My dad was there for 9 mos until he became ill and was transported by a 911 aid car to the hospital. Several days prior he was coughing, shivering, and completely out of sorts. When I visited the day before he He had mucous all over his shirt and was so cold. I expressed my concern to the nurse in charge (weekend help, I guess.). She then force fed him and entire glass of milk which he choked on. I was appalled. I asked the staff to change his clothes and please let me know if he needed further medical attention or did not show improvement. I couldn't sleep that night and called early the next morning. I was told his temperature had gone up to 104.5! The nurse that day, a different one I might add, said she had forwarded report to the doctor. However, it was a Sunday and he wouldn't be getting back to anyone until Monday. I was shocked and asked for 911 to be called. She was reluctant, but did so. He arrived at the hospital with pneumonia, a severe bladder infection, low hemoglobin(he required 2 pints of blood,) and dehydration. He died shortly thereafter.
We should have moved him months before, but were told several times they were sorry for every mistake and assured us it would never happen again. He lost weight, was soiled when we would visit, and on more than one occasion I would visit close to lunchtime and find him still in bed from the night before meaning there would be no breakfast. His room wreaked of urine!
I would never recommend Rosewood to anyone for an elderly person with diminished capacity. They talk the talk, but have trouble walking the walk. read more
