I went today with 2 other friends, we bought the offer from livinsocial, (like two months ago). At the beginning I was so frightened, I'm 6.5 and 235 pounds so I'm in the limit of the equipment. The staff, very professional and very kind helped me trough all the process, the training was very informal, because after I flew the first time it was very natural and common sense for me. They give you shoes and a helmet, the helmet has some headphones so you hear radio instructions when in the water. They don't let you handle the "trust" as is an extra variable for you to be aware. So an operator is helping you giving you more "throttle" remotely from the deck. Believe me, trying to balance my body with the jet-pack on was more difficult than flying. I got the 30 minutes offer and flew at least 15 minutes. The weather helped me a lot, the water was warm and was a beautiful day in Ft. Lauderdale. This is a once in a lifetime experience, I really recommend it to anyone that can afford the price tag. (Yeah, it's expensive but all motorboat sports in Florida are, and this one is not usual). The equipment is basically a "jet-ski" with the water exhausts on your back. I definitely will ride it again with some friends. read more

If I could leave 0 starts, I would. Got a groupon for 30 minutes of the jet pack as a gift for hubby. He tried for the entire month of August to schedule and they either gave him the run around, said would call and never did, or they were "full" long story short, I had to call Groupon and request a refund. I will never deal with this business again, and I encourage other not to either. I see now there are quite a few reviews with the same issue I had. The level on unprofessionalism it's not acceptable. read more

Rocketman is a great idea, but it should be mentioned at the beginning that the 30 minute experience could be 10 or 15 minutes long and that flying is not guaranteed. I think I was in water for maybe 20 minutes or less and got to fly out of the water for a second (wasn't allowed otherwise). My friend, who went after me, struggled a little (it's really not so easy to fly this thing) and was in water for about 15 minutes (5 minutes or so of which he was left just floating without anyone around). The staff was not very patient with him and they cut his experience short. They decided to go to their van for few minutes, while he was still far in the dirty lake, possibly to take care of the next customers or god knows why. I'm sure he will not get the DVD - there was no time to film anything. This experience was quite disappointing - not worth the money. If he was writing this review, I'm sure he would give 1 star or 0 if possible. read more

Unreliable, unprofessional, unorganized, untrustworthy kids that don't know what they're doing and run poorly maintained equipment. The concept is super cool and my wife knows that I can't wait for the Martin jet pack to come to the US and that I like high adrenaline activities so she got booked me a flight for Father's Day as they were going to be in Chicago. We arrived on time to find their Van stuck in the sand and they were scattered don't know their heads from their tail. After an hour of wait they gave me worn out diving suit and life jacket. I had my GoPro on with the head strap but after I was in the water listening to instruction one of the two stooges came in and through a helmet to me saying wear this. Unfortunately the helmet was missing the buckles. I would stay away from this crew but I hear that the guys at Fort Lauderdale are much different. read more

My wife surprised me with a jet pack experience for my birthday, which was an amazing surprise. Unfortunately she picked the wrong company to fulfill it. After waiting an hour at the location and calling several times, NO ONE SHOWED UP. After repeatedly calling their number we were finally able to get Ashley on the phone who said she had no idea what was going on. After my wife had to call her back to figure out what was going on, another 30 minutes passed when Ashley stated that the guy was on his way and would be another 30 minutes. We decided to pass and get a refund. The refund turned into another saga that is still pending 20+ phone calls, 14 voicemails, and many emails later. Each time we call and finally get someone on the phone (which is difficult by itself), we are given the run around. Our experience thus far makes this entire company and jet pack experience from Rocketman feel like a SCAM!!! We did book with another company a couple days later and I had an amazing experience. I just got back from doing The Rocketman. I did much better than I thought I would. I had great control which allowed me to go WAY up in the air. The guy before me said that he barely got up to 3 feet above water which I'm sure wasn't what he planned on and put a damper his experience. I did belly flop a few times from about 30 feet which was SCARY! It's certainly not 100% safe but regardless it got my adrenaline pumping! read more

I went flying in the Remote throttled Jet pack yesterday and 5 of my best friend did too. The guys: All got air borne, well mostly, because we were still attached to the powerful jet drive that produces enough thrust to get you 30 feet into the air. It feels like its got enough power to go higher but the hose limits you. It can rockets you a foot over the water or in the water at 20-30 MPH. Its not really for the faint at heart. In the water it has a cool Superman feeling to it cause there is nothing in front of you. I hovered and did slow donuts on my second flight at about 10 feet over the water. Its definitely something you NEED to get the hang of. My second flight was night and day more fun. The instructors/ safety guys were Mike at the throttle on the remote and Jordan (USMC) in the water. The girls: only one of the girls got airborne for more than a minute but MY girlfriend was the ONE that got about 15 feet over the water and almost 5 minutes of air time. She could fly the whole time if she did it again. It can power you underwater and then into the air or the other way around again too. The only thing is its like a jet ski in many ways (powerfully dangerous) the remote throttle,and water proof helmet radio make it safe. It was easy to understand Mike's commands but, some are easily intimidated by instruction and this very very powerful machine. I would love to get one except it cost close to $200K to buy one. I'm out on buying one, but I will go again. read more

Stay away from Riderocketman Fort Lauderdale! What a scam this place is. I purchased the Living Social coupon and scheduled my flight during my vacation in FL. I even extended my trip an extra day so that I could go. They called me less than 24 hours before the flight and told me they were doing "maintenance on the machines" and would have to cancel on us. I have a suspicion that they had people willing to go for full price, so they didn't want to take the living social voucher. This was disappointing in itself, but it gets worse! I called and emailed with them for weeks to try and get my refund. If they even responded to my emails they told me they were looking into how to proceed with this issue, and they finally just stopped responding to me. This is a dishonest and sleezy business! Also, do not trust the 5 star rating from "Jennifer K". She works for the company, and is the person that I spoke to when I called and she promised to at least email me to let me know the status of my issue, but has stopped responding to my inquiries. I would not put your life in the hands of these people. read more

Signed up for the Groupon to use while we were visiting Chicago. I went with my 17 year old son and we both had a FANTASTIC time! We both got as much flight time as we could handle (it is tiring). The staff was very friendly and accommodating. I would defiantly do this again. read more

This is not a kiddie ride and takes skill and balance. Think about skiing, snowboarding, and surfing. You don't normally walk up and do these things in 10min. although there are the select few that maybe have. But for normal folks it will be a challenge. In light of this get the 30min ride. Absolutely do not waste your time or money. Rocketman recently acquired Zaino Jet and before the gift certificate for my husband technically expired (even though the gift certificate, which was written on a piece of printer paper, never mentioned an expiration date and neither did the sales rep. who sold me the gift certificate), I was promised that because of the merger, disorganization and lack of terms and conditions, that my husband would be able to fly on an upcoming date. When I followed up to confirm that date, no one returned my emails or calls for weeks. After I left a final and very upset voicemail, I received an email back stating Rocketman AND Zaino Jet are NO longer in business (even though Rocketman's voicemail currently says that they only do group and corporate trips). When I emailed back to confirm what is really going on as it was only 4 weeks ago that I was informed of their merger, now I'm finally being emailed (after being avoided) that both operations don't exist and their voicemail says they do exist but only for group and corporate trips - I'm not getting any answers. Unfortunately, I find myself using my Yelp account to specifically warn people about truly irresponsible businesses. The call is always your own, but I feel it's important people should know what they are getting into. I'll never see my money again and as long as they dodge any responsibility by not answering emails and phone calls, they don't need to fulfill the gift certificate flight, either. So I'm left with no solutions and out $300 / the flight experience. read more

Tried to schedule a rocketman flight for my husbands birthday while they were in Chicago. They were offering a Groupon, but I made the reservation through the company because there was no price difference. They cancelled the original appt. and when asked for my refund they offered me an additional flight if I could come the day after. I agreed and invited a buddy to come along. They called the morning of and cancelled again and I told them I wanted a refund. They said ok, checked my bank and no refund. Waited a week and finally had to file a dispute with my bank. When pressed, the secretary told me that this time it was because the owner decided to change location. Who does that 1 week before?!
