The doctor here was fine, I thought…read more The staff is another story. I had an appointment set up FOR MONTHS for January 24, 2025, and the day before the appointment, they called me to tell me they were canceling the appointment because I needed blood work BEFORE the appointment. That was THEIR job to tell me that in advance of the appointment, and they had nearly 3 months since the previous appointment to do it, not the day before, but WHAT DO THEY CARE that I'm now OUT of medication and I had already booked my entire day of OTHER appointments and errands around that appointment which involves 30+ minutes to and from Yuba City in each direction. So now I STILL have to go to Yuba City tomorrow for everything else, but not for this, the main reason I was going in the first place. I asked to speak to the doctor and was told I couldn't, so I told his staff member to tell the doctor he was fired and for her to F*CK off. The incompetence and the lack of caring here is so mind boggling for simple things like scheduling and getting blood work in advance that THEY NEED TO TELL YOU ABOUT IN A TIMELY FASHION that it REALLY makes me question the medical advice as well. I AM DONE with this sh*thole place. I am NOT putting up with this never ending stupidity and a staff that doesn't even care if not coming in means you don't have anymore medication either. After this call I called up my doctor who referred me to this nephrologist and told him this nephrologist was "fired" and I'm not going back or working with them. Instead, I go tomorrow (now) to see MY doctor to discuss in person and get referred to a NEW nephrologist who has a competent staff who doesn't treat me like an object instead of a person, and who has some empathy and compassion for other people. That's now tomorrow 20 minutes in one direction, 20 minutes back, 30+ minutes to Yuba City to do everything EXCEPT what I was originally organizing that date around on Friday, and 30+ back after that -- and still after ALL THAT I will at some point have to have THIS appointment with a nephrologist with a DIFFERENT nephrologist at a DIFFERENT time, and even more wasteful driving, all because this doctor's staff can't do their job. If you've got staff that absolutely don't care about patients, I don't care if you are a decent doctor, all of you should be looking for something else to do with your lives. I doubt the staff here would even make it working a drive-thru. Goodby to all of you and good riddance. I hope your lives are just as awful as you make it for others.

Dr. Michael Borah is one of the leading physicians in this field and he is your man! He is also a primary care physician at California Pacific Medical Center on the East Campus (2100 Webster). I was referred to Dr. Borah after I had experienced a whole chartful of problems (later, I learned it was acute anemia from my kidneys shutting down). He handled my care with immediate and safe attention to my ailment. Instead of a blood transfusion for my anemia, he personally injected me with Procrit every month until my condition improved. If you ever have a kidney problem or an urinary tract infection (UTI) for example, check with him. Dr. Borah has a very professional demeanor, but for some unknown reason, he reminds me of "Jack Benny" - the nuance, the stare????

At first, my impression with Dr. Borah was that he was too into drugs as therapy and not open minded to alternative solutions. I come to realize that he is conservative when it comes to drug treatment, but sometimes that's what has to happen to preserve what kidney function I had remaining. He never prescribes meds too early or too much, likes to be very conservative is the impression I get. I had a total hip replacement surgery which could easily crash my kidney and after surgery, Dr. Borah visited me every other day to see how I was doing. We did our best, my kidneys did progressively get worst after my hip surgery and we are now waiting on a donor transplant. Luckily, no dialysis just yet... I seem to holding out very well dispute while waiting on a transplant. I can update this review after my transplant. But in the meantime, I highly recommend Dr. Borah for his expertise with the kidneys.
