We have travelled far and wide in our quest and have found some nice places but nowhere to match the Bourne Hall class. Until now.... Gio Papas from Latin Salsa teaches salsa, bachata, rueda and kizomba at different venues throughout Surrey and also organises special parties and events. On Wednesdays, he and Renato teach 4 levels of salsa at the Friends Life social club in Dorking (next to Denbies roundabout). You don't have to be a member of Friends Life to come and dance. Hilary and I were immediately struck by how friendly Gio and Renato were in welcoming us and the other dancers are also a great bunch of people and we've already made good friends in the short time that we've been dancing here. The beginners and improvers are taught at 8-9 and the intermediate and advanced classes are from 9-10 with the freestyle club going on until 11pm to practise. The level of instruction is good and we're enjoying the teaching. It costs £8 for one class and £11 for 2, which is about average for salsa in the UK. The drinks at the bar are cheap I've also been to 2 of Gio's parties - a salsa party in Guildford and a bachata & rueda workshop with Malaysian meal. Both were great fun. Hilary and I are so happy to have found this class and it has really invigorated our love of dancing. 1 2 3 5 6 7 !

Recently found out about this new social group that has started in Winchester. They have loads of…read moreevents coming up on their calendar which look really fun and interesting; a bit of something for everybody! I went along to my first event today. I was nervous about going on my own but they made me very comfortable straight away, they are a very friendly and welcoming group. I'm going to book on to some more events with them now and I'm looking forward to them already! Definitely recommend this club.

This is a wonderfully old-school and sophisicated London members club - perfect for a game of lawn…read moretennis or just hanging out drinking tea and reading a book in one of the beautiful conservatories or on the terrace (I did the latter!) You can only get in here with a member - and most people are either married into or born into membership at Hurlingham because the wait is around 15 years - but luckily members can bring a bunch of people at a time. The grounds are gorgeous and with a perfect weather weekend you can spend hours wandering around and taking in the beautiful scenery. If you decide to opt for a membership, by the time your name is at the top of the list 15 or so years down the track, you may just be about nearing the right age to fit in with the clientele here. Yes, I'm talking OAPs. This club is a million miles away from the media crowd you find in most well known members club, this really is a place for the old-school English gentleman in his suit - which gives it a special vibe. Oh and don't forget your crisp whites on the tennis courts, no other gear allowed here!

You feel like you've stepped into some alternate universe where everyone is friendly and nice. There's a great playground for children, an outdoor swimming pool and jacuzzi i think, tennis courts, croquet lawns etc. There are the usual rules regarding wearing only white. The restaurant is also quite yummy though I wouldn't say it's mind-blowing. The BBQ in the summer is delicious though! Obviously the down-sides are that it's ridiculously expensive to become a member and the waiting list is close to almost a century.
