I have been here several times and each experience has been different but it's been great each time. The atmosphere is fun and welcoming everyone talks and really seems happy to be there. I went in for an all over color and cut. I had so many ideas but was unsure what would be best. I talked with Savannah prior to the appointment to discuss my options and when I arrived we talked about what I wanted and didn't want. She was so friendly about my questions and concerns, she explained the reasonings behind her recommendations and it made me feel empowered to make my decisions accordingly. When I was concerned about pricing she didn't push the more expensive option on me but she helped guide me to a more affordable option that still gave a similar effect. overall I'm thrilled with the results and will be seeing her again! read more

It's gone. My beautiful long thick hair was hacked all the way to the top of my head when all I wanted was a minor trim. How could this have even happened?! I'm in shock and completely devastated. Years. Years of growth taken from me. It's not even fixable with the random lengths from top to bottom and shearing out of the volume with her thinning blade that never should have touched my hair either. My hair was down to my waist. Now its right below chin one one side. Back is shorter than front and long strands they missed. It's horrible! And I paid 300 dollars. Where it's shorter in back my scalp is now burning.. I was going to donate hair to wigs for kids , she didn't hear me and it just scattered to floor. Gutted. Do not go to this salon. Let me tell you something, if you are looking to get a good haircut by a super friendly stylist, you need to book Amber. I have gotten my haircut by her twice now, and those two times I got an outstanding haircut. I am someone who uses reference pictures to show her what I want, and both times she gave me exactly what I showed her. As for the salon itself, it is very clean, modern, and has a great aesthetic. I was not pleased with the last service there. Maybe due to overbooking or not paying attention to time, I had to wait 45 minutes after my appointment time before I was seen. The person was shown a picture of how I wanted the back cut, yet she chose to do something totally different with discussing it with me. Lots of gaps, embarrassing actually. The owner refused to contact me despite multiple attempts to reach out to her. Will never return. Beware...just because they have a license does not mean they can style or cut hair. read more

I don't know buy the owner and a few more hair stylist messed my child's hair up so bad and they had to go elsewhere in cookeville to have it fixed as best as they could. At first I had a great experience there, but after about three times my stylist at this salon began booking multiple clients together and rotated between us which equated to a 3 hour hair appointment. This got old fast especially when I was paying top dollar for my hair services there. I discussed this with the stylist twice and she continued to run behind and book multiple clients so I took that as my complaints weren't important to her so I left! read more

Probably the best experience at a salon that I have had. The owner and hairstylist, Meghan, were incredibly friendly and took the time to interact and converse with me. We had a misunderstanding about pricing (that was totally my fault) and they were so kind and accommodating. Meghan really took her time and did my hair with excellence. Highly recommend! BEWARE! I would choose no stars!! Roots Salon stylist Ali has been doing my hair for 5 years. Within that time Ali has switched salons multiple times and I have followed her as a loyal client. It was always done professionally. I was always 100 percent satisfied with Ali's services until she started working for Roots Salon. Since Ali has worked for Roots Salon, their cheap product line has been unable to cover my gray roots, and was the main reason I went there. I informed Ali of my dissatisfaction. With multiple attempts to try to cover my grays, the product still failed. I had to spend more money on other higher priced services and products to get the result I wanted. But, those extra services in attempt to make my hair correct, I was informed by the owner Emily of the salon that in order to correct my hair the prices have increased dramatically. My hair price was going from 70 dollars to 150 dollars. The owner Emily approached me and her solution was in order to keep the price down, was for me to pick another stylist who is not as professionally experienced as Ali. The owner Emily of the salon called me and asked what she could do. Emily said to pick another stylist. I was only going to Roots salon for Ali my stylist . I said there are other stylists and hair salons that I wantEd to talk to before I make a decision. I told her of my dissatisfaction, and she rudely told me Roots Salon would be unable to accommodate me as a client and rudely hung up the phone and cancelled my next two appointments. Beware of the price gauging of Roots Salon. Because of the owner Emily's attitude, the name of Roots Salon should be changed to RUDE SALON.
