I am a family practice physician from California and understand that Dr Burke must be extremely busy but at least his staff could have reached out to me as a common courtesy. Of course there are HIPPA laws but my grandmother was WITH me so could have given verbal consent or i would have been happy to pick up forms for her to sign. I expect that when a staff hears a family member is a physician they tell the doctor to return the call but i am not sure where the ball was dropped. I've been trying to get my prescriptions renewed for five days now and nobody returns my call. Their answering service will not relay any messages because my need of medication "is not a medical emergency". I tried the patient portal but that crashed too. I was permitted to book an appointment with this office less than three days ago. I was confirmed for that appointment less than 24 hours ago. To be told at 7 AM this morning when I walk into the office, but they no longer accept my insurance their office never notified me and as a patient of almost 20 years, I could pay out-of-pocket to see my doctor or basically go screw. You can imagine how that could be physically upsetting so when I never threatened anybody in the office and never used any foul language, but was visibly crying, trying to advocate for myself because I would love to know if I'm walking around with pneumonia As I'm working it out or thinking I am with the office manager being told that they dropped the ball and it's their fault. I have poor Suffolk County police officers walk up behind me to escort me out when I was never asked to leave, but to the contrary, asked to hang tight while they figured out what they could do for me.
