We decided to use Butters Homes Inc to buy our first home. We were approved for a loan and on…read more5/23/2026 we went to Butters Homes Inc and signed the purchase agreement. On 5/27/2026 we went back and signed the remaining paperwork and paid our $17,000 down-payment. To order the home we had to pay 10% which was a little over $13,000. So we paid more than the required amount to order. We were told the home would be delivered in August 2026. We worked all summer to get the land ready for the house to be delivered. Last communication we had with Butters Homes Inc was 6/11/2026. The woman at the company said she was all set to move forward with giving our Mortgage lender all the necessary paperwork. On 7/27/2026 I contacted the company to see what an estimated delivery date would be. The salesman was very short and said I needed to talk to the woman that deals with the mortgage lender. I asked if the home was ordered and he would not answer me. I emailed the woman and did not recieve a response. I called Butters Homes Inc and was then able to talk to the woman. She told me she had to talk to her boss about a paper pertaining to our water being spring fed. I asked why that wasn't completed over the past 2 months. She then said well I wasn't sure if you were wanting to move forward. We paid the down-payment to order, I signed the papers and was told the house was being ordered. They had cashed the check already. She never contacted me with any questions. So they cashed our check, never ordered the home and never contacted me with questions or to tell us to pick up the down-payment. At this point my loan approval had expired on 7/16/2026. So now they have our money, we have no home to move into and no real explanation as to why. Come to find out she had never even sent paperwork to the mortgage lender, contrary to what she said. My family is devastated at this point. This company is negligent, incompetent and dishonest. They ruined our dream and now we must start all over.

Considering they added extra charges that was NOT disclosed at initial phone call when the scheduled appointment was made. Had to be referred to a secondary contractor they apparently work with often that also had nothing nice to say about them. On top of that fighting to get money back because of the dissatisfaction of the quality and not being able to have decent customer service now the company calling and leaving voicemails and harassing people by coming to their homes when they have no business being there considering their job is "done" to try and intimidate people. I hope this saves someone the agony of dealing with this crap.
