You can only get in here with a member - and most people are either married into or born into membership at Hurlingham because the wait is around 15 years - but luckily members can bring a bunch of people at a time. The grounds are gorgeous and with a perfect weather weekend you can spend hours wandering around and taking in the beautiful scenery. If you decide to opt for a membership, by the time your name is at the top of the list 15 or so years down the track, you may just be about nearing the right age to fit in with the clientele here. Yes, I'm talking OAPs. This club is a million miles away from the media crowd you find in most well known members club, this really is a place for the old-school English gentleman in his suit - which gives it a special vibe. Oh and don't forget your crisp whites on the tennis courts, no other gear allowed here!

You feel like you've stepped into some alternate universe where everyone is friendly and nice. There's a great playground for children, an outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi i think, tennis courts, croquet lawns etc. There are the usual rules regarding wearing only white. The restaurant is also quite yummy though I wouldn't say it's mind-blowing. The BBQ in the summer is delicious though! Obviously the down-sides are that it's ridiculously expensive to become a member and the waiting list is close to almost a century.

Members can - indeed are encouraged - to have exhibitions here. Lunch is either al fresco on the patio,or in the bar - cheap but very delicious - or fine dining in the very elegant dining rooms. All rooms lined with paintings by members past & present. There are regular events : the Artist's lunches : (3 courses with a lecture at £9) concerts, classical & jazz, theatrical performances,exhibitions,visits to studios etc etc. (look at the website for details) Metered Parking is possible outside. And even if it was recommended, I would not have been allowed into the place without the company of a member. Chelsea Art's Club is in the heart of Chelsea, established in 1891. The building is not a flashy one, except when there is an art exhibition on, the front of the building is in its artistic form; bright and colourful. When I was there, it was just a humble whitewashed establishment. I would have walked past it without knowing that it is actually a club. It has a plaque outside of the entrance door, again, nothing fancy, next to a small door which means someone taller might have to bow down to enter the place. Situated off the busy King's Road, I was truly surprised at the little bustling interior this place has to offer. Chelsea Art's Club is very popular as an arty hangout and membership is strictly only by nomination and invitation. The Chelsea Art's Club also offers accommodation for their members. The entrance looks a little poky, narrow and small but enter the dining area, here, it is spacious. The glassed ceiling and windows lightens the place and gives a sense of space. A large snooker table in the middle which also functions as a newspaper/magazine stand. The downside for me is that smoking is allowed in the interior of the place. The split level balcony makes more dining space. The place is furnished with reading sofas, coffee height tables and chairs, all the furniture is different in style. A little worn but in good taste. It is the main social room of the Chelsea Art's Club. Also situated on the ground floor is a smaller reading room and a separate more formal dining area. At Chelsea Art's Club, the bar menu is a very simple menu with choices similar to brunch and a light lunch, sandwiches, salads, pub style. Drinks prices were very reasonable starting from GBP 12.00 per bottle for their house wine. thai green chicken curry with rice GBP 8.50 boiled ham with dauphinoise potato GBP 8.50 - the ham, while plentiful, was nothing special, but the potatoes were rich and delicious, altogether a hearty dish. smoked salmon with scrambled eggs and toast GBP 8.50 - the scrambled eggs were done perfectly, lightly runny and really buttery! goat's cheese sandwich steamed treacle pudding GBP 4.50 - the pudding was moist and light with the treacle sauce which is adequately sweetened too my taste (ie. not sickly sweet). Very good. Generous portion too. apple and berry crumble GBP 4.50 - sweet and sour of the fruit but the crumble was not properly cooked. Self-service. If you are lucky to be one of the ones to have access to this place, please invite me again :). It is indeed a very comfortable, friendly and sociable place to be spend a cold rainy afternoon. Ok, food is not at its best but the place makes up hugely for it.

But if you think that The Rushmore Group which owns all these establishments had given up on exclusive drinking dens, you'd be wrong. Nestled under Tiny Robot is the Starland Social Club. As you might imagined, under a place called Tiny Robot, it's not big. A maximunm capacity of 50 covers I'd wager makes the place feel really special, not cramped. This lastest members only club is a fantastic haven from the pretentious (yes I know it's called Starland - but bare with me) wilds of Westbourne Grove. You won't find botoxed yummy mummies down here, nor will you find a hen party giggling in the corner. This is a place for relaxing, meeting friends and having some brilliant cocktails in very low (and therefore very flattering) light. Ah, but it's members only - however the last few times I have been this hasn't been adhered to particularly strictly (although on a Saturday night this might be the case due to space). It's essentially a fantastic little secret bolthole. So if you're in the area and fancy a Gimlet or a laugh with the super nice barstaff, or a giggle at the pictures of the founder members on the walls, pop into Starland, if there's space.

This little social club smack BANG in the middle of chart downs housing estate is a little…read moregem...not only is it a social club but you can prebook a wedding party..christening celebrations...funeral wakes...birthday parties...etc..etc..I've even known a couple of divorce parties held there..lol...(im not kidding)..from live music to bingo to quizzes there's always something going on..cheap drinks and a park 20 yards away so you can watch your little ones out the windows....great staff and committee...never any trouble, its great..oh and dont forget the chicken bingo on a Wednesday night....bet thats got you thinking...i didnt have any pics so i put a pic of my sunglasses up cos the future is bright

Recently found out about this new social group that has started in Winchester. They have loads of…read moreevents coming up on their calendar which look really fun and interesting; a bit of something for everybody! I went along to my first event today. I was nervous about going on my own but they made me very comfortable straight away, they are a very friendly and welcoming group. I'm going to book on to some more events with them now and I'm looking forward to them already! Definitely recommend this club.
