Located on Nuffield Street in Newmarket, Avokado has been gaining a reputation as the number one store for women with bigger boobs. Instead of just catering to older women, as most stores lingerie stores (like Bendon) have tended to, Avokado stocks young, funky, sexy and supportive lingerie for busty women. Regardless of whether you're a size 6FF or a size 20K, Avokado will have something for you. And, unlike other stores, Avokado only stocks products that both look and MAKE YOU FEEL FABULOUS. I now adore going lingerie shopping thanks to Avokado - their products make you feel like a supermodel, they're comfy and fun and vibrant - exactly what all 21 year olds want with their lingerie. Freya is my favourite brand that Avokado stock. They do super cute and sexy sets, and thanks to Freya I recently purchased the first bustier I've ever found that fit properly. Dusty pink with little black flowers and lace, it's incredibly pretty and the top along with matching bottoms only set me back $160 - not bad considering you'd pay at least that in most lingerie stores, and it wouldn't fit half as well. Tip: Avokado also stock swimwear, so finally you can look and feel great at the beach too without having to worry about falling out of those silly drawstring-type bikini tops. The women take every care to fit you properly and make sure the bras you are trying on fit you best. My most recent experience here was to look for a bra that would fit perfectly under my bridesmaid dress. I took the dress in and, inside the beautiful change rooms, tried it on with a number of different bra options underneath. The shop assistant was very helpful and not at all pushy. In the end she even suggested going away and having a think about the options to consider what would be best rather that persuading me to buy one of her bras. It was great.

It's a big old department store. An upmarket one. If you're looking for a fragrance or makeup or something, this is a good place to go. There's MAC and Bobbi Brown and Chanel and Shiseido etc. There's more womenswear than there is men's. My favourite sections are the underwear sections (they do Calvin Klein underwear - men's and womens) and those beauty counters. My mom loves Smith & Caughey's. I don't know exactly what this means but she has enough of an expendable income to shop there. Especially at sale time. The Newmarket store now has some of the new younger fashion brands in store (like they do in the city) - including Twenty-Seven Names, Karen Walker and Stolen Girlfriend's Club, so if you're looking for those brands, it's a good option, especially if you've looked elsewhere for certain pieces and can't find them.

Today I discovered they even stock that super cool label Wild Fox here. Lush. One day when I have heaps of money I'm gonna buy heaps of that and wear it to Coachella. I found the staff friendly and they put a clothing item I was wanting to try on in the changing room for me while I continued to browse. Grey sweater: check. Doc Martens: check. Nice colours of Vans: check. They stock labels like Federation and Wildfox that I haven't seen in many other stores around the city, so you know you're almost guaranteed to be the only person wearing anything you buy in here. It's by no means a cheap store but all of the clothes are really well made and they're really different to items you'd find in chain stores. The store itself has a whole warehouse vibe to it and is really spacious with exposed brick walls and concrete floors. I love the fact that it's got a kids section, they've got some really cool printed tees and dresses that I kind of want for myself! Really must try to keep myself out of this place.
