As one who hates any resemblance of working out, the first time I took a power sculpt class (a fusion of yoga, weights and cardio) at Rogue Awakening, I swore I would never return. Loved the heat, the music, and the yoga--hated those weights and the other exercisey stuff! My body was like, "Girl, wha? No!" I SAID I'd just do the hot yoga classes or pick up aerial yoga to spice up my yoga life.
Fast forward to many months of cultivating a Covid-related muffin top ... SOMETHING.MUST.BE.DONE. Grumbling, I found myself back in a power sculpt class. Upon recommendation, I thought I'd check out Karina's class. "Her classes are a lot of fun," they said. This yogi fitness warrior motivates you to your mat with all the chuckles like, "Hey friends! Let's get a 'lil spicy!" then commences with a workout that makes you howl. Somehow, she has made me a believer and I now pay my good money to get a physical smackdown. In fact, I have exceeded my original package and do additional drop-ins. What the...?
BUT can I tell you how good I've been sleeping and how I'm starting to see body tweaks after only a month? Goodbye, chunk! I feel my body getting stronger, and I actually feel accomplished when I slap that essential oil-infused cold towel over my face in Shavasana (This should ALWAYS be a thing in a hot yoga class! It is THE best!).
I'm all about the vibe, and thankfully, Rogue Awakening is yoga and fitness WITHOUT the snoot. Since day one, I've only experienced friendly pleasantries and positivity from everyone I've encountered. The staff is very welcoming (they actually seem to enjoy greeting everyone and check-in on you after class); fellow students are friendly (no one is yoga ego trippin'); and all of the instructors I've taken so far have been super motivating/encouraging with challenging workouts (did I mention that they take the brain energy to learn your name?). No pretense. Lotsa smiles. Friendly people. That's how I like my yoga. Along with an extensive variety of classes, here's a few extra perks: frequent offsite yoga events, childcare if needed (huge plus for the mamas), yoga apparel/equipment and cold-press juices available for purchase. read more
