Like another post I've spent thousands of dollars in that store. I attempted to return a pvc primer because I could not open it. The staff took the can from me with one person leaning their entire weight on the lid while another used a pipe wrench in one hand and the other to hold the container. I asked if it was practical for me to purchase a pipe wrench for the sole purpose of opening the can and asking another person to come into my yard each time I needed it opened. The plumbing associate then flat out said we are not returning your money. I will not be going back to this store. read more

Rona, especially this location, continues to be awful. Everything seems to be 5 to 10% more expensive than other hardware stores, at the very least. Plus the brands they carry are mediocre compared to elsewhere. Tools and building supplies are often cheap consumer grade that are bulky, made of poor quality materials, have bad tolerances etc. Selection of building products isn't great either. The staff at this location are not very well trained, and staff and management don't seem to care about customers. During COVID they were the first store of any kind I knew to lift mask restrictions, and on day one virtually all staff were mask free. Today a staff member proved they clearly didn't know what either a level or square were! I don't even bother asking for help in a plumbing or electrical aisle because I've gotten very bad advice there. If there was another decent hardware store in this area of town I'm confident this place would go out of business. I often find myself leaving this store frustrated and heading 10 or 15 minutes away to one of those places anyways. read more

I have had an extremely horrible experience at this Rona store. Six years ago, we purchased and had installed a home furnace and air conditioner unit from Rona on Barnet Highway in Coquitlam. Rona had that told me that they would complete a manufacturers warranty form to extend warranty from 5 years to 10 years which they neglected to do. Everything worked fine for six years as it should. In the 6th year, the blower stopped working. I called Rona to get me someone to replace the blower. That's when I realized that Rona was the wrong supplier choice. They had no record of my purchase. I had purchase records and went to the store to talk to someone in the appliance department. They had a sales assistant looking after paint, small appliances, and other appliances related matters. When I met this individual at the store, he was very defiant. Instead of trying to assist me and help me solve the problem he insulted me out of the store. I ended up calling a plumbing company to help replace the blower. Don't buy any appliances from RONA. They have no idea how to treat and help customers. Buy instead from Home Depot. They back their products better than Rona. Rona is now part of Lowes (An American company). read more

I purchased a couple of AC duplex receptacles, hadn't heard about the Tamper Resistant "improvements". Long story short: the TR receptacles were garbage, IMPOSSIBLE to plug in several of our appliances. About $35 later, I've swapped them for non-TR I managed to find. Virtually everything at Rona now is the TR versions, only a few higher priced receptacles are still non-TR. Had recycled the TR receptacle boxes. Have the receipt, and clearly the TR's were NOT a satisfactory product. Reached out to Rona via email, after first trying the return desk, but SOL on both fronts... read more

Fuck you Rona! Bought $600 worth of ceiling fans and the most expensive one crapped out in less than a month. All I wanted was a simple exchange for a product that is exclusive to them. Apparently knowing the day it was purchased, contacting the manufacturer who gave me a reference number to exchange (confirming it was under warranty) wasn't enough. This home improvement store is closest to my home so I go here first when I need something. It's a decent size and it's usually easier to find a staff member who can help than at the larger chain down the highway. They don't have the selection of the larger chain but their prices are usually better and you can always order things from their website if you need more options. Website purchases can be sent to the store for pick-up, which saves shipping charges. I've done several medium-sized home renos using Rona and had zero issues with any of them. Their staff is well-trained and friendly, although their cashiers tend to be young so a little wanting in customer service skills. I had one girl looking at her cell phone while I was swiping my credit card and punching in my PIN. Not cool but that's phone-addicted millennials for you. read more

Dropped by Rona in the morning today as I thought they take some recycling items, plus gave me the chance to do some shopping as I don't normally go to hardware stores. There was a very rude cashier in front that told me to bring my boxes of light bulbs elsewhere next time. Also felt like she was doing me a favor by taking in my recyclables WTF! Well, I wouldn't have gone to Rona in the first place if I don't have any other errands to run so I'm not sure why they would want to chase potential customer out. I ended up purchasing something that I would have normally gone to their competitors for. The front cashiers need more customer service training rather than being rude. read more

I bought a stove and dishwasher from them about a year ago, and they knew it was for a kitchen renovation that was happening in November of last year. When it came to installing the dishwasher, I found it was severely damaged, it had been dropped in transit and the frame was bent and some of the shelves would not work properly. I was away at Christmas and contacted Rona when I returned, I sent a letter along with the pertinent information, and a letter from the plumber and contractor and hand delivered it to them. There was no response from the Manager at all. The salesman, who is the only person there that was trying to assist me, advised that any damage should have been reported within 2 days. Really, if that was the case it should have been explained at the beginning as I would not have bought until I was ready to instal. The delivery remained in the box until it was to be installed and that is when the damage was visible. The salesman tried to help us but his hands were tied. They then got a new manager and I delivered another hand written not to her. Again no response at all. For over 8 months they have refused to deal with the issue and will not even acknowledge that there is a problem. My only option was to pay for a very expensive repair on a new product or buy a new product. This is disgraceful and not acceptable. To not even acknowledge receipt of the complaint let alone deal with it is suspect. I would not recommend to anyone wanting to buy appliances to go to this store or any Rona store. I went to Rona for a lock set and some plumbing stuff because it was closer to me than the Home Depot. It was actually pleasantly surprising, which isn't terminology I would expect to use for a hardware store. I mean... it's a hardware store. The first thing I noticed right away was that the store was a good size. Not overwhelmingly huge like the Home Depot. Rona has a massive flooring section in the back, but if you are just looking for houseold-y type stuff, it's way easier to navigate around and find things. The second thing that became very apparent is that the store actually has STAFF. Like, AROUND YOU, in the store, who can actually help you. Seems like a crazy concept, after my search and find missions to get some help (I'm looking at you Canadian Tire and Home Depot!). We actually had multiple staff people ask us if we needed help with things. I can't even tell you the last time that's happened in a non-commission non-clothing store. (Maybe I just don't get out much? Yeah, it could be that, too). They helped to re-key a deadbolt lock to the new Weiser set I was buying. They had quite a decent selection, which again surprised me, and I was able to find everything I came for. I expected the prices to be way higher than H.D., but they really weren't that bad. Some prices were lower, many were right in line, a few things were more, but again, not by much. Saving the drive over to United Blvd, makes it worth it to me, either way. We went back for help and to get pieces to redo our master closet. The guy in that department spent about 45 minutes with us. Almost too much help, but I'd take that any day over doing laps in a bigger-box store and waiting in a queue for help from staff. Anyway, really good store, not overwhelming, clean, bright, helpful, good selection, friendly, and convenient location. You can also collect Air Miles there, too. Just know you can't access the parking lot if you are northbound on Mariner, or westbound on Barnet. You can access the lot from a veer off lane on southbound Mariner, or on the right if you are eastbound on Barnet. read more

Just tried to do curbside at the Rona on Austin in Coquitlam. Curbside is not available at this store so they should not sell stuff saying it is. I pulled into curbside and phoned for 15 minutes. I finally went into the store and asked 3 people at the door for help and they all said I had to go to customer service although it was clear they were not doing anything else. I got to customer service and there are two completely unorganized people working there, ignoring the phone, running around and there was clearly no proper workflow in place. It was completely frustrating and embarrassing (for the store). I went to Canadian Tire yesterday and curbside worked like a dream. I guess you know where I am shopping in the future. For whatever reason, the customer service in the outside part of the store is non-existent. The staff see you wandering around but have never offer assistance. In fact... they look the other way. This has happened every time I've gone into the Coquitlam store. read more

Went to buy wood for a project so we went into the drive in lumber section. We encountered 4 staff during our visit and only 2 of the staff were nice and helpful. The two males in the lumber yard definitely fell short on the customer service. We asked one fellow to use a forklift to bring a stack of plywood to our trailer so we could load 16 sheets instead of carrying them all to the trailer ourselves. He wasn't happy to help AT all and asked why we didn't just hand haul them, really? We had ~$900 worth of lumber and 5 small items from inside the store when we drove up to the cashier in the lumber section and the fellow at the check out in the lumber yard would NOT scan the 5 items. He made us take them inside to pay which was absolutely ridiculous. We had been at the yard the week previously and a different staff member had NO problem scanning a couple items from inside the store so the fellow today was just being a jerk. He explained that scanning items from inside the store held up the check out line but seeing as we were the only vehicle in the line up you would think common sense would kick in and he would take the 10 seconds to scan the items. The 2 female employees who we dealt with were great. They were friendly and helpful which is why I gave the store one star. We were at the store just before noon on Monday, May 18th so whoever manages the store should really have a chat with the males workers who were in the lumber yard section because their crappy attitudes and poor customer service just cost this store any further business from us. We have a ton of material left to buy for a few more projects but we'll go to Windsor or Home Depot from now on. read more

I live half way between the Rona on Barnet and the one on LeBleu (on Austin). Both have plenty of staff eager and able to help. Most of the staff are middle aged with DYI experience and are eager to share their knowledge. I talked with the guy in plumbing and got the answers I needed then when I asked a paint question he took me over to the paint area and found the paint guy and they both helped me with that question. I've also gotten great, knowledgeable service for almost all of the staff, male and female. Don't make the mistake of thinking that the guys will know more than the women. The staff seem seriously experienced with hardware related issues. Returns: I've returned everything from $200 pieces of hardware to a handful of screws. They cheerfully process the returns quickly and even accept things they know are theirs even if you have lost your receipt. The Barnet store, at least, now carries stoves and washering machines. They've picked up some of the really knowledgeable staff from Sears. Price: The big box stores aren't any cheaper and it can take a long time to track things down. I save the big box stores for the occasional thing when I've got lots of time and don't need any help. Phone: Most of the times I've called I've gotten through quickly and they've found the person or the thing I needed. Expect to wait though if you call on a busy Saturday afternoon. read more

Good location from me, just drive down the hill and i'm there. I like to support this place because it feels more local and Canadian then home depot. Decent selection, go here for all my basic home improvement needs. Not a huge fan of the tools selection, for that I will go to either KMS, Summit or Home Depot. Besides tools though this place has most everything for your renovation needs. read more

I was at the Coquitlam store on September 7, 2014 looking for two pieces of floor molding. They had nothing except in bulk pack of ten pieces. However the older gentleman by the name Rick and the store manager Michael was wonderful and was able to sell me two pieces from the bulk pack - save me a trip to the bigger store.
