Aitken Real estate were a pleasure to deal with whilst selling our home. From our first phone call requesting a 'get-together', we were so surprised to immediately receive a call and suggest a meeting on a Sunday afternoon, (before all our interstate visitors arrived for our son's wedding), and we would be meeting Steve Aitken, this left us very impressed. Steve outlined their whole selling strategy and their method ticked so many boxes with us we agreed to have Aitken real estate sell our home immediately. Working with us and our visitors, the wheels of motion for the sale began. Our first meeting was with Belinda who was really lovely and approachable, and with Austin who could only be described as a true gentleman. Aitken Real estate were fantastic with their communication and we were always informed regularly about potential buyers being shown through. Belinda and Austin worked very hard showing Families through from morning till the evenings whilst always giving us all relevant feedback during the selling process. After two very busy weeks our home sold at a great price with much excitement from my wife and I and we loved Steve's enthusiasm revealing the sale to us. Have had a couple of things repaired and keys cut here over the years, and have always been happy…read morewith the work and service. Around four weeks ago, I brought in my five year old Daniel Wellington watch to have the glass replaced, due to some fine scratches that had developed over several years of use. After paying $80 for the repair, I picked up the watch a couple of weeks ago. Three days later, when taking it off it fell about 20cm onto my bedside table and smashed instantly. This was a very minor impact that the original glass (and my other watch) have endured many times without issue. This suggested to me that the replacement glass was not strong enough and/or the repair made it more susceptible to breaking. I brought the watch back to the store last week and politely explained that I was unhappy with the quality of the repair and that I didn't believe such a minor impact should cause the glass to smash. Instead of listening to my concerns and trying to find a solution, the owner was extremely rude to me. He kept saying "it wasn't like that when you picked it up, was it?", even though I never suggested that it was returned to me broken. He essentially told me to pay for another repair or go away, and basically started serving another customer before we'd even finished speaking. Everyone (and assumably the owner) knows that watch glass (especially from a brand like Daniel Wellington) is designed to be strong enough to withstand day to day knocks and drops. If it wasn't, then people's watches would be smashing all the time! If replacement glass is lower quality and more likely to crack than the original, then I should have been warned of that beforehand. I tried resolving this a second time by writing an email to the owner, but was just sent a generic reply again refusing to repair the watch for free or offer me a refund. A complaint has now been submitted to Consumer Affairs Victoria. Judging by other negative reviews about the owner's rudeness and attitude, I'm clearly not alone. What a way to lose customers! Will be going somewhere else now.

I had two keys cut from this establishment after getting new locks installed from purchasing a new…read morehome. I gave the owner an original (which worked fine, this was one of the two keys given when the new locks were installed), to make 2 additional copies from. When I got home I tried the two new keys which worked fine. What I didn't realise till days later that the original id given him to copy from now didn't work. It refused to go any further than the first bump. Being new locks I wasn't about to force it and do any potential damage. I returned explaining the situation to which his first response was "it must be your lock". I then asked "how do the copies you made work, yet the copy I gave you stop working after I gave it to you to copy from"? To which he responded "I've been doing this 47 years mate and this has never happened before. It was nothing I did, I traced the key, I didn't even touch it". I said "so I've damaged it then? ok" as I start walking out thinking this guy has no interest in keeping a customer base and why would I make this up? As I'm walking out in disbelief he said " I would have cut you a new copy for free (which he absolutely SHOULD have done) if you'd been nice but you had an attitude so I won't now". Ok buddy, I've got the attitude. I just said "good luck" and will never return. Bloke is clearly incapable of accepting responsibility and I was compelled to share this with anyone considering seeking out this guys services. In one word, avoid.

He made all the changes we asked for, no matter how many small holes he had to crawl into. We found that the past owners had also been DIY electricians, meaning our house was in dire need of a full look over and re-wiring. He took care of all of these problems, of which there were many, and ensured we were living safe and sound.

They have a full choice of paint on site, and can tint to whatever shade you desire, as any good paint show should. I have picked up a couple of mis-tints here that perfectly fitted my needs, so my relationship with this store got off to a good start. I have been back for basic painting and sanding supplies a few times since. That is all lovely, but it is decorating that Bristol comes into its own. With many thousands of wall paper samples, God only knows how many swatches of other options, and helpful staff, this is a decorator or renovator's dream.
