I like my drinks stiff and my convenience stores meanderingly mysterious, so this should be a four-star review. But it's not. And I don't drink, so that stiff-drinks comment was just a prosodic come-on. I do love me some meanderingly mysterious stores of whatever ilk, be they book- or liquor or convenience or corner, and Rosenberg's Market does have some cool boardwalk-style discover-your-section-by-following-the-flooring action going on, so no matter what else my experience, this should be a three-star review. But it's not. Look, the guy was friendly and wished me luck on my Power Ball tickets, which convenience-store people used to do as a matter of course but which has fallen out of favor. So I want this to be a three-star review. But it's not. The can of diet soda I purchased in October 2023 had expired in December 2022. It had expired a full month before my old building burned down. In another year. When we're almost at the end of this year. Look, I get it, well stocked convenience stores can be difficult to handle. But a can of diet soda? You should be checking out your expiration dates at least three or four times a year. It was disgusting, and I poured 94 percent of it out. read more

We were headed back to our hotel (Beck's Motor Lodge) and were in need of some in-room snacks and beverages, so we popped in here and supported local instead of shopping at the closer Walgreens. They're a small, one-stop-shop that sold everything from groceries, to household goods, to alcohol, and deli sandwiches. It's a neighborhood convenience store, that apparently has pretty decent sandwiches according to my roommates. I love that I can grab necessities (um, tonic water, lime, cranberry juice) without walking to Safeway. That said, as a convenience store, I pay more. Oh well. Good selection of stuff for a corner market, plus they're open really late. You can get your basic convenience items, along with a large array of beers and wines, without too horrible of a markup above Safeway prices. It's the best market of its kind in the neighborhood, and it's open really late. The late-night convenience is the main reason to check out Rosenberg's - I've never had the sandwiches, and rarely stop by in the daytime. When I used to live nearby, I went here fairly often. And, since the counter guy worked 80-90-hour weeks, we developed a sort of bond. He'd tell me about crazy customers, I'd replenish the leave-a-penny tray, and sometimes he wouldn't charge me if I only needed one onion or tomato. I stopped into Rosenberg thinking this was a nice Jewish deli, but our sandwiches sadly disappointed. They really should make sure both the lettuce and bread are fresh before serving. And while I'm a glutton for mayo (if one of my vices is mayonaise with resulting high cholestorol and I die-I'll be OK with that) they put little half-hearted pussycat swipes that you could count i.e. they didin't come close to cover a single slice. Oh yea, that presse turkey stuff should probably also be repalced with something tastier! Yes Please. If your looking for a quick breakfast pick up a couple of bagels with cream cheese tomato and onion for under 5 bucks. So , yes, this is a good place to get sandwiches ,I had the hot pastrami today and he makes it just the way you want it. I usually pick something up here every day. From Dog food to TP. The owner is a nice and does appreciate your business. For all those old reviews, don't pay attention to them. They' re really old and they have gotten better apparently with new employees etc. They do have their daily special on sandwiches too. Tell them how you like it! Love it. Convenient. Its a block away from where I work.. so if I dont bring lunch.. then lately, I head here. They make bombbbbb tuna melts. Yum yum after a beefy workout at 24 in the AM. Been coming to this place for a while now. Lunch special is awesome. I've had a sandwich, chips and a soda all for under $5. Well today must have been a bad day. Went in and ordered a sandwich as usual. When I got back to my office and unwrapped my sandwich I see a hair pin/bobby pin sticking out of my sandwich. I was so grossed out by it that I called up the Deli. I must have been speaking with the owner who stated "well you should tell the girl that makes the sandwiches" WTF?! A friend and I went to this place after the gym about 2 weeks ago because he had heard good things about it and how great their sandwiches are. I forget what type of sandwich my friend ordered now but it isn't important. I was going to order after him until I noticed the owner who was minding the shop alone and had just handled cash for a customer, continued making a sandwich w/o washing his hands or wearing gloves. Mind you, touching everything else inbetween, he continued on making my friend's sandwich. I politely w/o saying anything told my friend that I changed my mind and not hungry anymore and told him about it later when we sat outdoors on the dirty phelgm and dogpoo infested sidewalks of Frisco! He, of course, thinks I'm an OCD'd germophobe and yet he has gotten sick eating in a few places that I won't mention here but I never have and I thank God for that; maybe my OCD has paid off?! Needless to say that the owner is a nice guy, but probably too jaded to talk or respond to the same'ol same'ol repetitive dumb questions, needs to learn better hygienic manners before another review like mine gets him in trouble with SF's Health Dept! Being an ex-NYer, ive come to expect certain criteria with sammidges from a deli. Rye bread for one. Not this flimsy, doily sourdough nonsense. I also want at LEAST 7 pounds of meat on the bread. And if the sammidge is warm, it gets hot mustard and kraut. And a pickle. Dont you DARE forget that. Rosenburg's gets some of it right, but fell a little short in the meat department. The sammidge looked like a normal sammidge, not one from a deli. The meat itself was a really good quality, so they get points there. Overall, its more of a sandwich than a sammidge, but edilble nonetheless. read more

What could I say. - Excellent deli sandwiches - Great customer service This is now my second time here and so far I have had great experiences and food so far. I like this place because it is convenient. The other night, i was able to pop in, on my way out, and get money out of the atm, without even going out of my way. Then, a few nights later, when i needed ice for my invalid roommate, and the place a block away didnt have any, this place did. I've worked around this deli for years but only discovered it recently. They make great sandwiches. Boars head meats, quality cheeses, and good bread. I usually get the ham and cheese with garlic aioli on dutch crunch toasted. So good. And they don't skimp on the ingredients. Plus, most of the sandwiches are under $6. Ever since Ike's went downhill due to their ridiculous wait, always soggy and drenched with dirty sauce sandwiches, Rosenberg's has stepped in to fill the void. Also, they have a punch card where after purchasing 9 sandwiches, you get the 10th free. I fill it once a month now. The workers are friendly and remember my order whenever I call it in. Good guys.
