STARMark CABINETRY (MasterBrand) - 2019-2022 PAINTED FINISHES ARE DEFECTIVE - $70,000 total loss…read moreDo NOT buy StarMark painted cabinets made between 2019-2022.I spent over $70,000 on "premium" Syracuse Maple Black painted doors/drawer fronts in 2019 (Order #323987). Within 3-5 years every single piece is catastrophically failing: * Paint bubbling and peeling on untouched undersides, raised center panels, and even the permanently-installed cabinet boxes * Miter joints opening * Rails warping and MDF panels delaminating MasterBrand's official response (November 21, 2025 letter - see attached screenshots) denied it was a manufacturing defect, blamed me for "excessive moisture/water damage and normal wear," and offered to replace only 14 pieces (less than half) as a "one-time courtesy."They demanded I permanently waive my Lifetime Warranty rights by signing the letter, stated "no further parts will be provided," and refused to cover labor or guarantee color match. These cabinets fail multiple mandatory ANSI/KCMA A161.1 performance tests that StarMark advertises on every brochure and website: * 5.4.1 - Finish Adhesion * 5.3 - Front Joint Strength (open miters) * 5.8 - Shrinkage & Heat * 4.3.3 / 4.3.6 - Chemical & Humidity Resistance This is the exact same widespread defect hitting hundreds of 2019-2022 painted StarMark, Schuler, Omega, Diamond, and other MasterBrand lines. Search Houzz or Reddit - the photos are identical to mine. StarMark/MasterBrand knows these painted finishes are defective but refuses to stand behind the Lifetime Warranty they sold us. Instead they use fake "environmental damage" excuses and force customers to give up their legal rights for a partial, useless fix. I am currently escalating with KCMA (requesting certification suspension), New York Attorney General (§349 deceptive practices), FTC, and CFPB. Will update if they ever do the right thing. Save yourself six figures and years of misery.Avoid painted StarMark cabinets at all costs. Stained only, or choose any other brand. Zero stars.

We are now looking at replacing kitchen countertops and stopped in to discuss. Kathy was a delight to work with and had great suggestions for us. I had never actually been in the showroom and was pleasantly surprised. Lots of great displays to help us envision how surfaces would look in our home. Our home was built in 1991 and the windows were completely rotten less than ten years later (Jeld-Wen - think they went bankrupt but may be out ther again). I searched every available window company and couldn't believe the offering that K&W offered. We chose WeatherShield mainly since it was so rare to be able to pick the wood type of the windows - no pine, the wood is just too soft. We replaced all of our windows with K&W and we love having windows the are a complete match to all or our trim. A few years later we added an addition. This time we didn't have to do research, we knew exactly where to go and the windows to use. I'm going to tell you that they are busy but when you are with Tim Lund or Doug Metz from K&W, you are all they are thinking about. My advice to anyone is don't make a decision until you have seen what K&W can offer. I think you will be much more impressed that the "one-company" window offerings. Go see all that they offer, then make the decision this is right for you. They will show you everything and even show you the competitor's products. We also purchased solid core panel doors and new hardware but the experience was the same. I hope this helps you.

I needed a downspout moved to another side of the house after I had an outdoor kitchen put in which required the downspout be moved. I asked Darin for a bid and an estimate of what they planned to do, which he spent extra time talking me though the issues of what needed to be done and why. The day they planned to begin work, Darin called to let me know they were starting and should be done that same day, which I appreciated the heads-up. They were completed later in the day as he estimated. I looked over the work they did - not only did they match the original color and style of the eves-troughs and downspouts, everything they did looked seamless and looked as though it had always been part of the house. We also discussed some other drainage and irrigation work I was doing outside and around the house, which he offered some tips and pointers. All in all, they charged a fair price for quality work, and were professional and courteous. Painted and refloored with vinyl......add another $250.00. Not sure who your target audience is with this scheme....but it obviously is not this blue collar guy, as I don't have money growing on trees. Enough said.....Folks beware.

We have lived in our house for 2 years and love our house but we can tell that our house was put…read moretogether very quickly and they either forgot to do some things or just didn't care to finish. Half of the nail holes in the trim are covered and half are not, the back splash in the kitchen was not caulked were it meets the counter top,the caulk around the bathroom sink is coming off and leaking, the banister trim has been warped since we moved in, there is a ridge in our counter top around the sink, our dry wall in the kitchen and in the bathroom has spots where they tried to patch a hole and did not do a good job, they didn't anchor down our island in the kitchen, and every time it rains hard the pink rocks wash out from under our driveway because of the way they have the gutter drain into a drain in our sidewalk which has now sunk in and cracked. We had a 1 year warranty on our house but every time we called the guy he acted like we were bothering him and he wouldn't come over when he said he would. It had to be during the week before 5 and we had to be home so one of us would have to take the day off of work and then he wouldn't show up. We were promised 2 new trees since the ones that were here when we moved in had never been watered and were dead and we were promised a new counter top since the one we have has a ridge around the sink. We haven't received either. When you buy a brand new house you shouldn't have to spend more money fixing things that should have been done in the first place.
