Cleveland Aluminum & Exteriors

Cleveland Aluminum & Exteriors

We hired Cleveland Aluminum and Exteriors to install vinyl siding over our existing Masonite…read moresiding, which had varying degrees of rot, and to replace 40 windows. We have always handled home projects ourselves but we are older now so we decided to bring in professionals for this major job since we'd never tackled something like this before. We expected a well-planned approach with coordinated structural modifications to ensure a high-quality, professional result. The initial estimate promised completion in 6 weeks, but the project dragged on for 14 weeks, far exceeding expectations. One positive note: A single worker was assigned to handle all 40 windows and their wrapping, and he did a good job. However, numerous issues arose with the quality of work and adherence to best practices. The estimate included repairing all rot before applying the new sheathing, but it seems this only covered "big" areas. Smaller rotten spots, particularly around the windows where the J-channels were installed, were ignored. As a result, the new materials were nailed into soft, compromised masonite, which raises serious concerns about long-term durability as well as mold growth since the rot will continue. Additionally, despite manufacturer recommendations that fascia--especially on gable ends--should never be face-nailed, my contractor insisted that face nailing was standard practice. I have multiple gables on my house and you can already see the dimpling on the fascia. So disappointing because they could have looked so good. And also disappointing that we had chosen a company that clearly did not follow established standards. Worse than that. They didn't even know the standards and claimed that it was me that didn't know what I was talking about. After all, they had been doing it their way for 30 years! The handling of our two balconies was particularly poor. The work was done in a haphazard manner. The caps on the short walls that butted against the main walls should have been cut so that the siding could have been applied just like a new construction. To fix it would have required removing some of the siding they had installed and starting over on those areas but their "fix" involved swapping J-channels for corner pieces, slathering on caulk where the cuts were, and calling it done--without giving us a chance to inspect before leaving us with the final bill. It was almost as if they were saying "we'll show her" and deliberately making it look worse. Now, after paying them, we will have to fix it ourselves. So much for hiring a professional! Compounding these problems were inefficiencies in the workforce. Only two men were sent for the bulk of the job, and they worked just 4 hours a day. Had they put in normal full days, the project likely would have wrapped up within the estimated timeframe which was before Christmas 2025 but the onset of cold weather further delayed progress. They called it finished on February 19th 2026. When I (the wife) raised all these concerns directly with the contractor, he dismissed me in front of my husband by saying, "Go get in the house, I'm talking to him." This sexist and unprofessional attitude was the final straw. The problems should have been brought up sooner but when we had tried we had been told by the contractor to just let them do their job and we can change it later if needed. Overall, while one part of the job was handled well, the extended timeline, subpar workmanship, failure to follow manufacturer guidelines, and poor communication left us deeply dissatisfied. We cannot recommend Cleveland Aluminum and Exteriors and regret not handling more of the project ourselves.

Armor Xteriors - Chattanooga Trex Deck Installation

Armor Xteriors

We needed to replace the existing deck which wasn't anchored into the house…read more Our decision to use Armor Xteriors came down to detailed specifics of scope of work, pricing, available financing and scheduling. As the supply chain continues to waiver nationally, we had to wait a little extra for the product. Once all product was available the scheduling was a snap. Adam and Nate were exceptional in promptness and expertise. They educated as they built the deck and what to expect. Both would show up early to work and stayed into the evening. The two worked as a fluid team. Seeing how they worked and the finished product, seriously consider requesting Adam and Nate, even if it means a little sacrifice on your end for scheduling. Attached are some photos. It's not a huge project, but everything turned out great. We'll enjoy it for years to come.

They replaced a roof for us about 5 years ago. at the time of the estimate i also asked about a…read morewindow in our dinning room that has a seal leak and is foggy. the saleman said that if we let them do the roof, they would replace the defective window for free. we agreed to that. my mistake, is that it was not written in the contract for the roof. i thought they were honorable people and would stand behind what the salesman told us. YEAH RIGHT. the installers had an older flatbed truck with just a piece of warped wood for a tailgate and they dropped nails from the tear off all over our driveway (and i am certain all up the road as well where ever they went). I told them i was concerned about that as we have ouside dogs that if they get on in their paw, not to cheap of a ver bill. they picked up quite a few but we still found some for weeks after they left. we called them about roofing nails in our gutteres , on our deck, on the sidewalk and in the grass around our house. they came out 3 times and rolled the yard with a magnetic roller and assured us each time they had gotten them all. 5 year later we are still finding roofing nails in the yard and on our back deck. i will never use them again or reccomend them to anyone else.
