it's rare that you walk out of a hospital (OLOL) after a procedure and high five your partner,…read more but that's what happened. We feel very blessed to have had such exceptional service with Dr Balart and the team at OLOL, I knew going to a community based facility (BR Clinic) was the best decision we could've made, you're a person and not a number.

So this is all over the place BUT ... my old GE retired and I had to find a new one. I checked on…read moreseveral that I knew of and they weren't taking new patients until 2020 -also I looked around for reviews for someone substantially younger than me but in practice more than 2 years. It took almost 5 months to get in. Dr. McDreamy is very personable, has a great sense of humor and his office was running on time. We scheduled my procedures at the "ButtPalace" on Jefferson and I will update after. It sounds like I'm being ageist but when you are in your 20s or 30s, all your doctors are older than you- and if you have a good rapport with them you stay with them until they die or retire. If that happens in your 40s or 50s it's not a big deal. If it happens in your 60s, it's a whole different ball game. I have, at 66 outlived and/or retired 2 dentists, a gyn, 2 gps, an optometrist, an ophthalmologist and a gastro. Baton Rouge Clinic published a 2 page spread with all their doctors. Yesterday I went through the list and crossed out everyone I knew I wouldn't need- pediatrists, hospital medicine, psychiatrists, etc. If you are looking for a doctor who will outlive you- it was a great resource. I used this to also find a new GP and dermatologist. Dr. Balart has great references, though hopefully, I won't have to see him again after this. I don't think my rectum will appreciate his incredibly good looks. Update: my procedures went well. Even though I arrived 15 minutes early, like they ask, It was an additional 45 minutes before they took me in. I was actually heavily sedated and had a local, because I'm hard to wake up from the "good" short time drugs like Verset & the Michael Jackson drug. I got to watch the whole thing with a tube in my throat to my esophagus. It was a 45 minute procedure like the doctor estimated. Yes, I felt (severe discomfort as polyps were .... I don't know because I felt the pull and closed my eyes,) some of it, but when It didn't hurt it was so cool because he explained everything he was doing as I watched. Thankfully, all my results came back negative, this time. I would definitely recommend Dr. Balart & Baron Rouge clinic as a whole, although I can't say what it's like in the age of corona. I have an appointment again in 2 weeks. If they make me wait in my car Im bailing until the world comes to its senses.

I tried to get relief from this place for 2 years. I'm still having the same issues. We identified…read morea partial underlying cause, solved it with antibiotics, then it came back. I didn't get any advice on how to prevent it from recurring and Dr. Barker didn't seem interested in retesting for the condition. He told me it was a good idea to take Miralax for the rest of my life because it was providing me relief from one of my symptoms. I told him I had looked up what the possible long term negative effects are of miralax and he said that that science wasn't really that certain so I shouldn't worry about it. Only a year after I stopped going to appointments with him and was reviewing my online paperwork did I realize that my bloodwork had thrown a flag for high glucose for the first time in my life and nobody told me. Negligence. This was my second soul crushing try at getting help from this office. In 2021 I saw Wardlaw and it was one of the most disappointing healthcare experiences I've had. it is not ok to have Dr. Wardlaw call me for less than 5 minutes and then bill me for an entire appointment without my consent. Not only did Dr. Wardlaw only speak with me in a brief and unhelpful manner after my colonoscopy and endoscopy, he told me that he didn't even want me to come into his office for a visit again because I didn't need it. To this day I am suffering the same bowel issues I was then. After the colonoscopy showed inflammation, Dr. Wardlaw didn't think it necessary to give me a diagnosis or a follow up. Over the phone he told me that my results came back beautiful and I didn't have any noticeable problems. This is inconsistent with the actual results that were uploaded to my file. When I expressed disappointment that the colonoscopy didn't find something diagnosable, he told me I should be happy instead. he told me that I should follow all elimination diets because it might be a food sensitivity. I asked him to elaborate and he rattled a few off and told me to google them. I asked if I should follow them all at the same time and when I should stop and he said he didn't have time to answer all my questions. I asked if he would be guiding me through this process and he said I should do it on my own and then hung up before I was finished talking to him, which was all of about 5 minutes. Nobody ever contacted me again except with an exorbitant bill. I submitted a complaint about this to this office, where i was seen, and never heard back from administration about it. These experiences were so upsetting to me that I haven't been to a doctor about my issues since then. It's just cost me a lot of money and I'm right where I started.
