However, this place did turn out to be rather delightful despite that, especially with the lovely beer garden out the back. Okay, in part it does feel like it was rushed together, but in a way it does have that old school, country charm about the place as well. Not as pretentious as the ones that you get in the city. In a way this place was rather delightful, and the service was pretty good as well.

The dish had both grilled and buttered ones. The veggies accompanying the dish were very fresh. Highly recommended, especially with the local merlot from St Anne. We also had the battered barramundi fish and chips. Nicely battered and light. The local apple cider went well with it. As we were exiting the restaurant, we noticed the best restaurant plaque on one of the walls. It had been a regular winner in this town. A definite affirmation of its food

I looked over just in time to see that indeed they had cleared our table including our drinks. No drinks were offered to replace the drinks we ordered. No discount on our churros. No apologies. We have hired a houseboat from Luxury on the Murray each year for the last 3 years, and we love it…read more The houseboats are HUGE. When you step aboard, you'll find a big kitchen with a large fridge (for all your beer and maybe some food) next to a good size dining and lounge area. There's a big screen TV (not that you'll watch it much) and a large couch. The bedrooms on the boat are small but comfortable, each with an ensuite. Upstairs you'll find your BBQ, another dining table and a big heated spa. While on the river, you can go fishing and swimming. You can also hire a tinny or kayak from a place in Echuca to take with you. Let me just warn you upfront... the boats are pricey. You're looking at about $3k for a long weekend in Summer, so you'll want to split that with as many people as you can fit on the boat. It's a damn good way to spend a weekend.

Then again, it could just be this particular line. This meant that I could leave my bags here and then go for a walk around Echuca while waiting for the bus to arrive. The station is also quite grand. It has a rather lovely atmosphere and charm about it, though unfortunately the trains don't come here as often as I like. Still, as a station it is quite lovely.
