In June 2025, as a 65 year old man I could barely stand for more than a few minutes due to pain. Even worse, there was no relief in sitting or lying down. Every day, a little worse. Dr mikhail fixed me. I can't believe that after 25 years of pain, I can actually type these words. I've gone from walking 250 steps a day to 5000 and a little more every day. He accurately predicted the different phases and pain levels during my recovery and because of that I had trust that it was all going as planned. He explained every risk going in, and where we might experience set backs. I felt well informed. I trusted him and his team and we did the surgery. It's been exactly one year and I'm a new (old) man. I could not be more grateful to this skilled, thoughtful and surprisingly humble gentleman and his wonderful team. I am 90 years old, and I saw Dr. Glen Pfeffer approximately one year ago. Unfortunately, the issues…read morethat began after my appointment continue to affect me to this day. I scheduled my visit for one simple reason: to obtain an ankle brace that would help me maintain my mobility and independence. I have a history of prior ankle surgery and significant scar tissue, so I expected my ankle would be handled with particular care. I was not seeking surgery or aggressive treatment. At the end of the appointment, Dr. Pfeffer manually manipulated my ankle. During the maneuver, I experienced immediate, severe pain and told him, "Easy, Doctor." He stopped, returned my foot to a neutral position, and left the room without explaining what had happened or why I had such a painful reaction. From that day forward, my ankle has never been the same. I developed increased pain, loss of lateral movement, and pain that now radiates through my Achilles tendon, up the back of my leg, and into my knee. I also experience nightly twitching and spasms that interfere with my sleep. Most devastating has been the loss of mobility and independence. Activities I was able to do before, including shopping, driving, cooking, household chores, and even walking comfortably around my home, have become significantly more difficult. I returned for a follow-up to discuss my concerns but initially felt my experience was dismissed. Although Dr. Pfeffer later apologized if anything he had done contributed to my condition, I left without meaningful answers. To make matters worse, the brace I originally came in to obtain was ultimately too rigid, did not fit properly, and provided no relief. I understand that medicine is not an exact science and that I have a complicated ankle history. However, the timing of my decline was immediate following the manipulation, and more than a year later I continue to live with the consequences. My hope in sharing this experience is simply that elderly patients, especially those with prior ankle surgery or scar tissue, ask questions, understand what is being done during an examination, and ensure extra care is taken with vulnerable joints. At 90 years old, mobility is independence, and unfortunately, that independence has been significantly diminished since this appointment.

He did this without asking a single question about her current pain level, mobility, or how she had been progressing at home. His approach felt forceful and absolutely disgusting, showing no awareness of how his tone and demands could affect a patient with trauma and anxiety. His behavior showed a striking lack of bedside manner. There was no gentle introduction, no reassurance, no attempt to understand her condition before giving commands. For a patient who is already anxious, this kind of interaction can be emotionally destabilizing -- and it was. This wasn't an isolated incident. In the weeks following her surgery, he seemed irritated when she called regarding her prescription and never took a moment to ask her how she was even healing. This ongoing lack of communication and empathy makes it clear that trauma-informed care is not being practiced here. He barely spoke to her before the surgery itself, he gave her a thumbs up and said, "we'll get you fixed" and walked away. My mom left the appointment shaking and distressed, feeling unheard and disrespected. No patient -- especially one dealing with injury, PTSD, or anxiety -- should ever be spoken to or treated in this way. First impressions from our visit is that I like him and what he has to say about my mom's knee & hip. I love the fact that he took x-rays first thing when we arrived and that we were able to do them there and not go to another facility. He read the results immediately and went over the findings. For now, he gave her an injection in her hip to see if that alleviate any of her pain. We go back in six weeks for a follow up. I am very happy that I found Dr. Rajaee.
