Knisley Law Offices - Columbus, Ohio Workers' Compensation Lawyers

Knisley Law Offices

(4 reviews)

Rating = 0/0 I had…read morethe most unprofessional experience with the Workmens Compensation lawyer Kurt Knisley. He violated several parts of the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct by threatening to put a lien on my claim, not once, but twice, for simply asking questions and expressing concerns. He violated the following core rules: Rule 1.2 (Scope of representation; allocation of authority) The client decides the objectives of representation, including whether to settle; the lawyer must consult with the client about means and keep the client reasonably informed. Rule 1.4 (Communication)Requires the lawyer to keep the client reasonably informed and to explain matters so the client can make informed decisions. Violation: Kurt Knisley did not inform me nor provide the details of the settlement demand until after the document was sent to the Respondent. He provided no option for the demand letter to be tailored according to my needs. Kurt threatened to withdraw as counsel and to place a lien on my claim in response to me asking him why this was done. Kurt Knisley decided to try to intimidate, instead of communicating and consulting. Rule 1.5 (Fees)Fees and expenses must be reasonable, and any lien for fees must be based on a valid fee agreement and applicable law. Violation: Kurt Knisley used the lien primarily as leverage to silence my concerns. This is inconsistent with the requirement that fee practices be fair and reasonable. Rule 1.16 (Declining or terminating representation)Lists when a lawyer may withdraw but requires withdrawal to be done in a way that protects the client's interests. Violation: Kurt Knisley used the threat of withdrawal and lien in a way that materially harmed my case simply because I challenged his strategy and asked questions. Rule 8.4 (Misconduct)Prohibits conduct involving dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation, and conduct that is prejudicial to the administration of justice. Violation:The lien threat was knowingly misleading about Kurt Knisley's actual intention and was mainly used to coerce me into silence or agreement. I would not recommend Kurt for any Workmens Compensation case on these grounds. Kurts threats were retaliatory and coercive. A lawyer should not try to punish a client simply for disagreeing or asking questions. After all, it is a lawyers responsibility to keep clients informed, and represent their lawful objectives diligently.

My divorce attorney was excellent!…read more Ok, so after being with my husband for a few too many years, I decided I was done putting up with his crap and was filing for divorce. I came across Bergman & Yiangou's add in the paper (yes, sometimes I still read the paper) and decided to hit em up and give them a try. I called their office, their staff was extremely nice and made me an appointment to come in and see the attorney to get the ball rollin' (and let me tell you, the ball couldn't get rollin fast enough). I go in, fill out the paperwork, meet with the attorney, pay for the dissolution and within a couple of weeks I had a court date (may not even have been that long...its been awhile). My court date arrives. I am at the courthouse, my attorney is at the courthouse, my then husband is no where to be found (you have got to be kidding me...really?). So, I call his tardy behind and guess where he is???? In Bellfontaine, OH stuck in traffic (for those of you that don't know that is at least at 45min drive from Columbus). Great. If my divorce gets delayed, imma be one pissed off lady. So I go over to my attorney, tell him what is going on and he actually asks the judge to make us the last case to go before her so he can have plenty of time to get here. He finally arrives over an hour later, right before they call our names. We go in, agree to the divorce and whaaalaaa!! I'm a single woman. The didn't charge me any extra for having to stick around those extra hours and everything cost me less than $1000. I can't thank him enough for being so patient with my situation!

Misspellings in all of my court documents submitted by them. Called to talk to senior partner and he never returned my call. All they kept asking for was more money. Switched attorneys and you would not believe the difference, just in the office furnishings alone! Would never recommend or go back. Attorney Andrew Niese is terrible. I wish more people would write reviews.

Even though my mom's employer appealed every single claim in my mom's case, Mr. Monast and his team countered those to be able to provide my mom as much help as possible post injury. We worked with Monast Law at the start of the coronavirus pandemic till now. Much of our interaction was through phone hearings and email. However, Mr. Monast and the law team made sure to always reach out to us and speak before important dates. We also met him twice at in-person hearings and his demeanor and interaction with us made us feel like we were in good hands and that he genuinely cared. Through this law firm we learned so much about the entire worker's comp process, something we had never been exposed to before. Mr. Monast made sure to guide us through the steps along with his team. I appreciated Vickie, Wilma, Todd, and the others who always reached out to us to keep us updated on the case status and helped us with all the paper work. My mom's employer's lawyer made the process extremely prolonged and was difficult to work with; however, with the help of the firm we were finally able to reach a settlement. It was not as great as Mr. Monast wanted for my mom; however, it was my mom's wish not to continue further and settle, because it was a constant source of stress for her. I am happy that the case is now closed and my mom was able to receive the proper healthcare and compensation she deserved and needed at her most vulnerable time.
