Right at the start he was unhappy that we asked to be seated outside where plenty of tables were available. I asked for his opinion on what red wine to choose with the food I was planning to order when he showed up 25 minutes later. He said that all the local wines are the best in the world and walked away with a smirk on his face. There was no mention in the menu which is red or white so I decided not to choose a local wine but the one from Bordeaux, since Bordeaux mostly known for their red wines and I assumed that it will be red. He brought a bottle of white wine and rolled his eyes when I said that I wanted a red wine and just took off. My favorite wines are the Cabs from Napa Valley and I have an extensive knowledge about them unlike the French ones because I am not a big fan. I refuse to be treated by a server who thinks that he's superior to me because he knows more about "local products " . Too bad, we just walked away and ended up at the Gabriel restaurant just a few feet away where we had a great service, great food and great red wine. Well, it's their loss, they could've made 420 euros that I spent at the Gabriel's. Long story short, don't go there because they're very rude and unprofessional.

My lobster in the Salade Rebelais was really tough to cut (had a rubbery texture, yuck) and the meal was really salty. The waiter wasn't very attentive to the clear disappointment of his costumers, he was only interested in our money (we got the vibe this was a regular occurrence). We overpaid for a highly disappointing meal.

I was really looking forward to a spectacular meal at a two star restaurant. As in the other…read morereviews, it starts off well - the setting is ideal and the champagne was perfect. Unfortunately the food, for a two star Michelin, was not up to snuff. we ordered the surprise menu with wine paring. We also got the white truffle upgrade. Anyway, we received two pasta cources in a row (maybe not a big deal at Olive Garden but not in a two star...) - one a sort of lobster mac and cheese and the other was our truffle dish. The truffles were smothered in cream and cheese and you lost their taste. After the truffles they brought out a casserole to show us the 24 hour pork roast which was done on a very low heat with some hay. They took that away, and then served us the pork, which when plated consisted of two fatty slices of pork smothered in a honey sauce. Honestly - it was very close to southern BBQ. They must have run out of the actual pork that cooked for 24 hours, because if that meat had been cooked that long there would be no fat left on it. We often cook 7 hour lamb and the fat just melts away. The sauce was so sweet that any subtlety of the cooking process (they put hay in the pot to cook it) was lost. They then served us the cappuccino of porcinis with foie gras soup, the signature dish which is as tired as the chef it seems to me. That turned out to be the end of the meal as we were then asked if we wanted cheese or dessert - very strange way to end the main meal. They only served us white wine which also seems strange for a dinner of that magnitude. When we asked/commented on the meal, the younger waiter mentioned to my friend (who is from Lyon and knows food) that he must not be used to "une grande table". And therein lies the problem - my party is used to "une grande table" and this was not one. I think they are catering to tourists - warning bells should have gone off when we easily got a reservation and then added two people to our party. I do not think French people eat there much, it seems it is more for tourists who are dazzled by the setting and the champagne.

Being from Seattle I've learned that Starbucks coffee is consistently good and of course has free Wi-Fi. It was 5:30 pm on a Monday, so I ordered a tall Americano. It was the WORST coffee I've ever had at a Starbucks. It was closer to the quality of a McDonnell's McCafe, basically colored water. BAD BAD BAD. I did complain to the barista and they added another shot of coffee which made it taste better/reasonable. It pays to complain at Starbucks even in Europe. One bad experience can't take down a global icon.
