I wasn't sure what to expect at first since I've only ever been to the big corporate gyms. My experience from the get-go was nothing but positive. The team here works with you from an all-around wellness approach. Two weeks after signing up, I ended up getting sick and felt derailed. But the kindness and care package that arrived in my mailbox from the team here was encouraging and immediately set the tone for the relationship I have with this gym. In the three months of working with Evan at L&L, I have made more progress than in all of the months no wait, years, of training elsewhere. Why? Well I think it comes down to the personalized, total-wellness approach. I like that you have an app that keeps you connected to your trainer and links with MyFitnessPal. This added layer of accountability has been great for me. I've logged into MFP for 100 straight days - more than ever before. And it is an encouragement when Katie sends you a message for sticking with tracking food. Speaking of which, I appreciate the approach of focusing on macros instead of just calories. This has helped me tremendously as I've been working on strength. I have started looking at food more as fuel for the body. Don't get me wrong, I still like to eat... but at least now I have a greater awareness of what is going to work for me. I have a customized program that is tailored to me. For as much as we work on getting stronger, there is significant time spent on pre-habbing and focusing on recovery. It's amazing what rest, lacrosse balls and foam rolling can do to improve movement. I haven't lost a whole lot of weight yet, but that goal has been set on the back burner as I realize how weight alone is not a great measure of wellness. There are multiple other measure of improvement, and I'm seeing those. You'll get out of it what you put in, but it seems easier to put in the effort when you have a supportive group of well-educated people rooting for you. I highly recommend at least checking Lion & Luxe out. They offer yoga and massage in addition to personal training. The atmosphere is relaxed and familiar, and VERY supportive. In this era of separation from others, when you're likely streaming an exercise video at home and completing it solo (vs going to a gym or studio class), this was SUCH a nice way to exercise and commune with others! I was very pleasantly surprised what an uplifting  difference I felt from my typical yoga and meditations -- after attending a virtual Yoga & Meditation class with Melissa Kleehammer with and about 60 others. I learned new-to-me poses and stretches. And LOVED the concluding meditation. And later in the evening when I was doing some P.T. exercises I've been prescribed, I noticed they were MUCH easier -- I have to assume it's from Melissa's yoga -- so it really WAS what was needed for "busy minds and tired bodies!" Overall, a wonderful, wonderful way to spend a cold, quarantined Valentine's weekend day. Super grateful to Melissa for leading us!

I never expected benefits to reach beyond physical. Yes, I know how to work out the stiffness now, my posture has improved and I generally feel healthier, but more importantly I feel settled and calm. The focus I have learned through practice is helping me work through all life's issues with a new-found confidence and calm. I am more mindful of the effects of my words and actions as well. Beyond Yoga aims to nurture the body and mind of all students. It is not an exercise class. The class sizes are purposely small so that the instructors can craft the practices to fit the needs and abilities of its students. No two practices have ever been the same. Each practice is well thought out and challenging. I always leave the studio feeling like I am going to make a positive impact on the day. I will practice for the rest of my life and I hope my instructors will always be near for support.

She…read moretakes a piece of inspiration and builds the practice around that, whether it's grounding, hip openers, restorative, arms, etc. It's awesome to be able to work at perfecting my form and feel like I get serious strength building and stretch it out in a well-paced class mixing it up between poses (versus repetitive vinyasa). She also diffuses essentials oils during the class, which is super refreshing and makes the whole studio smell great. Her prices are very reasonable -- try a drop in ($13) and if you like it, get a class pass (10 for $115). She has yoga mats, blankets, blocks, and straps. It's also cool to see they're hosting wellness based classes too like DIY chapstick and lotion making classes. The wellness piece of her practice blends throughout everything the studio offers beyond yoga.

I've been going to Mikes classes for 2 years now and have lost over 15lbs and I'm back down to my…read moresize 4 from my 20's! Mike is an amazing trainer and very fun so the time flies by. He does a different routine of weights, cardio, core and abs every day. The flooring in the gym is all new and the temp is great - the high ceilings are awesome so you never feel claustrophobic even with a full class. I love this gym. Kerry and Greg (the owners and instructors) would call it a "school of strength,"…read morewhich is probably more accurate. I've learned a ton from them and their workouts are great. I have been going for six months and I feel 5X stronger and the hip & knee pain that I've had for 25 years (and for which I've done my share of PT) has almost completely resolved. The monthly cost for group classes is right, given that if they were located in a big city they could probably charge that much for a single personal training session with kettlebells. The classes themselves are personalized as much as possible--I've been in classes with 20+ year-old guys trying to get jacked and 60+ year-old women working to regain their mobility--Kerry deftly manages to make sure we all get what we need. Morning classes tend to be older students; evening classes tend to be younger but I've not felt out of place in either (well, I once tried one of their kick boxing classes but that is NOT my thing! My fellow students seemed to enjoy it though). Kerry & Greg are certified through Strong First which is apparently a big deal. I commute about 15 minutes 2-3 times a week to get there (not something I've been wont to do in my life). I'm especially glad to be able to support a high-quality, local, and family-owned business rather than a big fitness chain.
