releases, I had her to walk me through the entire process. She came to the pediatric dentist with me, and was in the procedure with my baby, when I couldn't be. She helped me at follow up appointments with checking his wounds to ensure I was doing correct wound care, and then helping me improve his latch. I've never felt so cared for, and supported, and you can just see how much Grace absolutely loves her work and how passionate she is about helping mothers and babies successfully breastfeed! I would recommend Grace to ANYONE who is looking for a Lactation consultant. She has been doing this for many years, and works with some incredible doctors, who I'm also glad to have been connected with. Baby is feeding SO well now, pain is gone, and I'm producing a magnificent amount of milk! I honestly feel like I may just have the most successful journey yet, with this baby, and it truly is all thanks to Grace! If you're experiencing pain, or baby isn't latching, or you're concerned with milk supply, PLEASE call Grace. She will be able to help!

My daughter has undergone a wide range of dental treatments--from pulpotomies under anesthesia to, most recently, having a cavity filled in-office with just local anesthesia. Dr. Spencer's gentle and caring approach has made all the difference--she has zero fear of the dentist. In fact, when asked if she got a shot today, she wasn't even sure (and she definitely did!). That speaks volumes about the level of care and comfort he provides. We've been with this practice for over a year now, and at five years old, my daughter truly enjoys her visits. I was referred to Dr. Corbin Smith by my lactation specialist, who had rave reviews about both his…read morework and his bedside manner, as well as the fact that he offers tongue-tie releases at a very reasonable cost. After our experience with him, I completely understand why she recommended him. I was impressed from the very beginning. Dr. Smith schedules a full hour for the consultation at no charge and with absolutely no pressure to move forward with the release. He took his time explaining the procedure, what we could expect if we chose to do it, and what we might expect if we decided not to. I was very nervous about putting my daughter through the procedure, and he helped me feel much more comfortable that the experience would likely be easier on her than I was imagining. We decided to move forward with the release. Parents aren't in the room during the procedure, so as soon as they told me I could come back, I rushed in expecting my daughter to be very upset. Instead, I found her perfectly content, bouncing in the nurse's arms. She wasn't crying or visibly distressed. I nursed her for a few minutes and she quickly fell asleep. That was an enormous relief for me. Dr. Smith was also very thorough about aftercare, including Tylenol dosing and exactly how to do the stretches so everything would heal properly. They gave me a number I could call or text with questions, including after hours when messages go directly to the doctor. Before I even had a reason to use it, Dr. Smith reached out himself that evening to check on my daughter. I did contact him with questions on a couple of occasions afterward, and he was always quick to respond and helpful. I also really appreciate that follow-up care is built into the process. We have two follow-up visits to make sure everything is healing correctly. I was nervous going into that first check, so it was a huge relief to hear that she was healing well, we were doing the stretches correctly, and everything was on track. Now, two weeks later, my daughter is barely fazed by the stretches, just as Dr. Smith told us would happen. Even better, we are already seeing such a difference with breastfeeding. She is transferring much more milk in less time, getting less frustrated, and no longer having to work so hard to compensate while feeding. I'm very grateful for how carefully Dr. Smith and his team handled the entire experience. From the consultation and procedure to the accessibility afterward and the follow-up care, I felt like my daughter was genuinely well taken care of.

He was incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and never pressured us either way -- he simply educated us on our options so we could make the best decision for our family. Since our son did not have insurance, the total cost was a straightforward $600 flat fee, which included the procedure and follow-up visits. Now, about 10 weeks post-procedure, our son is doing exceptionally well and breastfeeding like a champ :) We are very grateful for Dr. Smith's care and would absolutely recommend him to other families navigating similar feeding challenges.
