I would not want anyone in our situation to waste their time with him. After a nice initial consult and completing a mountain of testing (including genetics and an HSG at another facility), I was unable to get any information, discussion of results, or advice about next steps for treatment. I left many messages and voicemails. Once, when I asked for a follow up consultation with Dr. Allen I was told that it was "too soon" and that I should just call when I got my period (for what treatment? Unclear). The only call I ever received was from his nurse where I was prescribed a thyroid medication, even though my results were in the normal range. I later learned this protocol was based on old, disproven research. The medicine made me so sick and when I couldn't get Dr. Allen to discuss it with me, I just stopped taking it. In the end, we have had success with another fertility doctor in LA who has been responsive, communicative and shares our sense of urgency. Dr. Allen was none of those things.

It's hard to believe that we're about to welcome our baby soon. Our journey began here in 2023, after undergoing trigger shots and two unsuccessful IUI cycles. We ultimately made the difficult decision to pursue IVF. Despite the positive test results indicating that we were healthy on both ends, we held off on going all in with IVF. Even on my graduation day, Dr. B expressed that our case was unknown, as we would probably conceived naturally eventually . However, due to our age and the fact that we had been trying for almost three years after our wedding in 2021, we found this location that we had been praying for after years of prayer. On the day of the egg retrieval surgery, I was filled with panic and fear. But then, Dr. B walked into the surgery room and cracked a joke. "Ana, did you leave happy hour early last night?" he asked. Immediately, I couldn't help but smile and take a deep breath. He is the most incredible, amazing person we have ever met. He exudes an infectious positive energy and always made us feel completely confident that our miracle would happen. But clearly the office is in some form of chaos with no ability to communicate clearly, help with any processes necessary to change clinics and it even took them 3 months before they figured out their facility didn't even have our eggs. It's a mess. Maybe they'll get it back on track, but it almost feels like there is a big secret being protected and along the way, you'll be the one to wait and sacrifice.
