I found Kelly on Yelp, and found she specializes in flowers. I contacted Kelly and she was extremely prompt at responding, and professional. Upon entering the shop, Kelly (the owner of Rogue) was kind and professional. She kindly asked for everyone to wear masks, as it's for everyone's safety, which i could not agree more with. Kelly's shop is full of creative art, plants and portraits which clearly show how creative she is. She was incredibly kind, professional, and knew exactly what she was doing. Being this was mom and i's first tattoo, we had a lot of questions. Kelly was never annoyed, or short with any of her answers. She could not have been more open and caring. I would recommend Kelly to everyone. She was always cautious about what we wanted, and keeping us updated throughout the process. She told us multiple times to call her email her with any questions. Overall, i found the experience very warm, clean, and comfortable. This is exactly what i wanted in my tattoo experience. I first stopped into Rogue as a walk-in on the first day that I moved to Lawrenceville. I was quickly and politely greeted by Kelly and Travis, and they were able to accommodate me in about an hour. I brought in my own design, which was a simple one-color word that ended being about 1.5" x 5" on my back. Travis charged me a fair $50 (+tip), finished in about 30 minutes, and told me to come back any time if I thought it needed any touch-ups after healing (I didn't). Since I have a couple of other tattoos already, I could tell that Travis has a gentle hand and I would definitely recommend him to any first-timer who may be worried about pain! About six months later, I let Travis design my next piece. He has a real knack for color, shading, and linework, and I couldn't be happier with the beautiful, original tattoo I'm flaunting now! (see photo of shoulder tattoo above) For a substantial design like this, with tons of color, shading, and tiny details, I was pleasantly surprised that it took just under 3 hours (including breaks) and it honestly didn't give me any serious discomfort until about 2.5 hours in, when he started going back over earlier-colored areas. I'm super pleased with everything at Rogue and can't wait to go back for more! They also have a small art gallery, and there's a body piercer on staff, too. read more

So a few weeks back some friends and I grabbed a drink at New Amsterdam, right next door to Rogue Tattoos. On our way out, we stopped to admire some of their signage and ran into Travis, one of the artists. We complimented him on his shop, chatted a bit, and went on our way. I'd been planning a tattoo for a long while and this weekend found myself with the time and money. I figured Travis was a nice enough guy, the shop seemed clean, and the work posted on their website looked good. Now these were my first tattoos, so I don't have a lot of basis of comparison, but I'm extremely happy with my tattoos and the whole experience. The only complaint that I have is that they were running behind schedule and I ended up waiting over an hour past my appointment to get started. But once I was in the chair, I was done in less than half an hour. Besides, their waiting area is comfortable with original art on the walls, a couch, tv, and fairly large DVD collection. For two small-ish tattoos in solid black I paid $50. Again I'm no expert, but from what I understand that's a pretty good deal. Seems to me that first-rate work at a good price, in a nice shop (lots of Romero memorabilia), done by friendly dudes is worth the extra hour wait and then some. My wife and I have already starting talking about getting some more work done and if we do, we'll definitely be back. read more

Not the place to go. The guy who runs this place doesn't return phone calls or keep promises to follow up with tattoo designs. Referred a husband and wife friend of mine to him for what would have been $400+ worth of work. He wasted an hour of their time, promised to get back to them in a week with designs and then never called or returned multiple emails/texts/phone calls. Really untrustworthy and not someone to do business with. You should stay away and find someone more professional. read more

Stopped by at 5 on a Saturday and discussed some ideas with Kelly. The shop was VERY clean, no one gave off a "too cool for you" vibe, and the rest of the team was friendly. She had me all set up for a small black wrist tattoo quickly and was friendly, professional and willing to adjust size and placement to make sure I had exactly the tattoo that I wanted. This was my seventh tattoo and compared to some artists she had a nice, gentle hand- not too heavy. The tattoo looks great, the price was reasonable, and I'll be back for more. Go here for small tattoos. The house minimum is 60 which is cheaper than other places. The artists are talented. Cool atmosphere. Clean. If you're a raging feminist you'll love the female artists. I was very uncomfortable there. I asked for a quote on my idea and it wasn't ever updated throughout the consultation or when my art was done. I wouldn't have gotten my tattoo if I knew I would be dishing out 4x what I expected. I could go on but I'll spare them. read more

I scheduled an appointment with Travis, who was super patient about walking me through the process and calming my nerves a bit. He was soft spoken and affable and made me feel really comfortable the entire time. I got a fairly large geometric line work piece down my back and Travis's work was fast and precise. I had wanted a tattoo with Kelly, but she ended up double-booking me and switched me to Travis. The first session of my piece was four hours. It healed quickly surely due to Travis's light hand and great work. I was very excited to sit for a second session but never got the chance. I arrived for my appointment at 1:20 and was greeted with, "Are you Travis's 1:30, I will text him." At 1:50, 20 minutes late, he texts back that he slept in and was getting into the shower. Katie said it should be about 10 minutes. 25 minutes later, about an hour late from the original appointment time, he still did not show. There was no communication such as let's reschedule or anything. The lack of professionalism in something as personal as getting inked for continuing sessions was very discouraging. I get the impression two of the artists don't care much about their clients. During my first session one artist, Kelly, was working on someone and as soon as the client was done and walked out of the door, she said "I hate doing wristbands". This seemed pretty distasteful as soon as the girl ledt the chair and to say in front of two other people being worked on. Who wants to be tattooed by someone who hates doing your tattoo and if so, be professional anyways. I can't say that my tattoo was bad, it wasnt, I love it. It seems more like it's run by kids with big personalities and not really like a business who cares about its customers. read more

I went in around Christmas to get a tattoo drawn up. I spoke with Travis, and he told me to come back in a week to see what he drew. I came back, and he told me he hadn't started it yet. I spoke with a girl and she drew something up that night for me. It needed some alterations, so I promptly emailed her back. I never heard anything from them again. I emailed and called a couple times, but never heard anything. I felt that this was very unprofessional. The only reason it gets two stars instead of one is because the girl who helped me got back to me very quickly. I ended up going elsewhere for the tattoo. I have never had a tattoo done here. I'm reviewing only the piercer. I went in wanting to stretch my ears up a few sizes, which I realize now isn't a great idea. Regardless, I wish the piercer there would have told me that. Instead I ended up in his chair while he tried to shove a pair of plugs through a taper into my lobe that, mind you, were not the ones I brought in, they were ones he chose for me because he was so hell bent on trying to make my loves stretch he thought they'd work better. The plugs I brought in were some stone guys I ordered from etsy and boy were they rough so I can't blame him for trying to fit in a more uniform pair. What I can blame him for was his advice to lube up my ear he failed to stretch with dish soap in the shower and try and shove it in myself. Also, he came off as more than professionally friendly when he gave me his personal phone number as I layer prostrate in his incompetent arms. I walked out with one plug stretched larger (with jewelry I didn't ask for or get to pick) and one ear super pissed but the same size. He did throw in a free taper for me to shove my plug through at home with which I regrettably did end up doing. In the end I felt creeped out, in pain and disappointed. Also my lobes got infected after that from all the trauma. He was nice and he was trying but I felt like he didn't know what he was doing and it ended up hurting me. He shouldn't have even tried to stretch me up- from a 4 to a 0 btw. Although maybe he wasn't thinking properly because he was buzzed. It was late and he was drinking beer when I arrived. Why the hell was he drinking beer at work? Idk maybe I'm a prude. I just wouldn't recommend him to anyone. Imagine what he could do with a needle. Yeesh. read more

I highly recommend this place for anyone considering getting a tattoo. as soon as I went in I felt very at ease. the environment is very chill and welcoming. when I gave my picture to Kelly she did it exactly how I wanted it and while she was tattooing my run she kept making sure I was comfortable and doing okay. very good conversation while she was working on me as well! once I was finished she made sure to give me the information I needed to take care and recommended her favorite products to use on tattoos while it was healing. she also charged me a very very fair price. when I was leaving everyone gave me warm goodbyes. definitely will go back there for my next tattoo. read more

I went here this past November for my first (and only) tattoo: a small arrow with words on my arm. Travis did the tattooing, and while he was very nice about everything, the end result is not perfect. Nothing huge, but certainly noticeable to me. I feel like Travis may have been trying to rush through the process for my comfort (I was in the chair for less than 15 minutes), but now I look at my tattoo and feel angry he couldn't have taken the time to make sure this permanent feature was exactly the way I wanted it. It looked right in the drawings and the stencil, but unfortunately that didn't translate to my skin. Maybe I was expecting too much. read more

My experience started with a laid back artist that quickly turned anxious when asked to redraw a script and ended with said artist being very heavy-handed and my tattoo being blown out in multiple spots. Ultimately, a first tattoo that I was excited about has now turned into a second tattoo cover up. The shop just seems to lack experience. read more
