The other thing is, this is the only bar in town, so it's by default the BEST bar in town. I'm gonna actually put it in one of my top five faves of all time. If you want to feel like you're drinking in an art gallery slash old bank building while looking at an ornate bar and being served by a pretty bartender, well, obviously this is the place you want to be. Bonus: clean bathrooms.

The only downside during my visits would be people smoking directly outside the entrances. Since the restaurant uses large open garage-style doors, the smoke easily drifts inside and can affect the entire dining area and bar. For those with allergies, sensitivities, or anyone who simply prefers not to eat surrounded by cigarette smoke, it can really take away from an otherwise great experience. A designated smoking area farther away from the entrance would go a long way toward making this already awesome place even better. Overall, Blackie's is a fantastic spot with great food, a fun atmosphere, and definitely worth stopping by!

4.5 Stars but let's just round it to 5…read more So on a road trip honeymoon to Dublin and Paris, Texas that is, brought us first to Dublin. The home of Dublin Soda(formerly Dr. Pepper) and Granny Clark's huge pancakes. Me and life partner wanted to recreate our trips to Ireland and Paris, but alas on a budget. In Dublin, Texas everything supports the idea of its humble Town. I thought what best way to honor our trip was to seek out an Irish or seemingly Irish Pub. I will say I have had the pleasure of going to an Irish Pub in Kimmage. I think people fixate too much on the merits of the authenticity of a place. For example the process of serving a proper Guiness pint or even Irish Pub fare. They tend to forget what makes an Irish Pub. It is really in its vibe. Are the owners friendly and good hosts? Does it have a fun and welcoming energy? Is it that neighborhood hangout where you want to camp out friends, family or loved ones? My answer is a resounding yes. We came here on a Thursday night and it wasn't too busy. When this occurs this is the optimal time for owners to make a connection to its patrons. Firstly the owners said two things: Welcome and is this your first time here. Simple niceties don't cost a thing but are invaluable. The soundtrack of a place always dictates its crowd. I noticed the soundtrack is 90's with Color Me Badd, freestyle stuff and other nostalgic music on rotation. The noise level is perfect to facilitate conversations I ordered the Cluck of the Irish. And my life partner had "The Thing." Each were both appropriate bar fare. I had a Guinness from a can and Killian's Red Ale from a bottle. My only critique is they need to offer Guiness on tap. It doesn't need to be on Nitro. I don't expect the pour to be exactly like the one I had in Dublin. I will say I like it's subtle touches: the use of Celtic iconography, leprechauns and four leafed clovers. It is absolutely charming. Before I go on I must mention that the food was good, the service was excellent. The owners are extremely friendly. Each time I requested a refill the owner would oblige me and would pour a beer for me. And I can't pour a pint to save my life. Every business should be viewed in the context of where it's located. Shenanigans is in a very small town. It has Dublin Soda to claim. I believe there is only one supermarket. On a Friday night this place becomes the epicenter. And rightfully so. It is a fun place for friends, couples and families. As we were leaving it was filling up. They needed to cue House of Pain's, "Jump Around."

Genuine Guinness Stout is not served on tap nor does this establishment carry the bottles. All that…read morethey had on hand were cans of Draught (the rattle can) which tastes nothing like traditional legitimate Irish Stout. I waited a solid 5-10 mins for wife's food and had no choice to start eating as it was getting cold. I finished my meal and still no pizza. Was told 3 more mins and about a solid 10-15 mins later her pizza came out. Really need to work on timing of food I guess... wife had to watch me eat mine and now as I'm typing I'm waiting on her to enjoy her food... Beer was ice cold. Chicken fried steak was amazing and Pizza pretty darn good the ranch is good!! saved it from a 1 star review. Waitress was good nothing she could do it was all on kitchen poor timing... Price wasn't terrible but nowadays you can't leave most sit down places with out spending over $60 or so.. For maybe 4 tables full and a couple at the bar. Sad to say this place won't last much longer.. it's good food but over the hour we've waited/ate it was just to dead to survive.. if it was in Stephenville I'd bet it would be packed and doing well!! Just a poor location.
