All of your sports are reported late. You cover more on small towns than Rockford. Guilford HS had the best basketball team in Rockford last year & you could only find one person on Guilford that is good out of 75 top players. Very very poor reporting. We have gotten the paper for over 50 years & it is time to quit. read more

I purchase a subscription delivered to us because an elder in our home must have a daily printed crossword and news. Was not able to set up auto renewal as there were a couple hacks on our bank account. I expected to receive a renewal notice but it has never been received. So, after 2 days of no paper i call and set up a subscription on autopay finally. The call was on June 9 and the person taking the call said the renewal was effective on June 11. So, we waited....and waited.....and i called again on June 16 and the person said she would check. She said the paper should have started mail delivery on June 11 as i was told. She again put me on hold and came back saying they just received my payment on June 16. What she should have said is THEY JUST PROCESSED IT ON JUNE 16. This is a very inept group running the paper as this is not the first time things like this have happened. I made certain to ask that the 5 days be added to my subscription but i am sure if i check it won't. Just figures read more

GateHouse Media purchased Gannett USA Today last year. Gannett owned the Rockford Register Star. So unfortunately, not any responsible journalism in the Rockford Register Start anymore that reports national news important to the Rockford, Illinois and Northern Illinois. Tried reading the Chicago Tribune and it's really awful. Sad really. Have to go online to the New York Times and Washington Post to get any newsworthy information on the national level. read more

Communicated with the circulation manager via email and received for copies of the same days paper and then nothing. Called them up and canceled my subscription.. now I have to wait a month for my refund. read more

This is a horrible newspaper- not worth the money. It has very little local coverage- almost the same as buying a USA Today. I subscribed for a $1 for 6 months deal and now I can't get them to cancel my subscription. Poor customer service read more

In the last 5 days, I have only received one paper on time, that was Tuesday. The Sunday paper was delivered at 8:30. When I did get the Sunday paper, it did not have all the inserts in it. Have called many times and yet nothing has been done to correct the delivery problem. I am still waiting for a call back to date. Have paid for a year and they are not delivering. This is the second week in the last few weeks that this has happened. The first time, they told me that they were having issues with the delivery person. This is just an excuse, not solving the problem. Talking to anyone in Rockford seems to be impossible. It is very frustrating; you can only talk to people in Fort Lauderdale. FL. Ever since they moved to printing the paper in Milwaukee WI, the quality of the paper and the service keeps deteriorated more and more from the quality the paper once was. I have been a loyal customer for over 30 years. I am at my wits end and about ready to cancel my subscription and go to MacDonald's to read it. read more

Very frustrating! Every single time I call to inquire about my new Subscription, they hang up before I can finish my sentence. Which was...I was supposed to be billed 9.99 a month for a full Year, why are you billing me triple that...yeah 30.00! They hang up after being on hold numerous times! Called to inquire, was told my subscription had expired, I told the csr I was looking at the bill and I still had 2 weeks before it expired.... this is one messed up company. I am disabled and it is difficult for me to leave my home. I recently moved to a hi-rise for convenience. I continued to receive my paper with no problems for the first couple of weeks. Then during an 8 day period I received a paper 2 times. Each day with no paper I called and was promised one would be delivered. Never got them. I am still unable to get a paper delivered to me. No wonder they have to offer incentives to lure you back. If any other company operated under this fraudulent method the would be sued. read more

Warning businessman. If you plan on running a classified ad with this newspaper be prepared to be charged six times the rate they charge the general public. WhatI was Quoted approx $90 through their online create your own ad. Ad was refused and I was reqouted $562.00. A rotten way to treat the local business community. I can't even begin to describe the ineptitude of the customer service / subscription service. It starts all innocent - they offer me 3 months for $36.40 and then charge me $105.87. Then spend the entire three months telling me that they need 15-30 days to refund me my money. Now, several months after going back and forth with customer service, through a handful of different representatives and "supervisors", I receive a bill in the mail for another $23.72 for a month of paper I never received! But wait, they will cut that in half if I will just renew my paper for another 13 weeks. Are you kidding me? I want my nearly $70 refund from the overcharge from January! We are almost 8 months into the year - and I think I have waited for the prerequisite 15-30 days. They are crooks. What sucks is that they have the power to send me to collections - and I have no recourse for the money they stole from me! read more
