First of all I am a 34yr-old patient who had prior to this never had an injury in her life that…read morerequired more than a band-aid. I was working as a traveling RN in Cali from Indiana for 3 yrs when I was in a head on collision with an oil tanker and my left leg was totally crushed. Broken femur, knee shattered in a zillion pieces, and all sticking straight out of my skin to boot. I was treated in California initially but needed to come home to where my friends and family could help care for me because prognosis was at least 6 months until I'd even be able to stand on my own. I actually had a best friend at this practice-Jennifer Hite, NP who I highly recommend (and NOT because I'm bias-because she is an amazing medical professional who really cares about her patients) but due to our prior relationship she set me up with Dr. Tamara Pylawka. As a nurse I'm very picky about my doctors. I've seen a lot who simply don't care, their hearts aren't in it anymore, they make major errors just from being careless to make a tee-time so naturally I was very hesitant to be under the care of a doctor I knew nothing about. However-I have been very pleasantly surprised with the care I've received. Dr. Pylawka is very hands on with me. She does complete exams. She doesn't rush me. She doesn't leave the room until ALL of my questions have been asked. She was proactive in asking about possible PTSD without me expressing any symptoms or questions about my mental state due to the trauma I endured and encouraged me to be proactive in speaking with my PCP because a large percentage of trauma patients end up needing some kind of treatment for PTSD. She is proactive in treating my pain and realizes it is an important part of recovery as it's the only way I can get up and around and not just lay in bed in an immobilizer all day. When applying for SSI she expedited the paperwork in two days when she usually asks for 2 weeks and then when she ended up making an innocent error on the form that caused my SSI to be declined-she did her best to fix the error within a week. (The state of California is crazy picky). The front office girls are pleasant enough. You usually feel like you are annoying them when you have questions or requests but you at least usually get an answer although they aren't the most proactive group of office workers Ive encountered which can be frustrating when you have a sense of urgency. I've found that to be common in Doctors offices though so I'm not sure they are any worse than anywhere else. Her nurse Paige is awesome and replies to voicemails quickly and is proactive in getting messages to the doctor and relying them back to the patient. She is quick and efficient yet makes sure you understand everything before you leave. The MA who takes vitals and initial complaints is a quiet, pleasant girl. No complaints there. All in all I recommend this practice and Dr Pylawka and Jennifer Hite, NP very highly
