We sold our house and are downsizing and needed to clear out our house after living there for over 20 years. We met with Cheryl and her husband Keith. They walked us through the process, we scheduled a date for the 3 day sale. A few days before the sale they set everything up, organized and priced items. Advertised and took pictures of everything. the sale ended today and almost everything is cleared out. Excellent communication throughout the process. I would not personally recommend Root Estate Liquidators, owned by Cheryl Root, based on my own experience. Throughout the process, I felt the service was less professional and more disappointing than I expected. Many items also seemed priced higher than what I've typically seen at other estate sales. For example, everyday mugs were marked around $8 each, which is more than I'm used to seeing at thrift or secondhand shops. I also found the communication style to be abrupt and somewhat dismissive at times--both in my interactions and in a separate interaction a friend had when they reached out with a question before the sale. The final cleanup did not match the expectations I believed had been set. In my view, only a small amount had been done, the trash bins were overfilled, and several items that still seemed usable to me had been thrown away. Overall, my experience left me feeling that the sale was not handled with the level of care or professionalism I had hoped for. I regret hiring Root Estate Liquidators and, based on my experience, would personally consider looking into other estate liquidation services. read more

Cheryl and Keith are great at their job. The prices are fair . They do a great presentation of items. I have gone to many estate sales where things are just thrown on a table to go through, or the prices are sky high just so they can reduce by 50% to what they should have been in the beginning. I have been to two of this estate sale companys sale and each time, 99% of the items are not priced and the husband directs everyone to his wife, Cheryl for pricing. I feel if you are going to take the time to put items out, PRICE THE ITEMS!! She prices stuff way too high and wait times are unorganized. I will pass on this company for now on. The second we walked in to the estate sale the lady running the sale was immediately rude to my girlfriend telling her to "move along" as soon as she walked into the door. My girlfriend was simply looking at items on the first table she saw and didn't know it was a hold table, we had literally arrived 10 seconds prior. When the lady told her it was a hold table my girlfriend apologized and started moving on to other things and the lady was still harping at her about not touching anything on the table, don't touch anything, keep moving, and my girlfriend was already moved on to other things. It was completely unnecessary and started us off on the wrong foot. Starting to look around, we noticed that 90% of the prices on items were absurdly high. We go to estate sales every week and have never seen items priced so high. They were asking 2-3x the prices on similar things we have seen at other sales. While looking around, we did find a few things that were reasonably priced, and while waiting to pay for them I saw the lady running the sale be uneccesarily rude to another shopper asking pricing on clothes. Half of the things at the sale were priced super high, and the other half had no prices at all, so the shopper was asking prices of items and the lady was not giving her any direct answers. The lady said that each clothing item would range in price, not giving her any helpful information. The shopper said there were a bunch of people looking at the clothes asking for prices and instead of going to help them, she instead said "you better not tell anyone any prices have them come to me" she then went into the clothing area and loudly proclaimed that all the prices would vary, giving nobody the information they needed. Once i got to check out, I just wanted to leave as soon as possible, paid, and left. Some of my items were unpriced. When I got to my car and looked at my items, I realized that the price I was chargef was $30-40 more than I should have paid for what I took home. With all the great estate sales and estate sale companies in this area, I would reccomend saving your time and money by going to sales run by a different company. read more

Wow this company is THE WORST!We we're told before entering that we would have to leave our bags on the hold table. I had no problem with this but when I started to pile items on the hold table. One lady(with glasses) asked me if I was going to buy all of it. I told her that I didn't know of the prices of anything. NOTHING was marked and no price lists anywhere! She started to go through everything I had piled up and told me a price for the total. I told her I hadn't thoroughly went through anything yet since I didn't know the cost. I would have definitely bought it all without examining for stains and holes if they were a dollar. Since she said that most of them were $5 . I proceeded to go through them and I found three items with stains and one with holes. I physically went and took these items back to the rooms that they were in myself. I ended up picking up more items on the way back and I brought them back up to my other items. She then again asked what items I was getting and I told her and she gave me another total but I didn't realize that she was charging me $5 for the cat book and $10 for a pair of sneakers that were missing the inner padding . I told her that I didn't want either of those. She then told me that she "couldn't keep doing this" and took the stuff that I wanted to purchase away. I asked her if I could at least have the other pair of sneakers and the pants and she said, "No we are done" and walked away with those items. This is the second time she has treated me rudely. The last time a camera I bought was not put in the bag with my other items and I didn't realize it till I got home. When I called on the phone she was super rude to me then too. I just wanted to make sure that the camera was still there because I had paid for it. She said "well you better hurry up and come take a look". I didn't bother writing a review then because I know people have bad days and you never know what people are going through. But when you run a business, you have to leave all that behind and treat your customers with respect. I will definitely not be shopping with company anymore. I have never seen any company with as many bad reviews as I see here either. How are they still in business!? read more

No prices on any items except large pieces of furniture. Cheryl over prices the items. I asked if I could leave items on the holding table and return with money. She said items had to be paid for in order to leave them on holding table so my friend gave me the money. I was running late for an appointment so asked if I could return for the items I paid for. She said no. Then I wanted to carry the items in the small box that they were in at the holding table and she said no I would not have the box. Frustrated I walked out saying I would be back for my items. Another worker said she would carry them for me but half way down the block she called to give me the box! I just live around the corner from the estate sale. So very unprofessional!! read more
