The children's minister here is the rudest one I've ever encountered. She sours the experience.

The vision is clear and biblically aligned with the Great Commission. It is written everywhere, spoken about consistently, and lives in the hearts of the people. The pastor has built an incredible team of staff and volunteers who carry the mission forward in a way that is not dependent upon him. The name of Jesus is magnified and there is excellence in everything that is done no matter how big or small. The presence of the Holy Spirit is evident and powerful every service. If you are looking for a church home, do not skip over City Reach without carving out time for a visit.

Thankfully, a good friend of ours recommended City Reach; and after checking out the church over a couple of Sundays, we made our choice. We enjoyed and continue to be delighted by the friendliness of the church member community here. The parking team does a wonderful job each Sunday to make sure we find a parking spot, and they have a shuttle that brings us to the entrance. Drip coffee and hot tea are provided if you'd like to enjoy a hot beverage while worshipping and listening to the sermon. The worship teams are truly in the spirit and sing in the name of Jesus. The worship sets are powerful and we can feel the Holy Spirit moving within us, and we see how others around us have been impacted as well. The pastor is unapologetic in preaching what is written in the Bible. He doesn't add fluff but stays true to the Word. His expository style is appreciated as he highlights the main ideas while calling out key points. They also have a children's program, from infants through high school. Their new campus is beautiful and has several parking lots to choose from. There is also overflow parking available with a shuttle provided. City Reach Church isn't charismatic nor is it traditional (we've been to both kinds in the past), it's actually fun and we look forward to going each Sunday! The style here is unique, though it's not necessarily for everyone. If you're curious to learn what a relationship with Jesus looks like, are new in your walk with Jesus, or if you're looking for a new church home, we highly recommend giving City Reach a try!

I arranged to meet a church member to get a feel for the place on a Sunday morning. The campus is massive--parking was a nightmare, the sermon hall felt like a stadium, and the hallways were a maze. The sermon itself? Same generic message I've heard countless times. I was craving something bold, raw, and real--something to shake me out of my rut. This wasn't it. The sheer size of the congregation--thousands of heads in front of me--made it impossible to feel seen or connected. I had some hope with the church member who showed me around. He was kind and I opened up about my struggles, but the follow-up was disappointing. I got a text from him six weeks later. Excited for a potential connection, I replied quickly. His response? Two days later. This pattern continued--me responding promptly, him taking days to reply. When he finally suggested coffee, I shared my availability right away. Three days later, he responded. By then, I was done. I told him politely to forget it. Suddenly, he was texting back instantly, insisting he wouldn't "let me go." It felt forced and too late. With their $15,000 to $20,000-a-year per student private school, pristine facilities, and massive attendance, it's clear Hill Country doesn't need me--or you. I came looking for authentic Christian community and left feeling invisible. After this, I've given up on finding a church. If you're seeking a personal, engaging faith community, this might not be the place.

We wanted to get more involved so we went a small group in Cedar Park for a while. I also worked with a young fellow who attended the church. Then we interacted with members on Facebook . The common thread is that they HATE. Not brown people , not poor people but Republicans. I don't remember any of them calling attention to Jesus . No room for anyone of different viewpoints. It's an "us" versus "them" hotbed. . So much for "no perfect people ... emphasis on the word ALLOWED since they no doubt run everyone else off. One of their "members" Nancy even said on FB that NO Christian SHOULD honor Charlie Kirk. I'm sure it's a wonderful place if you believe there should be only one political party in the US. .... Something about the culture there since it's the common denominator , Right ? If it's a root level ground swell of members so be it ... but if it's a top down thing : James 3:1-12 Amplified Bible (AMP) Not many [of you] should become teachers [serving in an official teaching capacity], my brothers and sisters, for you know that we [who are teachers] will be judged by a higher standard [because we have assumed greater accountability and more condemnation if we teach incorrectly].

We all know about Bonds and the Astros, but why Life Church? An asterisk is used to reference omission. Barry Bonds hit all those home runs but omitted the fact that he did it under the influence of steroids. Life Church deserves such an asterisk. Their website's homepage states: "Life Church is a different type of church. Since its beginning, the church's approach has always been to offer a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere where people can come as they are, regardless of their background, and experience a relationship with Jesus Christ." Nothing could be further from the truth. Dig a bit deeper and the church website states its values as "All people matter under God, so they matter to us", "Anyone can come as they are", "God changes us to be like Jesus", "God created us for community", and "God calls every one of us to be a minister and missionary in every moment". Again, insert asterisk here. My family recently moved to Texas from Tennessee where I have been a lifelong member of a southern Baptist church. When we arrived in Liberty Hill, we wanted to find a church in which we could thrive as a family, where our kids could participate in youth group, where we could get involved in community outreach and missions and thrive as Christians. On the recommendation of neighbors, we attended our first Life Church service in late 2021 and were impressed with the welcome we received and the way they were organized around checking our children in and out of the kids' church. We enjoyed the service, and the kids loved their program, and for the first time ever, told us they'd like to go back to church. After months of attendance, involvement, meeting wonderful people, making donations, kids attending camp, and a particular sermon by the lead pastor about the importance of being a member of a church, Life Church, or another, we made it official and signed up for their membership class and took advantage of their opportunity to join and get more involved. Following an email from the individual in charge of the elementary program at the church welcoming me to the team as a volunteer and outlining the process of volunteering for the youth ministries, I received a subsequent email from the lead pastor stating we should "probably address the elephant in the room". We welcomed the lead pastor to our home for the conversation, which started with his asking about our journey in Christ. We both told our stories and gave details of our relationships with God, the church, and even our family. As the conversation continued, he kept saying this is such a difficult situation we're in. We still weren't clear what situation he was talking about. So, I finally just put it out there on the table. "Are you here today to talk about the fact we're a same sex couple? A couple that has been together for twenty years? A couple that loves the Lord, are born again Christians and want to worship and praise the Lord just like anyone else?" He said yes. How do you think Jesus felt looking down on that moment? I've never felt so judged, and by a minister, to make it even worse. The fact that he came into our home, drank our coffee, asked engaging questions, and then told us we are unworthy is just unacceptable. Life Church managed to do more damage to the faith of this family than it will ever realize or admit. Our kids have been rocked by this and they don't understand, since all they heard from the church for 8 months was that everyone is welcome, and God loves all. Now, kids that were so close in their relationship with Jesus are questioning everything. But we will continue to serve the Lord and won't let our relationship with God be deterred by the opinion of Life Church*.
