I made 5:30pm reservations on a sunny Saturday evening. When we arrived, we waited just a few minutes to be seated. We were seated in the side in what I call the "white room" which is brighter than the rest of the restaurant. We quickly noticed that both of our menus were missing a page when we shared what we were going to order and didn't see it listed so we swapped menus so we could see what the other missed. From here we waited about 8 minutes before our server made it over to our table to introduce herself and take our orders. I ordered the strawberry margarita; which was fine. Not good enough for me to order again for $19. My starter was the queso dip and I used the chips from our salsa and chips they give every table since the queso dip does not come with anything. The queso dip has peppers in it so it has a little spicy kick (for those who do not eat spicy foods, you can handle the dip-just avoid the peppers). I ordered the tempura shrimp tacos with a side of beans and creamy poblano rice. The tacos and rice came out but the beans were missed. I got our waitress attention to inform her and she quickly remedied the situation. My partner ordered the fajita with shrimp and steak. The portion is served is a huge bowl and looks pretty but he thought the shrimp smelled off. I smelled the shrimp and they smelled fine to me; almost grill fire smell. He enjoyed the steak and peppers and his side of beans and rice but he wasn't overall impressed with the flavors so we won't be returning. The food was just okay. The roasted chicken enchiladas were good, though they had a bit too much sauce, and the chips and salsa were also enjoyable. It appeared that the staff was extremely stretched thin, with servers running around nonstop and visibly overwhelmed. It was unclear whether the restaurant was understaffed or simply overextending its employees, but the server in particular seemed completely overloaded. They would definitely return, but the service processes and staffing situation could use improvement read more

I got the lobster, crab enchiladas. I've never had those anywhere before and they were delicious. My wife got this shrimp cocktail thing that had a super different type of salsa in it. Service was great. Outside seating is perfect. It was 70 degrees and sunny. Light wind. Just a great spot to sit and have a bite after shopping. read more

Very tasty Mexican fare, but the price means this is a location for special occasions only for my budget. The cocktails were fresh and delicious but a bit weak for the price if you ask me. Really enjoyed our lunch at Rosa Mexicano. Being the first ~80*F day of spring, we started outside on the patio*, but unfortunately allergies had us move inside before we ordered. (The staff was wonderfully accommodating!) We greatly enjoyed the complimentary chips and salsa (just a hint of heat and delightfully smokey), traditional margaritas, mushroom enchiladas, and a chopped Tulum Cobb chicken salad (served in a tortilla bowl)--I don't always add chicken, but wanted the protein, and found Rosa Mexicano's grilled chicken to be moist and flavorful! The decor was fun and funky within--some rooms were flooded with sunshine, some moodier with hand-painted walls. Loved the iridescent skull wallpaper in the bathroom. Eating here was one of the worst experiences I have ever had. Not only was the food just gross and the least authentic Mexican food, the server was inconsiderate and rude. We ordered 2 drinks and then didn't come until after we got out appetizer AND main course. Our server, Jenny, then said the hold up was there was no mint, then the drink came out with mint. So she clearly lied instead of just professionally saying that she forgot to send in the order. In the beginning of our order, my girlfriend made it clear that she had a gluten allergy and the woman brought us tacos on flour tortillas. Not only did she do that, but she offered to SCRAPE the food off of the flour tortillas and put them on CORN tortillas. It's already cross contaminated! Also, we ordered something we did not enjoy at all, took one bite of, and she left it on the bill and also left it ON THE TABLE. When we asked for tacos instead, it took 25 minutes for them to come out and when we asked to CANCEL the tacos, she refused to cancel them and said she "already put them in". To top it all off, there was a group of teenage girls rudely taking pictures with customers in the background and no one stopped them. Unbelievably rude, inconsiderate, and terrible service by our waitress. Disappointing and will not be coming back. read more

We recently celebrated our daughter's birthday at Rosa Mexicano. The atmosphere was lively and festive, and this is definitely a great place for a celebratory event. The menu is interesting and diverse in its offerings, and I can't say that I've ever seen duck on a Mexican themed restaurant. The cocktail list is extensive, and as one might imagine, very tequila themed. We had several different margaritas, and all were very well done. The tableside guacamole is not to be missed, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. Definitely a place we will visit again, and I specifically look forward to the guac! read more

This is a trap, for upper class people who don't know what Mexican food is. I guess I shouldn't have expected super authentic Mexican food, but this is just... gross. I mean, I got baja-fish tacos, and I saw there was some kinda ranch-ish thing on it, which was a red flag, but I was like, "sure, why not?" It litterally was fried cod and tarter sauce, on top of pico de gallo... like, it wasn't the worst thing I've ever eaten, but it's not reallt a good combination, and I really feel.... swindled. I mean, $16 isn't the worst, but that's really overpriced for what it is. Meanwhile, I was with my mother, she got the enchelada, and I swear to you, the tomato sauce litterally tastes like what you get with Spagettios, and that was $20. I mean, who the hell do they think they are? All of this said, the service was at least good, ya know, everyone working there is doing a fine job. Ambiance is fine, but again, it's basically a trap designed to trick... I guess people who don't blink at the prices into buying truely sub-par Mexican food. We didn't try the bar, maybe that's ok? We just got 2 entrees, and I'm glad we didn't buy any sides or anything, cuz ugh. Maybe I'm going in circles now, but I just feel really cheated. There should be some sort of... karmic punishment for whoever owns this restaurant. We need someone's Abuela to come here and give them a piece of her mind, cuz damn. Stopped by Rosa Mexicano for lunch earlier today. The store looked nice, upscale. The service was ok, not very attentive but not bad. We ordered the steak tacos and duck enchiladas. The two entrees were pretty good. Unique offering to have duck as the protein. The food was pretty good but I was expecting a little bit more given the high price points. Overall, this is a nice spot and I would stop by again sometime most likely. read more

Everything was fantastic! The moment you walk in, you are warmly greeted by a host/hostess. Our Server was super knowledgeable, and just the right amount of attentiveness and relaxedness. We had reservations and were seated upon arrival. Our server approached us in a timely manner. The inside decor was welcoming and warm. Salsa and chips were brought over right away. We ordered different kinds of margaritas. Although they tasted ok they were very weak. The table side guacamole was terrific. They adjusted the spice level to accommodate our request. The combination of flavor and freshness was terrific and who doesn't love a table side presentation? We ordered birria tacos and empanadas with thoughts of ordering something more later however, they were so filling we decided to stop. I appreciated that dietary restriction items were clearly marked (ex GF, Veg etc). Overall it was a good experience. Great food and service. The decor places you in the middle of a Dia de Los Muertos celebration. Guacamole fresh out of the mortar, smoky mezcalitas, what more can a girl ask for?! The duck enchiladas?! The only answer is yes. Bean and cheese empanadas? Another yes. The churros were a little on the dense side but who's really gonna complain about deep fried dough in cinnamon sugar? Kid menus, crayons, and high chairs are available. I was excited to try this as I've just moved to the area and am looking for a taco and marg spot. I don't think this is it - at least not for dinner. The table side guacamole is a must do. Hands down some of the freshest, delicious restaurant guacamole. I love that you can see the ripeness of the ingredients. The margaritas were tasty, but the bartender was a little light handed. Neither my friend, nor I, got a buzz after 2 and 3 drinks. I got the duck carnitas and was a tad disappointed. They weren't very flavorful and I wound up putting salsa on them to give it a kick. read more

Food and Service - 5 STARS Manager - 0 STARS I've been a longtime fan of Rosa Mexicano for the great food and consistently warm, attentive service - but my recent visit was truly upsetting. I came in with my best friend to celebrate my birthday and we were seated right away. Unfortunately, from the moment we sat down, we could clearly hear the manager on duty (I later heard someone call him Danny) loudly berating the staff in the back of the restaurant. His voice carried through the dining area as he called employees "entitled" and "not team players," all while pointing out that sales were up. The tone, volume, and aggression in his voice were jarring - and completely inappropriate in a professional setting, especially in front of guests. To make things worse, we waited 10 - 15 minutes without water, chips or any service. It was clear the staff weren't able to tend to tables because they were being held in the back by the manager (we listened to it all). We almost left, but stayed because we've had so many positive experiences here in the past and were honestly shocked. Once the staff was finally able to return to the floor, we had a great dinner. The food was delicious, and the servers - as always - were warm and attentive. But we were still upset and uncomfortable about what we had witnessed earlier. It cast a shadow over the evening. As a teacher and a parent, I was disturbed by what I witnessed. Even though the staff members were strangers, my friend and I were extremely uncomfortable knowing they were being treated this way. Managers should lead with respect, not fear or humiliation. I truly hope the company takes a serious look at what's happening at this location, because this type of behavior from management can ruin a workplace and a dining experience. Rosa Mexicano has always been a favorite of mine, but after this, I'm not sure I'll be returning unless some changes are made. read more

My wife and I dined at Rosa Mexicano last night, and unfortunately, it turned out to be one of the most atrocious dining experiences we've had in recent memory. We made a clear and polite request: no cilantro. Not an unusual ask--but you'd think we'd asked for something outrageous based on what followed. When our meals finally arrived (after they first brought the wrong dishes to our table), both were drenched in cilantro. Not just a sprinkle--covered. We had ordered the Chicken and Shrimp Parrillada, which sounded promising on the menu. What we received was almost inedible. The chicken was entirely fatty, with barely a bite that wasn't rubbery or gristly. The shrimp were undercooked, nearly translucent in the center. The accompanying vegetables? Bitter and lifeless. We left feeling nauseated and sick to our stomachs. What made it worse was the price point. For the quality of food we received, the cost was not just high--it was outrageous. We understand that restaurants can have off nights, and we don't write negative reviews lightly. But in this case, Rosa Mexicano fell tremendously short of even the most basic expectations. Delicious and the best service! Went for our anniversary. Two rounds of margaritas, chips and super delish house-made salsa, the melt-in-your-mouth brisket enchiladas, shrimp tacos in house-made corn tortillas, Mexican rice, black beans, and for dessert churros (light, fluffy, just-right sweetness with house-made chocolate sauce and strawberry sauce. Five stars for the stellar guacamole, good cocktail options, and being one of the better Ardmore brunch options. But curved slightly lower because there are other plentiful, more traditional, less trendy taqueria options that are much more appealing in the neighborhood by my book. It feels weird to say it now, but there was a time some 10+ years ago when I was lamenting over how Ardmore lacked solid taco options, but now they're absolutely everywhere! Living in South Philly for so many years has taught me to appreciate those neighborhood hole-in-the-wall taquerias over the trendier corporate options. And for that El Limon, Buena Vista, and Senoritas are all just better options on the whole. That doesn't mean that there aren't things that I enjoy about Rosa Mexicano compared to the other spots. In my eye, they have one of the best outdoor seating spots in all of Ardmore, and they have one of the better weekday happy hours that hook up great food and beverage options from 4:00 to 7:00 pm. I also love that their brunch hooks up things like chilaquiles and tres leches french toast on a daily basis, and that they have guacamole and ceviche tasting menu that allows you to taste all of their varieties at a reasonable price. There sides also feature a "pour queso on anything" option that I get tempted to test out in the most innovative and weirdest ways possible! When it comes down to enjoying some tacos and cerveza on the regular you'll catch me elsewhere in the neighborhood. But for those moments that require a little more of a special presentation, Rosa Mexicano knows how to deliver! read more

Rosa Mexicano is a very cute restaurant. The food was good. I was a little disappointed that they did not have horchata. They also were out of a few menu items that we wanted to try. After we ordered we were informed about the items not being available. We wish the waiters were informed sooner so that they could let us know before we put in our order. We also got the queso appetizer for the table. It was so good, some of the best queso I have had. However, It was a little small to share with more than a few people. Overall, the experience was good, but it was on the pricier side, but I still enjoyed it. read more

Stumbled upon this place walking around a cute little town. I was excited to eat here as the place was giving ambience with the dim lighting and the big beautiful chandelier and let's not forget that the place was packed with a hour wait time. Luckily my friend and I were able to get seats at the bar. On to the food, I order chicken flautas, pork carnitas tacos, and a mango margarita. Everything was edible but not enjoyable. It was just BLAH. The chicken in the flautas was not seasoned at all and covered in sauce that made them soggy. This plate was $12 for two flautas so $6 each. In my opinion way over priced. The tacos were again under seasoned and wet. For the life of me I didn't understand why they were so wet. If you notice in the picture you can see a puddle by the meat. And because they didn't double up on the corn tortillas like authentic Mexican tacos it fell apart. And last by not least the margarita, which I thought would come in a margarita glass. This drink was $16 for a small cup which was mostly ice. I tasted no mango and all liquor which for some would be perfect. Bottom line I would not be going back or recommending to family or friends. I cannot believe this place We both ordered coffee. My friend received his, and I never received mine after asking for it 3x. Same with salsa, but we got that eventually. I ordered a frozen strawberry margarita, pictured here below. Then they brought me what was expected. The flatware was smudged and dirty. No one was available for quite some time, so we had to find more ourselves The salad had such stale croutons on them that I couldn't bite into it. Rosa Mexicano is a really nice addition to Suburban Square. The space is bright and cheerful. We were sat at a table and I love that they aren't on top of each other. Service was pleasant and attentive. My only wish is for ice. Luke warm water is not appealing. Especially on a hot summer day. The cucumber jalapeño marg was absolutely delish. One of the best drinks I've had in a while. It was well balanced and super refreshing. The birria tacos were excellent, as was the tableside guacamole (a signature app)! The portions were on the smaller side, while prices are steep. But the food is very good and I felt comfortable. I could have ordered another app and it would have been plenty.
