In May 2026, we contracted with Rodriquez Sod to lay new sod. Our existing lawn was severely impacted as a result of the winter freeze. Our lawn was not in good condition. We received quotes from 3 sod/irrigation companies and we selected Rodriquez Sod. Our introduction to Rodriguez Sod was our interactions with Gerald, the sales team member responsible for our account. Gerald provided exemplary customer service, developing a strong and trustful relationship. Gerald maintained communications throughout the project to ensure we were satisfied. Kudos to Gerald who advocated on our behalf as much possible. Gerald provided a level of confidence that contributed greatly in ensuring our experience with Rodriguez Sod was positive. We appreciated Gerald's insistence on the quality of sod that was provided for our job. Gerald delayed the installation by a few days to ensure a good quality of sod was installed. Gerald definitely delivered a level of service that exceeded our expectations and was greatly appreciated by us. Gerald moved to a different position and responsibility for our account was assumed by Jose. Jose brought a high level of experience and education regarding our sod project. We would be remiss in not noting how helpful Vanessa was and the assistance she provided in escalating resolution of replacement of plots of sod that were not greening. The sod installation to our entire yard, approximately 1600 square feet, also included upgrades to our irrigation system to improve the coverage, which was completed by a vendor recommended by Rodriguez Sod. Overall, we are highly pleased with the work completed by Rodriquez Sod. The company honored their guarantee beyond the guarantee period. They sent a team out to replace the failed sections. Our lawn went from a disaster to one of the best lawns in our neighborhood IMHO. We recommend Rodriquez Sod without hesitation and will work with them again in maintaining a lawn we are proud of. Taking down two oaks was a chore. Getting rid of all the roots was even worse. The front yard was a mess! WILL from Rodriguez Sod took control, walking the property, discussing all that had to be done to the front and to the side yard. Deyail work had to be done in the back too. Estimate was fare. Work was done when promised, and the lot, both front and back was spotless when they left. Will wrote out complete watering instructions, worked with his men to inspect the irrigation system, and made sure everything was perfect before they left. Absolutely terrible customer service. Re-sodded my front yard after killing old yard, removing dead sod, placing new top-soil, and new sod. From day one the sod looked like it was dying. I have a sprinkler system and watered several times a day. After a few weeks I called Manny Rodriguez and asked him to come and check it out. He failed to show up on 4 different occasions. He did claim in a text to not worry, it's guaranteed. I sent pictures. Still no response. Now he won't answer texts or calls. I guess it's on to small claims court. read more

It's been over a month and the grass they installed has a lot of dead spots. They said it was not under warranty because I did not water it properly. With the heavy rains and my large water bill, I think your sod installation is sub par. Watering is not the problem. What good is your warranty if you don't replace the dead sod? My front yard looks worse than before. So frustrating. read more

Manny and his team are as good as it gets! They have treated us like family from the very start. We had over 2,000 sq ft of Bermuda sod installed and it has been 2 months since install and it's done wonderfully. From the very beginning Manny and his staff were timely, efficient and upfront will all costs. The quality of product has been great and they have followed up multiple times within a 2 month period to check on how our sod is doing. Manny recommended to us someone who installed and laid beautiful pavers (which were hand chosen by us and Manny went out of his way to find where they could be purchased). Our entire driveway was redone and steps were added to open up our space. His prices are very fair for the quality of material and labor. Poor communication and doesn't stand by sprinkler installation or sod. Do not recommend.

From no curb appeal this morning to a full and over the top makeover. Manny Rodriguez came and did an assessment and listened to my ideas of a front yard garden yesterday afternoon. We talked about irrigation and different plants and colors. He took everything into consideration and designed a garden as though it was always there. By late afternoon, there was curb appeal to rival any other. I have been very pleased as we walked around to admire the finished look. From a blank slate this morning to a pleasing patina of colors and textures by evening. I am ecstatic. Thanks to Manny and his team. Awesome It's now been quite a while since my landscaping was done. Now, the Azaleas have withered and died, crotons were placed where the sun was not enough, and there is a copper plant which needs full sun but it was placed in a shaded area. All these plants are lost and I have been in contact with the office but Mr. Rodriguez never returns my call to get the plants replaced with more suitable foliage. First of all, the history of the land is important and he never asked. If a Maple tree was on site and it sucked out all the nutrients, then the Azaleas should have been protected. But once they finish the job and get paid, you never see the company again. They do not care. This is not customer service. Now, I will have to call another company to fix all the dead stumps and replace appropriate plants. You now have a one star. . Even that is too much. One star now. read more

It was time to redo my landscaping so I called Rodriguez. I was impressed by two other attractive installations they had done in my neighborhood. I was not disappointed. Willie responded right away and was available to come over for a look. He thoroughly assessed the project and gave me a very reasonable estimate. His crew laboriously removed the old, overgrown plantings and sod, leaving a clean palette for the plantings to come. He sprayed the cleared areas, ensuring any weeds would not return. On installation day, Manny and his well staffed, hard-working installation professionals arrived with a wide selection of beautiful, healthy plants for me to choose from. Manny was super agreeable and cooperative with my perfectionist plant choices, positionings and layouts. As soon as I finalized my idea for each bed, his crew planted things just the way I wanted. After the beds were finished, his crew installed freshly cut sod throughout the yard, artistically sculpted around each bed. Manny's coordination for the timely arrival of the materials and equipment for each phase was impressive. As the plant beds neared completion, I asked Manny when will the sod be installed. He said today. I looked around and here was a truck arriving with pallets of fresh sod. When the sod installation was finalizing, I asked when will the mulch be installed. Manny said today. I turned to see a truck arriving with fresh mulch. His crew was exceptionally professional and their teamwork was remarkable. They took great care to avoid hardscape damage and they cleaned up to perfection upon completion. My neighbors and everyone who passes by stops to complement and admire this new installation. I have to start off by saying that I am not the easiest person to please. I know what I like. I know what I need. I know what I expect. In the expect field, I expect to be treated like a valued customer and shown respect. I expect you to start off by showing me what I have asked to see, not divert me off to what you want to sell me. I expect you to show me what I have indicated I can afford, not tempt me with something out of my budget. I am on SS and therefore a very limited budget. My condo complex got tented for termites last month and I lost some plants due to the gas. A week or two later we were pressure washed and the plants were hit with pressure and bleach. I have trimmed, coffee-watered, and used fish emulsion....some plants came back. One I really liked didn't. My mission was to find the same type plant to replace the one I had, the center focus of my front window...accented with a wind kite spinner of a cardinal of the same colors. I have gone to nursery after nursery and, I know recovery from covid affects nurseries also, but I was seeing a broad range of quality and prices, including high prices for trash. Today I remembered a small nursery on North Dale Mabry before the Target store, right after a church. I drove up there and discovered Rodriguez Sod Ranch. I will warn you....it is VERY EASY TO MISS....so, after I did a u-turn and came back, it was the first thing I mentioned to the inviting smile of the young lady who greeted me. I feel bad that I didn't get her name nor the name of the gentleman she had come out to help me. I did not know the name of the plant I wanted, so I called it "the cab/merlot leafy plant." They both knew exactly what I was referring to and he took me straight to it. I explained why I was looking for the one thing, that I was limited in funds. Their plants were GORGEOUS, HEALTHY, WELL-KEPT (no rubbish in the container),and, now, get ready for this, VERY REASONABLY PRICED!! He had me point to the ones I was interested in seeing close-up and HE brought them closer. I found one that was absolutely perfect and asked the price....he confirmed $7. I compared it to the ones a bit larger, the $35 ones. He said that it would not take long to grow, commenting on our conversation on how I feed my "plant-babies," and it would definitely suit my needs. I could not wait to get home to plant it. I asked for cards to give to those I know who would appreciate knowing where to go to meet their landscaping needs. I may have recently had a hip replacement, but I got my new plant in the ground and watered it with coffee water. I am so proud of the way it looks in front of my front window!! Again, I am not the easiest person to please. I was beyond thrilled with the personable staff at Rodriguez Sod Ranching, beyond thrilled with their plant-babies (and they have some BIG BABIES), beyond thrilled with the way they make plant-baby shopping an enjoyable experience. This company will not do what they promise to do.. everything from when they are going to give you an estimate, when they are going to put sod down, you name it- They just disappear and forget about you after telling you they will do something. I called Rodriguez thinking they were a sod farm because that's in their name. They're not. That means they have to buy from a sod farm and mark it up. When I called and asked directly, they said they didn't know how they got listed that way. Not believable. I did, however, believe them and asked them to come to my site and give an estimate. I calculated the area at 3800sf. They came in at 6800. Not believable. Call another company and they came in at 4300sf. Closer to my number. I hired them. These are the facts. ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! STEER CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY! I hired them for a sod installation job yesterday. They cut out my old lawn and immediately laid the new sod without killing the roots of the old vegetation. The owner (Manny Rodriguez) was adamant about only wanting to make one trip for the job. That's indicative of being concerned about his own time/expense instead of me as the customer. Nevertheless, I could get past the immediate installation by ensuring that the lawn would be professionally treated. Here's where things go from bad to worse: The sod was installed mid-day, so I decided to wait until sundown to give it a good first watering. That's when I noticed that 3 or more of my sprinklers had been completely covered, preventing them from popping up. Additionally, one of the heads in a different zone was completely busted during the removal of the old lawn. I spoke with them the following morning (today), expressed my displeasure and the fact that my new sod was at risk without water. I was assured that someone would be out and fix the problem by noon. Noon came and went...no body showed up, nobody called. I called the office and was told that their workers are running behind and couldn't talk to the owner because he was "in a meeting." I relayed that I was stopping payment on the check written yesterday (which I did) and would only issue a new check if/when they would come out and fix the job today. Few hours after that.....still, nobody came nor nobody called back. They are the absolute worse and the last time I'll give them any business. Their work is shady and they're only concerned about your payment. Again.....STEER CLEAR!!! read more
