We discovered Desoto theater about ten years ago, and ever since we have been meeting there to watch a show. One of the most memorable ones was "The Cats". We sat on the front row and watched very talented amateurs act and sing. We even saw the facial expressions of the actors. It was awesome! Six months earlier I had seen the same broad way show at The Fox Theater. Then, I paid a lot of money for the tickets. We loved the show, but did not see nearly as much of the details of the performance, as we did at the Desoto Theater. Also in Rome, GA, parking close to the theater was not a hassle! All the performances that we have seen at this theater, have been worth driving from Acworth, Georgia and Gadsden, Alabama. We are looking forward to seeing the next play soon.

Unbelieveable! Although this is not the first production of this company, it is the first major…read moremusical they have produced, and it performed at two venues, the Cedartown Civic Auditorium and in Rome at the DeSoto Theatre. The cast was mostly very young, but the hard work was so evident from the production I saw in Cedartown, which was actually the final dress rehearsal that I had been invited to see since I would be out of town for the actual performances. My wife and I enjoyed seeing the show again so much, which we have seen many times professionally and in fact I even played Old Deuteronomy ten years ago! But these kids sang and danced their hearts out, and the set was very simple and yet effective, and the costumes and props were magnificent. I knew many of the performers but did not even recognize many of them until well into the show because of the excellent make-up. This production was surely just as good as many of the others I have seen. Director Don Rusaw once again outdid himself on this third reincarnation of his "Cats"-life ;-) and musical director Donna Hester excelled with the beautiful singing she coaxed forth from these kittens. Zach did a great job helping me get setup with a bass guitar and amp. The store is clean and laid out well and it's a much better vibe than a Guitar Center. Shop local and support these guys--prices and service are excellent. However, give the guitar lessons a pass. Lessons are in a messy store room in the back with distractions galore. We ordered 2 appetizers and a grain bowl to split. Appetizers are out quickly and were good. Our grain bowl never showed up. We finally asked the bartender if we could have it to go and she explained that it was on the ticket but never made. She went back to make it herself and brought it in a to go container. When we got home it was essentially a side salad missing the fundamental ingredient...grain. It was also missing several other ingredients. It blows my mind that we ordered 5 things, 2 were messed up, and we were charged for all of it. We got a half apology and a full priced bill.
