Really good experience from start to finish with Dr. Abedin and Ms. Amy. A root canal is rarely a joy, but they really did a most professional job. The moreso as the resorption on my affected tooth was more advanced than anticipated. Subsequent accolades on the work done from my excellent DDS Dr. Roy reaffirm the above. Dentistry these days is largely a commodified business; Dr Abedin and Ms. Amy really made you feel the personal touch. Zero impression that the patient is on a conveyor belt as in other practices. We'll see how the final result turns out, as I have heard more than a few anecdotes about "root canal failures" which apparently occur after some years. So far so good with Dr. Abedin ! Let me start off by disclosing that I am a dentist. I recently found myself in the unfortunate position of needing a root canal treatment. Yes, dentists need dental treatment too! Being professionally acquainted with Dr. Abedin and her results, I didn't hesitate to book myself an appointment to be treated by her. The whole process of booking the appointment, finding the office and getting checked in was easy and smooth. What really impressed me, though, was Dr. Abedin's attention to detail. She is calm, cheerful and reassuring every step of the way. She took her time and made SURE that I was well and truly numb before proceeding with any treatment. As a clinician, I appreciated seeing an expert at work. The procedure was uneventful for me, and I partly listened to a podcast, and partly napped as I was so relaxed in the dental chair. One thing that I was truly unprepared for was that Dr. Abedin takes extra steps to assure a superior clinical outcome. I wish that I could truly convey what a big deal that is. She does not get payed anymore because of it, insurance does not reimburse her any extra. She spends more time and material simply because she wants to deliver superior long term results! Finally, I can't say enough nice things about her staff, they were truly gentle and kind! I want to add that as a dentist I have seen the results of her work and was always impressed and that is why I booked myself with her, but I was blown away by the experience itself! Was told they were in the network of my dental insurance before getting the root canal. However, it turned out they were actually not contracted provider and the insurance only paid for the average cost for contracted providers. And their charge is double of the average cost so we have to pay out of our own pocket. read more

We need more doctors like Dr Abedin! My experience at Roots was not what I had expected from a dental office. Her receptionist booked me for an emergency appointment and handled all my paperwork prior to my appointment. I wasn't triple booked so there was no wait time which I loved. Also, I was impressed by how patient dr Abedin was when I was addressing my concerns regarding my root canal because I wasn't sure if I really needed one. She was definitely conservative with the treatments she recommended so we decided to watch my tooth instead of quickly moving forward with procedures I wasn't sure I needed. It's refreshing to see doctors that actually listen and provide a high quality of care instead of the usual medical attitude which seems to be "let's get started on your procedure because you have great insurance". A painless root canal?? Yes! This was my second root canal (ugh, right?) with Dr. Abedin and I wasn't quite as anxious this second time around because my first experience went so well. I'm very impressed with Dr. Abedin's competence, kindness, professionalism, intelligence and compassion. She prescribed a strong Acetaminophen to stop the pain pre- and post-surgery, and by the time I ran out of pills there was no pain. She was able to drill through my crown with no damage. Dr. Shadi Abedin is absolutely wonderful. An extreme phobia got me into the position to need a root canal and she handled it exceptionally. Another dental practice told me removal of the tooth was the only option. I sought a second opinion and Dr. Abedin managed expectations but told me she'd do her best.
