It has since spread to most of the major universities across the United States. An Old English Tudor fraternity house has sat proudly on the corner of 9th and Bishop streets since 1930. This is the home of Pi Kappa Alpha in Rolla Missouri. Many generations of engineers from the Missouri School of Mines, the University of Missouri at Rolla, and now the Missouri University of Science and Technology have walkthrough the gracious front doors of this fraternity. The student body in this rural setting and rigorous science curriculum has always been unique. Since it is a smaller University, there seems to be a closer bond between those attending than at the larger flagship universities. Too bad Harvard, Yale, Princeton....the world does not monitarily value arts degrees in history, anthropology, and poly science with equivalent salaries to the tuition charged and self proclaimed esteem claimed. Engineering universities produce employees who can fix things, solve problems, innovating the future to help make the world a better place. Yes, we need all ways of thinking and the arts adds to life's enjoyment, but science keeps you warm in the winter, cool in the summer, puts the latest cell home in your pocket and makes the self driving vehicles of tomorrow.
