First, when I walked in, I could see a neat, comfortable waiting room with good staff members manning the computers and files. I do not like to go into a doctor's office without having genuine smiles for the PAs, nurses, and staff. Their work is tough enough--coordinating triage, paperwork, diagnosing the potentially-upset sick or injured old and young individuals. Kudos for all they do to make everything run smoothly. I waited a little while before I was taken to a room. I brought a good bit of work to finish while I waited, and the time flew. I had an excellent PA. I am pleased with the way she examined my wrists and hands after my fall. I appreciate that she needed a detailed description about the way I landed. She listened well and made excellent comments as I spoke. The x-ray pro was quite friendly and helpful throughout her work as she posed me accurately for the best shots of my bones in my hands. "Bonus points" for e-mailing my x-rays to me so I can share them with my doctors in SC upstate! I can keep those in my med file. All in all, the office rooms were neat and clean with a competent staff doing their best to work with me as a team to identify my situation and to do their work in a timely manner. No one wants to be at urgent care, but I don't understand why the reviews for Roper St. Francis Express Care at West Ashley Circle are so low. My primary care physician is in the Roper network, and I appreciate being able to come to this location for my blood tests every few months (I have iron deficiency anemia). My doctor's office is nine miles from my home, and this location is about two miles, with much less traffic. Sherry the phlebotomist has poked me several times for blood tests, and I have not passed out nor felt any pain. She's pleasant and welcoming as well as quick. I do warn phlebotomists that I have passed out before during blood tests, and she was very nonjudgmental and accommodating. I haven't seen a PA or NP here, but it's nice to know that if I need an in-person visit, it's close to home- and closer and cheaper than the ER. I recommend having a PCP and doing virtual visits if you can, so you don't have to wait as long, drive when sick, or sit in a germy waiting area. You can also get an X-ray here. The X-ray and phlebotomy hours are different than the urgent care hours, so the technicians/providers are not always there on weekends or late in the evening. It's hard to give a "Great" rating when you are sick, let alone to any part of the US Healthcare System right now. Still, don't let the reviews deter you if you need bloodwork done. read more

I went to the ER on 10/30 for hypertension. BP was 200/94 The care I received from the male nurse no complaints. The PA obviously, doesn't need left alone. First of I have an allergy to weed. I also have a sensitivity to the smoke. I also have hypertension. When subjected to the smoke my BP rises. My throat actually starts to close. So I am on an allergy medicine daily for that. I will never go back to this ER while that PA is there. I refuse to pay $375.00 for two Tylenol. I did not go the ER for a headache. My BP was still 177/90 when I left. PA's noes are incorrect. Your PA said my high blood pressure is situational and not high BP. She needs to go back to school before someone dies from her stupidity. read more

Wow! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! DO NOT! PA was too lazy to do an ingrown toenail procedure after we sat and waited for 3 hours. We were told before we came in the doctor would remove the ingrown toenail. All we got was a stupid soaking and some ointment on it. The nurse that took me back was not friendly and the PA was SO unfriendly and unhelpful and gave us some papers to go to a surgical pediatrist. When I kept saying urgent cares will take out the ingrown all she did was keep disagreeing with me etc. terrible express care and their hospital is even worse. Stay away from here!!!! Even the staff knew the PA can do it but the PA was just too lazy to even do it. WOULDNT LISTEN to anything we said, kept interrupting us. Worse experience. read more

The nurses and Drs (PAs) don't seem to want to treat people. I don't know what their deal is but there is no sense of urgency and their triage procedures make absolutely no sense. I would avoid this location. The PA who treated me son accused me of abuse because I refused to give him the STD vaccine - he is 11 years old!! These people need to do better!! read more

I visited Roper in West Ashley Circle, Charleston SC for a simple urine test. After waiting over a week for the result I got a prescription for antibiotics and was asked to pick them up at the Harris Teeter pharmacy at West Ashley Circle. They didn't have any prescription at the pharmacy for me and I went back to the Roper clinic to ask. The receptionist didn't know where the prescription was sent and asked me to go back to a CVS pharmacy to check the next day. CVS didn't have the prescription eighter. So I went back to Roper one more time and they promised that they sent it to the Harris Teeter pharmacy. After the antibiotics treatment, I called Roper and asked to speak to a doctor because I felt the infection is not yet cured. They promised that a doctor would call me which didn't happen. I tried to reach a doctor for about a week and then gave up and visited a primary care doctor. After I received their invoice I sent them a letter of complaint with no response. I did call and addressed my complaint. No further reaction on this. The lady on the phone said that they would get back to me. No further response. I tried calling yesterday again and asked for a call back because the line was busy and a long wait. I did NOT receive a callback. They simply don't respond to any complaints. Instead, they send letters telling me that they will INITIATE COLLECTIONS if the bill is not paid! I paid 200 USD for a 10 min consultation plus 360 for the lab test (which normally cost 80 USD if you go there directly). Now they want another 86 USD for not providing basic service and trying to enforce payment by intimidating the collection. I didn't go in. It was packed. My immune system was at an ultimate low and the sign on the door said 3-4 hour wait. I left and made a virtual appointment with my doctor. I wasn't upset, I get it, covid is running high right now, and although I'm fully vaxed and boosted, if I didn't already have covid I would just by going in to that packed doctors office. read more

Aubrey Caroline Bennett is on the mend-thank you everyone for all of your prayers. Please read below. WARNING: DO NOT GO TO OR USE ROPER EXPRESS CARE West Ashley Bees Ferry by Harris Teeter Read below. Aubrey got very sick on Tuesday, April 23rd, and I was in Wisconsin. Glen, Austin and RJ were home with her. Within hours, she could barely stand or walk, and was SEVERELY dehydrated. She barely made it down the stairs with Glen helping her. He managed to essentially pull her into the truck. He called Roper Express Care several times, but they never answered. He pulled her out of the truck and to the door. They opened the door and an employee immediately met them at the door. As they look at Aubrey---CLEARLY SEEING she needs help immediately ---and they say, "we aren't seeing any more patients". (They are still open for another 45 minutes) Glen said "she's very sick and I think she needs an IV" ----I told him if she was very dehydrated which I suspected, they should give her IV fluids and she would feel better---- They said "well we don't do IV's anymore, you'll have to go to the ER"Aubrey then collapsed in the waiting room. At the same time, Aubrey needed the bathroom immediately, so she was directed to the bathroom. Again, she could barely walk, so Glen took her from the floor to the bathroom, as they stood by and watched. Once in the bathroom, she did her business, then collapsed in the bathroom floor (a second time she collapsed) and could not get up. She could barely lift her arm to give her hand to Glen. She could not get up at all. Could not raise her body, and Glen couldn't get her up either. Roper Express Care employees (INCLUDING A Physicians Assistant (PA), said they weren't going to help her because they "weren't going to risk hurting themselves" in the process. They looked at her from across the room. NOONE checked her or attempted to talk to her to see if she was okay. NOONE checked a blood pressure or pulse or anything. NOONE considered checking her pupils or head, or anything. NOTHING. She wasn't talking, but they did not care to provide any care at all. By the way, THIS IS ILLEGAL. ILLEGAL. They just let her lay in the bathroom floor-not knowing if she may have been dying. They called for an EMS. And let her continue to lie in the bathroom floor without assessing anything after she collapsed in their floor and could not get up. EMS staff came into their facility and scooped her quickly off the bathroom floor and put her in the ambulance. Apparently they could not get a blood pressure as they threw her feet up over her head. Her heart rate was 161. After her feet were over her head, they got a blood pressure of 56/41. They told her they needed her feet over her head to keep her conscious. She was taken to the nearest ER (7:45) to be stabilized. This was St. Francis. Needless to say, she was whisked in, IV placed and fluids poured into her. Labs drawn. They attempted a set of blood pressures called orthostatics after 3 bags of fluid. She failed this with a systolic (top number) blood pressure that went to 66 with standing, and heart rate 130's/140's standing up. Her blood pressures continued to drop despite more bags of fluid. Vomiting stopped with antiemetics, but continued nausea and diarrhea. The ER was concerned with her continued unstable blood pressure, so they sent her for a CT scan, sent lactic acid, and additional labs. When she returned from CT, they put in a second large bore IV, sent 2 sets of blood cultures and continued more fluids. They were deciding on ICU or other admission. Beds were full in the hospital so it was a wait and she didn't get to leave the ER until 4:30 Wednesday afternoon. She got more fluids and antibiotics, antiemetics and attempted to rest. Her CT showed severe Colitis and they admitted her with Colitis, Severe dehydration and Sepsis (suspected sepsis) Her cultures came back negative over the next couple days. She finally got discharged on antibiotics, antiemetics, and instructions for intake. Yesterday she was able to eat 2 yogurt parfaits, otherwise has only been able to eat a few bites here and there. Diarrhea continues, as does intermittent nausea and intestinal upset. Today, she feel a little better, but essentially no energy and requiring more rest. We don't have a lot of answers. The doctors in the ER and hospital were stumped as to how sick she was, how unstable she was over the course of several hours. We are thankful for all the prayers, and for her recovering. And now we know..... NEVER to go to, or trust ROPER EXPRESS CARE ever again. We could very easily have had a different outcome. read more

I visited this facility on 08/09/22 and waited for approximately 2 1/2 hours. During that time, I noticed that at least three people who arrived after me were seen first. An intake nurse finally noticed that I was wondering what was going on and made sure I was seen next. Once I was in the treatment room, I was greeted by a nonchalant doctor who ordered several tests and an X-ray. I waited again for the technicians. After four hours, I finally was given a preliminary diagnosis and was told that my test results should be back within twenty-four hours. After two days with no response, I called their office and the receptionist advised that she would have the nurse call me. I did not receive a call back, so I called again the next day. The receptionist forwarded my call to a nurse who was impatient and, frankly, rude. She advised me that most of my tests were normal, but that one test had detected several types of bacteria. When I asked if any treatment was required, she said no and pretty much hung up the phone. I called back to complain to a supervisor, but as of today, I have not received a response. I subsequently made an appointment with my own doctor. When I explained this situation, he immediately asked me why they didn't put me on antibiotics! This was my worst experience with an urgent care facility, and I will not be returning. Good customer service is important to me, but I received neither good service nor good care. read more

They close at 8 pm. We were turned away last night at 7:20 pm being told they had reached capacity when we asked for help with an abcess in an armpit. It may have been true, I think they just didn't want to help us. When we went for Covid two months ago at 7:45 pm on a Saturday night, they were fine and helped us. Went in with my husband. We sat there for just over 2 hours! He tested at home for Covid, we saw everyone before we go there go in. Makes sense! Then people came in after us for an hour and kept getting called back immediately. My husband wanted to leave. I went and asked the receptionist should we have made an appointment? She said we don't take appointments. We waited an additional 10 minutes and finally went up and told her we wanted our money back. She did not say a word about why or I am sorry you waited 2 hours and everyone after you went in to see someone! We went to Doctors Care right down the road and got in to see a Doctor in 10 minutes! Just rude! No explanation of why? We had to wait 2 hours? This wasn't the emergency room! Do you not take care of people with Covid??? I went in for severe back pain and requested an xray to rule out certain things . Ive had many xrays in my life and know what they can and cant see. It was saturday, 2 weeks of terrible pain so wanted to start somewhere. If all came back good i would get with my normal doc and schedule an MRI. The recepionist was very nice. There was one person in the waiting room. They got me back in 20-30 min. However i sat for an hour before anyone came in. The nurse came in, asked what was going on, i explained, she said oh, sounds like it may be xyz . I said well i cant do anything with the pain. Can you get an xray. She said we normally dont for back pain. We only do xrays if we think something may be broken. What do you want to rule out and accomplish with an xray? She was ready to half ass assume a diagnosis within less then 2 minutes and then question me twice why i thought i needed an xray. She finally ordered one and the xray tech was just as rude and judgemental as the nurse. So 2.5 hrs for a 10 min visit and questioning me like i was on trial. I checked out , left and will never return. Very unprofessional. The only reason they got 2 stars is because of the receptionist. I do NOT recommend. read more
