Tuesday is a great day to go as they have a couple's special that included a large popcorn and 2 drinks along with 2 tickets to a movie for $45. It's the last season this year so make sure you enjoy this gem before they close. They do double features so you basically get a 2 movies for the price of your ticket and sometimes they will show 3 movies if you have the time to stay up past midnight.

The spaces closest to the screen are for smaller vehicles and midway back, it is for SUVs and minivans. Since I have a SUV, we were in the middle lanes. It was fine as we were able to see the screen. One thing I recommend is that you go watch movies that aren't dark (as in brightness) as Batman was hard to watch since we were further away and everything looked black. This was my error as I should have remembered that Batman movies are usually taking place at night. LOL The movie starts at twilight so there is still some light out. If John Wick played first, and Batman after when it's fully dark, then it may have been better. We would definitely come back but for movies that don't take place at night

Tickets are around $7 per adult, and you get to watch 2 movies. They also have an arcade and a huge food menu, which makes it feel more like a full night out instead of just watching a movie. The food itself is nothing amazing. We got the curly fries and they were a little soggy for our liking, but honestly I'd still order food there again because it feels like part of supporting the place. The whole spot has that small local community feel, and you can tell it's one of those places people keep coming back to for the experience. If you've never been to a drive-in before, this is such a fun one to try. I'd take this over a regular movie theater any day.

With high theatre prices, seeing more than one movie for less money is a gift. Especially where you can freely take whatever snacks you want (even if it's a whole meal that you somehow got there). And if you forgot your snacks/drinks, no worries because there is a shop where you can get food. There's also an arcade, so if you need something to do while you wait for the movie to start (other than reading a book or scrolling through social media), that's something.

"But I'll be back soon, and spin those words onto your website, I promise." So, in 2011, where could such a place be? Inside a movie theater, of course. And yep, I've been immersed in one of the most spectacular of all pursuits...the Port Townsend FIlm Festival. Three to four movies a day. A few chats with filmmakers, financiers, actors. And...I was one of the moderate festival goers. This festival is the Whole Enchilada, the Big Kahuna, the... Nevermind... here is a taste of the program, and you can see for yourself. Imagine. Three spectacular days. Great weather. Free outdoor theater on a big screen set up in the middle of Taylor Street. (The audience sits on bales of hay, of course. ) Spectacular views of the waterfront, free films at two other venues. (The Peter Simpson Free Cinema and the Pope Marine Theatre.) Not to mention Buck Henry, the 80 year old Hollywood filmwriter movie actor and comic. (The Graduate, Catch-22, Heaven Can Wait) A selection of films: "Koran By Heart" " Patriot Guard RIders" "Seeds of Change" "A Perfect Soldier" www.ptfilmfest.com I could continue...but do yourself a favor. Check out the website. And join me next year in Port Townsend for the thirteenth annual event. They don't call it "Dream City" for nothing... This is one downhome, easy-going, cheap, lively, uncrowded way to spend a summer's day. Or evening. DId I mention cheap???

The Lummi Nation island salmon lunch plate was $18 but it was wild salmon, pasta, bread and beans + water bottle. I like how they air grilled/smoked the fish. That line was the longest. Trident also had a stall where they were giving away shirts, key chains, fish oil, chocolate swag. The boat building offered a demo on sea urchins which i missed out on. They also had a Whatcom Maritime museum station where kids can build wooden boats. Enjoy coming to this place eventhough a bit far for us. It was nice to be by the water and free parking.

Parking at that time was a bit challenging but we manage to find a free parking lot close by and walk toward the festival. Once there we saw tons of vendors with all kind of marine info and education. My girls (ages 9 & 11) found the "Passport" section where the girls get their passport stamp as they go thru and learn about each booth. I find myself learning a few things too. Food court was loaded with an abundance of sea and non-sea food options. Nice that most if not all took credit cards. My meal pick was Fish and Chips from Fork & Fin food truck. A huge portion for $12( definitely shareable.) Girls got a huge hotdog ($5) from a hotdog stand. For dessert we grab some ice cream($2) next door to the hotdog stand. Only wish there was a water station so we could re-fill our water bottles instead of having to buy the plastic water bottle. Maybe next year a water conservation vendor would sponsor that to keep us water drinker from contributing to the plastic landfill and from the ocean. We headed to the main stage with all our food goodies to eat while enjoying some live music. Definitely a fun family festival for the whole family.
