I was very pleased with this choice for so many reasons. The resort is easy to get to being right off Route 6 mid-cape. The accommodations are clean and spacious (I did reserve a suite). The pricing is high enough to keep the riff-raff away, but not too high that you feel a large void in your wallet. Rooms were quiet which is also a plus when you are trying to relax and unwind. The resort is on the Blue Rock Executive Golf Course which makes this a destination for quieter vacationers compared to those on the water. If you have trouble with stairs, ask for a garden level unit as the other units require you to climb stairs without the aid of an elevator. The staff including front desk, Blue Rock Cleaning Girls, maintenance, golf course personnel, and restaurant waitresses were all very pleasant and accommodating. The only negatives for Blue Rock other than the stairs for those with mobility issues is the restaurant and lounge. Being as remote / isolated from the more touristy parts of the cape, I was looking for a place to watch the Red Sox vs. Yankee game on a rainy Sunday evening. However the lounge closes at 7PM which didn't fit those plans. This means you either have to go back to your room or get into your car and drive to the more touristy areas. Also, while the guide on the TV cable system lists many of the movie stations, most of those stations are not provided in room. On the positive side, I did have breakfast at the resort on two separate occasions and found the food to be more than reasonably priced. In fact, I would say that it is a bargain because two scrambled eggs with an English muffin and coffee set me back $5! I wouldn't have balked at $10 for this menu item, but was pleasantly surprised and very pleased considering how much everything else on the cape is. The golf course is also a tremendous value. As an executive (aka par three) course, golfers of all abilities are welcome. And unlike most other cape cod courses with insane greens fees and wait times, Blue Rock had ample tee times available and no long waits on any holes. Most surprising was the course itself which had some challenging holes, was more scenic that I imagined for being inland, and was in excellent shape. From tee to green the course was very well maintained. I expected to see many ball marks on the greens, but I was pleasantly surprised to see that most golfers were fixing their ball marks and divots. In short, I would definitely recommend Blue Rock Resort and Blue Rock Golf Course. I certainly plan to be back myself.

Thinking of staying here?…read more Don't. Our room was musty and had a large wet area of carpet near the mini-fridge. We reported this to the front desk and were told housekeeping would take care of it the next morning. But on the next day, when we returned at night after being out all day, we saw that we got NO housekeeping service at all: our bed was not made up and the wet towels were not changed. And of course the wet area was still wet. I had to go outside the next morning to track down a housekeeping cart to get fresh towels. I complained when we checked out and said we felt we shoud get a partial refund. I was promised that the manager would contact me. No one did. I called three times over the next couple of weeks. On the last call, I was told they never give refunds and the most they might do is give us a free night!

They supply free coffee all day long and free cookies served each night, which is a nice touch.

We booked a 10-day stay, looking forward to a vacation we had been anticipating for months. Instead, the room was filthy upon arrival, basic services were neglected, and the beds were painfully uncomfortable. By the third day, we had reached our breaking point and checked out early, losing the vacation we had spent months looking forward to. In all my hotel stays, I have never experienced such a disappointing combination of poor cleanliness, inadequate service, and lack of basic comfort. What should have been a relaxing vacation quickly became an exhausting ordeal. After checking into our assigned room, we quickly discovered that it was far from clean. There was long, black hair everywhere: on the countertops, in the bathtub, on the tile floor near the kitchen sink, and even in large clumps underneath the vanity. I immediately went to the front desk and spoke with the GM, Elissa. She was very apologetic and sent a housekeeper to our room shortly afterward. Unfortunately, once the housekeeper finished supposedly re-cleaning the room, hair was still scattered throughout. I didn't want to return to the front desk a second time, so I did the best I could by washing some of the surfaces myself. Unfortunately, the problems didn't end there. We visited the breakfast buffet all three mornings and the experience was consistently disappointing. The dining area was overcrowded, food and beverages were not replenished in a timely manner, and only one waffle maker was operational, resulting in lines of 8-10 people deep. The juice machine was out of order, leaving only coffee and tea as beverage options, which was particularly inconvenient for families with children. The oatmeal, milk, and cereal were also depleted. Overall, the breakfast service was poorly managed and fell well below our expectations. Housekeeping was inadequate throughout our stay. Soap dispensers were left empty, no fresh towels were provided, and trash was never emptied. Basic housekeeping services were noticeably lacking and fell well below expectations. The biggest issue, and ultimately the reason we checked out early, was the extremely uncomfortable beds. The pullout sleeper felt like sleeping directly on mattress springs, leaving my daughter with severe neck and shoulder pain. The king-size bed was just as uncomfortable, leaving my husband and I tossing and turning all night and waking up with neck, back, and hip pain. None of us could get a decent night's sleep, making it impossible to enjoy our stay. Before leaving, we spoke with Elissa again and explained the numerous issues that forced us to cut our 10-day stay short after just three nights. Although she was apologetic, she offered no compensation or adjustment despite the circumstances that drove us to leave early. This was one of the most disappointing vacations we have ever experienced. We had looked forward to it for months, and having previously enjoyed this hotel, we were especially disappointed by how poorly this stay went. I would not recommend this hotel. For the price, guests should be able to expect a clean room, functioning facilities, adequate housekeeping, and comfortable beds. Unfortunately, even these basic expectations were not met, and the lack of any compensation only added to our frustration. Save yourself the disappointment and look elsewhere.

The Surfcomber caught our attention as it is mid-Cape and on the beach-two plusses for us. We were very happy with the hotel, staff and location. We enjoyed the private beach, which was a short walk from our room. I would recommend the Surfcomber as a nice no frills hotel with great beach access. It was definitely a hidden gem for us.

Not only was she very attentive, but she took the time to show us on a map where to go for dinner, what beaches to hit, and the general hot spots in the area. You can tell she really cares about the hotels customers. The only suggestion would be for the housekeeping not to turn off the AC in the rooms when they're in there for cleaning. It was such a hot week and we came back to the room on several different days to see that the windows had been open and the AC off. It was actually warmer in the hotel room than it was outside. All-in-all, I'd absolutely stay here again. Such a great location, close to town, the beaches, and to our friends in the area.

During the day, we called to confirm it had been fixed, and we were assured that it was. When we returned at the end of the day, however, it was unlocked and had been all day. We went to the office and the person on duty called the owner....who offered us a "gift bag" and 50 dollars off of a multi night stay. When we asked him to compensate us appropriately, he said he would not budge. This was a completely inappropriate response to a serious safety and security issue. The owner knew we had stayed there many times and brought him many customers, but did not care. We will never return to this hotel.

Though it sort of looks like a motel on the outside, we were delighted with our room (#19). We picked that room as it had a kitchen area, large living space and a deck out back overlooking the pool. Small but very functional and up to date bathroom with some decent soap/shampoo, etc. Very well located as we were in Harwich Port, Orleans and Chatham and could easily and quickly get where we needed to go. Upon arrival, we were told that they could not promise specific rooms and when I showed the email, I was completely brushed off. In fact, the lady at the desk turned her head to avoid laughing in my face. There was zero attempt to make this mistake right. The walk way to the room was covered with overgrown bushes that were unavoidable. Additionally, there was food from a previous guest in the fridge. And finally, the straw that broke the camels back, I went to the office to ask for more towels. Not only was I treated poorly, but I was grilled on why I needed additional towels. Asking for extra towels is normal in a hotel. I did address these concerns with the owner, but I was again brushed off. She did offer a discount if we wanted to stay again, but who would want to be treated poorly again? I am sorry but no thanks! I would not recommend this Inn to anyone looking for a place to stay in the Cape.
