RE: Absolut Care in SALAMANCA: I would not leave my DOG in their care. I could tell immediately…read morethat the place was extremely understaffed and over the course of a couple weeks, I found a total of 2 employees that were (sort of) caring. The rest couldn't care less that your loved one is old, or sick, or even dead. The supervisor (at least on the 2nd floor) is completely incompetent. I am not exaggerating folks-- unless you're standing over your loved one 24-7 to see that their needs are met, they won't get squat. (And most people don't put their loved one in a nursing home if they're able to spend 24-7 with them). My brother was an end-stage cancer patient that only stayed at this place for a week before he passed. And that was far too long. It was early on his second day when my brother started going through withdrawals. He'd been transferred from the hospital where he was on a hefty dose of pain medication. So I asked when he'd gotten his pain meds last. They said they hadn't given him any since his arrival because they had to order them from the pharmacy (which they hadn't done yet). I was furious, and admittedly, I started ranting about how he could suffer a heart attack, among other things, from just stopping his medication like that. They hadn't even REALIZED YET that he was supposed to have gotten this medication yet. I asked them to check his chart/notes from the hospital, and it was one of several medicines that were listed--just not administered to him. Also on day two I asked why he wasn't given a pillow... they apologized, said they hadn't noticed. In two days, nobody noticed that he was sleeping flat on his back with no pillow? At any rate, after I asked, they brought in a plastic-coated pillow and said they didn't have any pillow cases available. (I ran home and got one). Seriously, the list could go on and he was only there for a short time. I was told that they are owned by a large company that only cares about making money--but that doesn't even begin to explain lack of compassion or lack of common sense that I saw in just about every staff member there. Disgusting.
