I had to cancel my reservation due to a hospitalization. I used the app to cancel my reservation. I received two emails confirming my cancelation. I was charged one night for one room. When I called the hotel, I was told that I should have called to cancel and not cancel in the app. After going as high as I could with Hilton, the final decision was in the hands of this hotel. They could not tell me what I did wrong in the app and kept my $113.06. Marriott, here I come.​

Given that it's off 19 and almost to Holiday you can get the expected guests on occasion, but usually we have the place mostly to ourselves. The pool area is also pretty large and relatively clean - though as it gets later people tend to leave all of their stuff out there. Unfortunately, this visit was not a good one. The hotel was higher priced than normal and completely booked for a wedding. After hours and hours of waiting to see if the noise would die down, it didn't. We asked people gathering right outside of our door if they would please keep it down as the kids were trying to go to bed...that lasted about 2 minutes. This continued on well after midnight and the front desk said they would come ask the people to congregate somewhere else, but that never happened either. Being a light sleeper there was no way I was going to be able to sleep and left around 2 am with people still partying outside of our door, and throughout the hotel it appeared. As I said, this is not the norm and was unfortunate.

I have no problem with having to pay for a room if I am unable to show up - but there are no exceptions - none to this rule. Even during a hurricane, when it is impossible to get there & Downtown & the hotel parking lot are flooded, they will charge this fee. They also have a fee for a NO-SHOW on top of the fee they charge for the room. It is equal to the amount of the hotel room - so you are double paying for the room that no one stayed in, no one used and no one had to clean up. The staff is incredibly rude & they will hang up on you. If you know the area, the owners used to own the hotel dive Magnusen Hotel that was bulldozed.

I immediately went back to the front desk and told them but the person at the front desk told me that nothing could be done. I did not sleep that first night at all, as I am highly allergic to cigarette smoke. All she offered was air freshener, which, of course would not have helped. I called the front desk again and complained, but was told all the rooms were sold out. The next day, a different person at the front desk helped and got me moved to another room. That room was so refreshing after the first night of experience. They are doing construction and the first night I was on the first floor, which has not yet been renovated, and the second night I was on the third floor, which The entire second floor was shut down while I was there. Initially had two stars based on the terrible customer service experience that I had with the woman at the front desk, but they redeemed themselves with the next person who helped. Based on this, I would consider staying here again.
