OMGosh! We went here yesterday (5/14/23) for Mother's Day dinner at 4pm just in time for the early bird menu. We loved it! The food was absolutely delicious! My 80 year old mother ordered the stuffed tilapia (which by the way I forgot to take photos of everyone's dish except mine). My mom usually doesn't eat everything on her plate and she did this time! I ordered the coconut shrimp with mashed sweet potatoes and coleslaw (coleslaw could use a bit of sweetness). I asked what the dipping sauce for the coconut shrimp was and our waiter said just 2 ingredients: raspberry jam & horseradish. So good! The service was great. The gentleman that served us was very attentive to refills, sauces, etc. The food was hot and came out in a timely manner. I'm actually surprised we hadn't gone here before because we live so close. We had a delicious meal here tonight! I had the Tuscany Basa with sides of RJ's potatoes and vegetable of the day and my husband had the Scallop Rockefeller with fried potato salad and cole slaw. Both meals were DELICIOUS!! I always say I'm going to get something different since I usually order the Tuscany Basa but then I get the Tuscany Basa! It's so good and different usual fish dishes. I can't eat shellfish so my options are limited to fin fish. My husband LOVES the Scallop Rockefeller; he's had it several times and always gobbles it up. Since introducing my friends to Roosterfish Grill, they have returned with their families and friends. They love the food, the wait staff and the atmosphere. Everything about our experience was excellent! Having seen it earlier in the day, we decided to give it a try on our way home, so glad we did! The place was packed (Friday evening), but we were seated in about half the time expected (10 mins vs 29-30). There is an early bird dinner menu, it's FL that was likely also crowded . Inside and patio seating is a available, as well as a bar area. We opted for "first available" seating which presented inside. Service was excellent (shout out to our sever Mike). The food was delicious and just as ordered. The service time was very reasonable (full house Fri dinner crowd). It will definitely be on our dining rotation when we are in the area. read more

I recently was the host for Jersey Girls living in Pinellas County. The service was great. Our food was excellent. We were expecting 20 ladies so we had the back room. We get pretty loud at times. The scallops were huge and very tasty. Everyone commented that their food was very good. read more

We came here because we were in the neighborhood to check on an assisted living facility for my dear mother. Well, we needed the excuse to have a drink anyhoo. We sat at the bar, which was not extremely busy but wound up getting populated with a set of regulars before long. We began by splitting a bowl of NE clam chowder. My wife, being a Mainer, said she had to try it. It was certainly quite serviceable and came to us quickly. Decent amount of chopped clams and taters. I'm not so sure it was as thick/viscous as it ought but still a nice beginning. I must express a wee bit of disappointment, however. No lobster bisque; they're out! Grrrr!!! Entrees, you ask? They had a three different lobster specials, the first two involving Maine lobster. Choices there were stuffed or steamed; Queen Bee chose the latter. Still $28 for a 1 and a half pound lobster and a $2 to replace a side with a house salad; I find that a bit absurd. Her other side, BTW: RG Potatoes... I opted for fried catfish from early bird menu with chosen sides of fries and slaw. I also asked for an order of hush puppies for $1. Cheaper than ordering the dinner, which for $5 more gets you 3 pieces of catfish rather than 2. No way! I like hush puppies anyway, and they usually go nicely with catfish. She loved the bleu cheese dressing on her salad, which was mixed greens, croutons, grape tomatoes and red onion. She even said it's one of the best bleu cheese dressings she's ever had. Okay; I'll take her word for it. It's salad; who cares about rabbit food anyway? Queen Bee is VERY picky with lobster. When it got to us, she took one bite and she was good with it. She cleaned that thing out like a Hoovermatic with a hernia. Her other side, BTW: RG potatoes, which is just a small helping of buttered red bliss potatoes. Big deal. I'd be hooting and hollering over the amount of food for the amount of money. My catfish was nicely cooked/fried. Delightful cornmeal based breading on two tender, medium-sized catfish fillets. Slaw was tasty and actually appeared homemade as the menu claims. Fries, meantime, basically fell off the Sysco truck just like at most other spots. Hush puppies were an order of six fairly flavorful fellow fall-off Sysco sidekicks to them fries. Not sure I'd really go out of my way to return here. If I find myself around here again, maybe if I have no other options. However I don't see the later was happening either. Service was not bad either; a bit better than mildly indifferent. A little better than mediocre just like much of my experience here. They DO have fantastic happy hour drink prices however. Nothing like cheap booze; oh, dear! read more

Good evening to all, I stopped in this evening for dinner and I must say I was surprised by the amount of rude and disrespectful comments being made by Staff, Bartender and Customers alike. The topic of conversation seem to involve a local customer who has a hygienic problem. They made remarks such as needing a bucket of bleach and water to clean him. He wasn't allowed around other customers because he may offend them with his presence. Nobody knows if I was his son, his brother or his family. They took it upon themselves on Easter mind you to make fun of another human who wasn't even there. I closed my tab in discussed and left. How the staff of a restaurant (or anyone) would let other employees make these allegations and allow customers to talk so negatively about another is beyond me. I hope you do not have the same experience I had this evening. I have been coming here for years after church service for lunch and it has always been a pleasant experience. It's never pleasant when your server has a nasty attitude and is having a bad night. If you don't want to work in service then don't imo. The food was bland and took over 40 minutes and incorrect. On top of that the server told us that it wasn't her fault because she didn't cook it. Definitely got the teamwork vibe from her. In any case the fried food tasted funny as though the fryer oil hadn't been changed in a while or needed to be. When we told the server she literally said there was nothing she could do. I really wanted to like the food from Roosterfish but I was quite disappointed. I ordered the fire cracker shrimp and Alfredo pasta bowl. The shrimp - very fresh and great flavor, but there were only 5... for $10. A little too expensive for me. I kept thinking how similar the flavor was to bonefish but they give 3 times the shrimp for a similar price. The pasta - big portion size but the noodles were so over cooked they didn't taste like noodles. It was more like mushy sauce. We were in the mood of some take-out Italian food and Roosterfish has been on my list for a very long time so we decided to check it out. Here's my take on the experience: Quality of food:  Good. We ordered a side of calamari and RG's Alfredo Pasta Bowl with chicken. The calamari was hand breaded, lightly fried and served with RG's marinara sauce along with cheesy/garlic bread. I really appreciated that the calamari wasn't overly oily or chewy. The pasta bowl came with RG's creamy and garlicy Alfredo sauce and was seasoned to perfection. Decor: n/a. This was a takeout order. Cleanliness: n/a. This was a takeout order. Service: n/a. This was a takeout order. Price:  A bit expensive. The calamari was $12 and the pasta bowl with chicken was $18. I feel this is about $3-4 more each item than the average when compared to other restaurants in the same category as Roosterfish. If you're in the mood of some good Italian food and are willing to pay a little more than typical then Roosterfish is a good pick. read more

Our family stopped in for drinks and to raise a glass to a lost family member. The service was great, they accommodated our group of 11 with no issues. To those of you under 50 years old, if you decide to come here for lunch or dinner, you WILL be the youngest person in the building. But don't let that deter you, there is some decent seafood here. I've got to say I've had some good meals here at Roosterfish. The hard part about dining here is their extensive menu, so many choices. On my last visit I enjoyed fried pollock fish, and six plump fried shrimp with a choice of two sides for $13.59. What I would stay away from are their chowders. They have a crab corn chowder, and a clam chowder. I wouldn't waste my money on that again. My bride enjoyed her dinner very much, it was tilapia piccata, loaded with mushrooms and capers. I Don't Get It We hadn't been to Roosterfish Grill for many years. I'd known it to be relatively inexpensive and fairly good. The positive reviews kept piling up, so I thought I'd give it another try. The place was packed on a Friday evening with a line at the door. I'm glad I had made a reservation which got us a table in just a couple minutes. The mojito I ordered was quite large for a low price. There wasn't much rum in it, but it was refreshing. We moved on to share a bowl of lobster bisque. It was quite thick with too much corn starch or something similar. The flavor wasn't that good and we only ate about half of it. For mains we had Mango Mahi and Chicken Oscar. The mahi was OK. The chicken was a little overcooked and the sauce on top was gloopy--again too much corn starch? Prices were OK. Service was friendly and efficient but rushed. Atmosphere is a bit strange. In some ways it's a standard fish house. But the paper towel rolls hanging above each table feels like a beach dive. As I say, I don't get it. However, lots of others seem to. Roosterfish Grill obviously doesn't need my vote--or another visit. read more
