They had this weird crispy layer that tasted old. :( The tom yum kung literally only had two large prawns, some sliced button mushrooms (perhaps four in total), lacked the thickness due to coconut milk, arrived at room temperature and had some crunchy paste in it (perhaps they forgot to stir the tom yum paste - obviously not fresh). The Thai chicken green curry was two pieces of broccoli, four pieces of green beans, some chicken pieces, in a sweet creamy light green sauce. I felt like I was having ice cream as it was that sweet. So on a…read morerecent cold and wet Melbourne night when I had a hankering for something hot, soupy and delicious I decided to give Fomo a crack at my all-time favourite Thai test: Tom Yum. Such a simple dish is sadly so easy to bugger up, and it seems that so many places don't bother to get their Thai soups right because they have all those strifrys and curries to wow people with. I'm pleased to say that Fomo did a mighty fine job. Their Tom Yum is loaded with seafood, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass and what I think was shredded coconut bits. It came served with it's own little candle heater underneath so it remained hot as I slurped my way through it, dipping my sticky rice in to the broth. At just under $17 it certainly wasn't the cheapest Tom Yum I've ever had, but it was satisfying and very tasty and coupled with some rice and a Thai iced milk tea, I got out of there for under $25. Next time I'm keen to return with a group of friends, as the menu here is just a little bit different with seven types of Som Tum (madness!) and all manner of grilled meats to choose from.

Rice is extra and it was either jasmine rice or coconut rice. Waitress said coconut rice was too oily for her so I picked the jasmine rice. Served in a traditional dish, the rice was very nicely done. Service is OK. The cashier (might be the boss) was constantly talking to the two waitresses In Thai.
