Okay, I'll be honest, I'm not into Victorian anything due to my somewhat minor fear of ghosts (note: just so you know, as far as I know, there are no ghosts in this place!) However, I really loved staying here - comfy bed, clean bathroom with substantial towels and a great shower (although it took me some time to figure it out), endless bottles of water and fizzy flavored water, and homemade shortbread. I appreciated having a ceiling fan, which allowed me to not have to use the air conditioner. The best part, which everyone has raved about and I will too, is the breakfast. Yes, fluffy perfectly scrambled eggs, homemade chicken sausage, a different flavored bread pudding each day, scones, mini muffins and more. Eveything is cooked from scratch and you can tell - it's all so good. There was always enough coffee (really good) and I felt sufficiently full each morning, which sustained me for long days at a local conference I was attending. It's hard to believe that it's a bed and breakfast, as the amenties more than match those of high end hotels and add to it, there's the personal touch of the owners and staff. Even as an introvert, it was really nice to see some of the same guests at breakfast, as I stayed there for 3 nights, and be able to say "hello" and "good morning." Some things to be aware: This isn't a place for anyone who may not be able to climb somewhat steep and long stairs. Plenty of parking. The cost is so reasonable and even more so with the substantial breakfast and 24/7 beverages and snacks. Don't be put off by the city - it's worth exploring and investing in. I found a great coffee and lunch place called Whisk in downtown. Last, I had a facial massage on site, which was AMAZING. Worth every penny. BTW, there is a NYT article about Utica that was published today (6/4/22) about how the city may be revitalizing. It makes me want to visit again! read more

We came from an amazing B&B in Brandon, VT the prior night and weren't sure what to expect. We were taken a bit aback by the simple Victorian style of this place. It has a traditional feel and could be haunted. We stayed in the Solitude room. It was cozy but my wife and I had to suck in our guts to pass each other moving around. Shower was nice and the bed was comfortable. The morning offering of a breakfast burrito was palatable and the host shared the history of the house and neighborhood. Not luxury accommodations by any means but it was an interesting experience and affordable. read more

Visited Utica for 3 days 2 nights staying in Rosemont Inn B&B. Love this historical Victorian style building and family run place. Room is super clean, comfy bed. Owner Rita and Grace are friendly, attentive and helpful. The homemade breakfast is exceptional delicious. The common area entertainment room is good for family and friends gathering. Cute little corner on 2nd floor for coffee/tea, it has microwave for popcorn plus a water boiler for hot water to make tea. Walking distance to Stanley Theatre and Munson-Williams-Proctor art museum, very impressive places, must-go. Will visit next time for outdoor activities. read more

My wife found this for me while searching the area for cool places to stay while I would be in town on business. Now I travel 200-270 days a year so I think I'm qualified to leave a review . The check in process was super smooth and extremely easy. I showed up @ 3:30pm and by 3:45 I was in the room and blown away by the decor. First off the bathroom in this room (Othello Room ) is absolutely stunning. They have an original time correct claw foot bathtub and a new modern shower to die for & prob my fav part about the room. The king bed was super comfy but I wished there were more options for pillows because the 2 that were on the bed were a little too big for me but hey it's ok. The windows were open when I showed up and I left them open all night ( mid 50s out made it so awesome for me in the room. Breakfast was decent but not outstanding. There was grilled chicken sausage ( I think that's a regular thing because almost all the reviews say something about the chicken sausage ) but it had good flavor, the French toast want my cup of tea but it was filling. I fell in love with the hot tea options though I've never seen so many options for hot tea before. Imo the cost of the stay is very comparable to local hotels and for what u get it's well worth paying a little extra to stay here. I wish I could've met the owners but I was told they were out of town though. I must say that this has to be the oldest houses I've ever stayed in anywhere in the country 1860s and it was mind blowing on how well it is kept. We have never stayed at a bed & breakfast. The Rosemont Inn was the perfect place to stay for our first time. Our host met us at the door for our late arrival. The room we stayed in was clean & nicely decorated. Very quiet at night and did not hear the other guests. Breakfast in the morning was a apple muffin, warm poached pear & French toast, with homemade chicken sausage. The staff was amazing! They even have a massage therapist! My boyfriend and I booked this place for a weekend for our Anniversary. Right during the second spike of Covid and had amazing time! We stayed at the "Solitude" suite. It was cozy, the bed was comfortable, the bathroom is beautifuly upgraded with all modern conveniences. Everything was very clean. They actually use UV light to sanitize on top of just regular cleaning. They had a cute coffee/tea set up in the room and two drinking stations in the house. Rita is an owner and keeper of the house and she was as sweet as helpful and made our stay very enjoyable. She also cooked the breakfasts for us and served in the beautifully updated formal dining room with a fireplace. She uses local fresh ingredients and it was as delicious, as pretty to look at. I gotta say, you really get a very good deal at this place. Not only you get a room for a price of a regular hotel, but the breakfast is included. We recently had a trip to finger lakes area and stayed in a few hotels. Because of Covid most places would serve a muffin in a plastic and some coffee, you wont get anything hot or cooked from scratch. So staying in this B&B was a real treat and a unique and pleasant experience! The house is beautiful, full of all charm. Rita did an amazing job updating the place while keeping the original details of the house. The house felt cozy and historic and at the same time was still comfortable, convenient and clean! read more

My husband and I stayed at the Rosemont Inn on our trip biking the Erie Canal. We absolutely loved it! The decor had been recently redone and it is beautiful. The bedroom was very comfortable and the bath was nicely renovated. I would definitely stay there again if we travel through Utica. I also had a massage by Grace after the third day of a five day, 275 mile bike ride. She did an amazing job asking how I was feeling and concentrated on the areas where I really needed it. She did some cupping on my shoulders to get into some deep knots that I've never been able to get rid of before. I think having a great massage midway through my ride was a tremendous help. When we finished I wasn't too sore or tight, but my husband, who didn't have a massage, was sore for a few days after. I highly recommend Grace and the Rosemont Inn! read more

Bob and Rita are the prefect Inn Keepers at the Rosemont B&B. We stopped over when we wanted to check out an exhibit at the Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute and we are so glad we did. Generally we do the major hotel chains but this time we wanted something special for the New Year, Breakfast was just delicious and Rita did a wonderful job of varying the meals and providing locally sourced produce. Poached Pears were just perfect and its been years since I've had something that perfectly prepared. The house is a beautifully preserved and renovated Victorian home. The common areas and rooms are just as beautiful in person as they are in the online photos. The bathroom in the Othello suite was just beautifully done in white subway tile with an over-sized shower and a claw foot tub. If I had to be critical about anything is that the mattress was a bit softer than I would have liked but that did not impact my sleep at all. Bed linens, towels, and bath robes were very high quality. Location and Parking were just perfect for our stay and we would highly recommend Rosemont Inn Bed & Breakfast for anyone needing a civilized get away in the Mohawk Valley. The reason I drove up 4 hours from the city to Utica, was because Rosemont Inn offered a place not only to us, but to our dog too. Utica itself doesn't have anything to offer, but 20 minutes out is a small town called Clinton which was cute to hang out in. The inn itself was clean and charming. I must commend the innkeepers for their help in getting my bedandbreakfast.com coupon working. Before I booked I had asked the innkeeper if I could use my gift certificate and she had said they would accept it. However, at the time of checking out, the original innkeepers were out of the country, but their substitute made sure that the original deal was honored which was impressive, considering she had to go out of her way to figure out how to do it since she hadn't dealt with something like that before. I booked a room here because it was literally the only thing available remotely in the area during the Baseball Hall of Fame Induction Weekend in Cooperstown. I've stayed in B&B's many times, and also used airbnb and vrbo to stay at tons of places that I've loved before--so I am certainly not stuck on cookie-cutter, luxurious hotels. I paid $300 for 2 nights for the smallest room they had, which to me seems a bit steep for Utica (especially the area of Utica the B&B is located--not nice or safe to say the least). But they had me by the balls since everything was booked. My boyfriend and I came from a show at Ommegang on a Friday night and I had let the innkeepers know ahead of time that we would likely be very late checking in. They were super nice about it and told us they would stay up to let us in, which made us feel bad and rushed because they kind of gave the impression they were staying up just for us. When we pulled up the outside and landscaping looked pretty and welcoming but again the surrounding neighborhood area is pretty drab/unsafe looking. The owner met us at the door and was a bit weird and not the most friendly in the world, but he wasn't UNfriendly...just kind of "meh." We had driven 7 hours from Northern Virginia and gone to the Hall of Fame as well as a big show that day so we planned to really just lounge and enjoy the B&B all day Saturday...watch movies, maybe get some lunch and nap. Unfortunately there was no TV in the room which squashed those plans right away. I get that part of the allure of these historical places is the old-timey feel, but really, 2015 and no TV at all, even hidden in a cabinet that you could open (so as not to tarnish the aesthetic of the room)? Even a TV with no cable but a DVD player would've been better than nothing. The bed was small and hard and highly uncomfortable. The room was hot when we got in, but fortunately there was a little AC unit that I cranked all the way up so it did get cool eventually. Windows all shut with the blinds down and the impression was you're not meant to open them which kind of made the room feel claustrophobic and dark. Creepy artwork and the bathroom was down a hall, which the guy never mentioned if we shared or not with anyone else (when I booked it said we had our own bathroom) so we felt weird about that. We had a pretty uncomfortable sleep and since our plans to watch movies and luxuriate all day got squashed, we ended up going home the next morning and just losing $150 on the 2nd night. I didn't expect them to refund me or anything, but when we checked out we waited a bit and no one came so we just left our keys and I thought someone might call to see if we were coming back or if something went wrong with our stay but I didn't hear a word from that--so obviously they just thought "well, she already paid in full, screw her!" Doesn't really show that they cared much about the stay we had or why we would give up one of our nights and leave within less than 12 hours of arriving. Lastly, free breakfast was supposed to be apart of the cost, but they only served it from 8-9:30. So considering we got back after midnight and didn't go to sleep til 2 AM or so, it would've been nice if they could've extended it a bit so we could have some too--but they were strict on breakfast ending at 9:30 so we missed it. In general the place felt dreary, depressing and like the owners have given up and don't care anymore. They got their money so that's all they cared about. Needless to say we won't be staying here again. read more

Had a wonderful stay at this inn-- one of my all-time favorites, and I've stayed at many. Hospitality and warm welcome topped my list of pluses. I had arranged a late arrival because I was doing a train trip for the foliage, but Amtrak ran 2 hours behind and I didn't arrive until nearly 11 pm. The innkeeper waited up for me, and made me feel welcome despite the late hour. Room was immaculate and beautifully decorated, from the high poster bed to the mahogany dressing table, fireplace and comfy rocking chair. The room was comfortable as well as authentically Victorian, a rare combination. Breakfast was a three-course delight, served on rose-patterned china in a sunny breakfast room overlooking the sugar maples in front. Fresh fruit, perfectly-done frittata, muffins hot out of the oven. juice and gourmet coffee. In all, a great stay! read more

While cycling the Erie Canal path from Syracuse to Albany we stayed overnight at the Rosemont Inn in Utica, NY. Getting to the Inn was straight forward as you just travel south on Genesee Street from the Canal path, to reach it. The owners were very accommodating, having us put our bikes inside the house for safe keeping overnight. The room was very clean, comfortable and had a private bathroom. We easily walked back down Genesee Street to one of the restaurants down near the Stanley theater. We arranged for breakfast to be at 8AM, which fit our schedule for the next leg well. Overnight it was extremely quiet in the house. Breakfast the next morning was really good and filling. In fact we ended up not having to stop for lunch on our way to Fort Plain. The Rosemont was a good place to stay for us during this trip and we would stay there again on our way through Utica again. read more

What exemplary B&B. Great room with a very comfortable bed. Since we actually research these things, we had the room with the bathroom which was classically nice. Great breakfast which was an item I would normally not order but I knew this place would do well, which they did. As is usual, I wonder which B&B the negative reviewers stayed at - or which disorders they brought with them. I'd live at this place. And if you're attending any of the many cultural activities in Utica, of which there are many, this place is just close enough and just far away from all of them. I liked it - a lot. read more

I stayed at the Inn for four nights while on business travel. The Lavender room had a small table adequate for my work space in addition to a large comfy bed. I liked having the sink area outside the bathtub/shower/toilet room as there was a window right there. The Inn was built in the 1880's and has many period furniture pieces but is not overcrowded or fussy. I walked downtown for dinner each evening and especially loved Mi Casa, a small local Carribean restaurant. read more
