I purchased an item that had a sticker indicating it came with two pieces. I admit I should have read it more carefully before leaving and paying but after realizing the missing piece, I simply went back to ask about it hoping to there to be no misunderstanding once I came back to ask. She was immediately dismissive, frustrated, and raised her voice as I asked. She insisted she only charged me $2 for the item. I brought back everything I purchased and explained that I had calculated the total and believed I had paid the full price. I remembered she had written down each item's price while calculating, so I politely asked if she could double check the transaction. Rather than taking a moment to look into it, she refused, ACCUSED me of hiding items, and claimed I shouldn't have taken one piece of they were supposed to be together in the first place. I wasn't asking for anything for free I was only asking for clarification since I technically paid for two items. I was honestly caught off guard by how dismissive and disrespectful the interaction became over a simple question. Even if there was a misunderstanding, I don't think anyone deserves to be spoken to that way and unjustly accused/blame.

Estate sellers work hard, so I don't write negative reviews on them for things like pricing, hold table chaos, and other things. I just remember them if it's a pattern, and then choose to not go to their sales. I do want to highlight the ones who stand out though! We have had great experiences at the sales run by Burns Estate Liquidators. Here are some thoughts: Hold Tables: Multiple and well "guarded". Sold Cards: Before entering, staff explained how sold cards worked. There was no confusion on how to mark larger items you wanted to buy. Pricing: Day 1 pricing was fine. Estate sellers are trying to make money for the family and for the business. Some companies take that to the extreme. They forget they're also trying to encourage buyers to come and buy. Burns seemed to keep that three-pronged understanding at the forefront. Price Tags: Every item had a price tag. Bulk items had very clear signs with pricing. If you've been to these sales, you know how important knowing pricing is, without having to constantly find someone. Staffing: Six people ran a very large and involved sales like a streamlined machine. We have been impressed. This is a very business-savvy company, who clearly keeps their brand protection in mind when working. Other companies lose site of that sometimes. Live Streamers: Many estate sale companies are allowing live streamers to set up camp inside a home and have live auctions during the sale. It is absolutely annoying and seems disrespectful to the family. We haven't seen this at a Burns sale yet. We've been very pleased with Burns' sales and I hope this review helps families who are looking for a company, as well as buyers at future sales.

The items I wanted, I was sure, couldn't really be $6 each for a placemat. Additionally they weren't intact, but were unique. I decided, if that was the case, at half off it's about what I might pay at a normal estate sale. I asked the person taking money in the garage if $6 was the price per mat even with flaws. She discounted to $5 then half off which still falls above your previous claim. It was eye opening to see the level of price gouging. I had been told "Burns is the most expensive in town, which is why they get the high-end (greediest) clients" So, say what you want, I came, I saw, I reported. Lady comes to tell us that in Texas people know to get in a line...most of us are huddled in the only shade available. And isn't that the purpose of having a list? Call the names, what good does getting in a line do if you aren't going in order? Talk about NOT ORGANIZED. If I ever see they are running an estate sale, I'll avoid. So many of us just left after the lecture of not standing in a line...I also heard they were over priced, but that's the least of their problems. Absolute shit show.
