An old hospital building that opened in 1832, Rochdale Infirmary is part of the Pennine Acute Hospitals NHS Trust. Although over time services have been transferred to other hospitals within Greater Manchester, there are still many services offered here, which are useful for people who live within Rochdale.
The hospital can be hard to access if you don't have a car, it is almost a mile from Rochdale town centre and the bus which serves the hospital is not very frequent. This is made even more frustrating when considering the hospital car parking charges, which seems extortionate for a hospital. The drop-off and pick-up area is free, so if you can have someone waiting in a car, it will be cheaper.
The staff seemed nice enough, I was in and out quickly, but this was down to getting the last X-ray appointment of the day, and obviously, the staff were like me in the sense that they just wanted to get home.
There is a small Cafe inside.
3* - The hospital is fine, much better within the trust in terms of facilities and accessibility with everything being gradually transferred out. read more
