How long did you have the problem?…read more
I had been experiencing acute and increasingly severe foot and heel pain related to plantar fasciitis, which I believe was aggravated by prolonged standing. Although I had only been dealing with the pain for approximately one week before seeing Dr. Bastomski, it progressed very quickly. What initially seemed like something I could manage became painful enough to interfere with walking, standing, working, and even completing the simplest activities at home.
By the time I saw Dr. Bastomski for my first treatment, I was at the point where I knew I needed more than temporary relief--I needed someone who could help determine what was actually contributing to the problem.
How was it affecting your life?
The pain had a significant impact on both my professional and personal life. As a registered nurse, being on my feet is not optional. My work requires prolonged standing, walking, and caring for patients throughout long shifts. I am accustomed to pushing through difficult days, but this pain reached the point where I physically could not tolerate being on my feet. I ultimately had to call off work for several consecutive days, which is something I do not take lightly.
At home, it was equally frustrating. As a parent, a working professional, and someone who is normally very independent and active, suddenly struggling with basic daily activities was extremely difficult for me. Walking around the house, completing household responsibilities, and simply standing for any length of time became painful. I found myself spending much of my time resting in bed because putting pressure on my foot was so uncomfortable.
It was surprising how quickly one area of pain could affect nearly every aspect of my daily life.
What other treatment(s) had you tried?
Before seeing Dr. Bastomski, I genuinely tried everything I could think of to manage the symptoms on my own. I rested and iced my foot and heel, stretched my calves and arches, used heating patches and over-the-counter pain-relief measures, purchased new shoes with better support, and tried supportive insoles.
Some of these measures provided temporary relief, but nothing seemed to address the actual problem. The pain continued, and I still could not comfortably return to my normal routine or work responsibilities.
How did you hear about Dr. Bastomski?
I was referred to Dr. Bastomski through a personal recommendation, and I am incredibly grateful that I decided to follow through with it.
Briefly describe the treatment done.
From the beginning, Dr. Bastomski approached my condition differently than I expected. He did not simply focus on the exact location where I was experiencing pain. He took the time to evaluate my overall balance, gait, strength, movement, and body mechanics to better understand what might be contributing to my symptoms.
His treatment incorporated a holistic combination of functional and chiropractic techniques. What impressed me most was how individualized his approach felt. Rather than treating one painful area in isolation, he looked at how my entire body was functioning and how different areas could potentially be contributing to the pain and imbalance I was experiencing.
His attention to detail, patience, and ability to explain what he was assessing made me feel that I was being treated as a whole person rather than simply as a symptom.
What was your response to the treatment?
This was the part of my experience that truly amazed me.
After just one session, I noticed a significant and immediate difference--not only in my pain, but also in my balance, gait, movement, and overall strength. Considering how much I had been struggling in the days leading up to that appointment, I honestly did not expect to experience such a noticeable improvement so quickly.
As both a parent and a registered nurse, I have been exposed to many different approaches to healthcare and patient treatment. I naturally pay attention to how a healthcare professional assesses, communicates with, and cares for a patient. Dr. Bastomski's approach was unlike anything I had personally experienced before. His combination of functional and chiropractic techniques was comprehensive, thoughtful, and incredibly individualized.
