For 1700 years old or so, these remaining bastions of the roman walls still exist. You can tell that throughout the centuries, that different generations of Catalonians have repaired the walls with different styles of construction and stones. But it still looks great after all these centuries.
These towers used to be part of the walls, which were super thick and tried to keep out invaders, with varying degrees of limited success. But now they're in the Gothic Quarter and you can easily dodge them. Someone has come along and has modernized parts of the tower with electricity and are using it for some more modern uses than keeping out Moors and local tribes. read more
