Stumbled upon this on a voyage to discover and experience all of Louisville metro parks locations. Very beautiful with lots to do. Has very nice soccer fields, tennis courts, a beautiful creek, a tiny but neat nature trail up a hill, a fun playground, a cool treehouse and a big gazebo area that can be rented out for the day. I can imagine for the locals this is a nice relaxing spot to enjoy great weather and nature and let there kids play. It's really is one of the more pretty parks I've visited in the Louisville area. Plus I imagine it's less populated then Tom Sawyer park locate nearby so it is more relaxing. Overall awesome park. I'm glad we found It. I enjoyed the views and the kids had a blast on the pretty elaborate and creative playground. It's a park that I'll absolutely make a return trip to.

There are restrooms usually open and available. There are plenty of trash cans too. Suggestions are to repair the benches to make them more usable and offer more picnic tables in good condition.

We had planned to play on there small playground but she fell asleep so we Chelsea out the scenery instead. They have lots of water that's ankle high and lots of rock that allows you to walk out in and get in the water. It also a few small trails that surround the park that lets you see yeh park from several angles. The park includes seven benches on the banks of the water for viewing pleasure. They also have a giant pavilion that can be rented out. Which looks like at one point was very impressive. Now it's not upkept and filled with graffiti. It's honestly the only eye sore here. Hopefully they clean it up. Overall cool place that looks like it has 3 different parking lots for different entry points. Although the water is low enough and there is a bough rocks to easily walk this small park and get to any entrance. We had a nice visit here and I look for art to coming back with my other kids and enjoying the exploring and playground.

Being a public park, the path is open 24/7. Right in the heart of St. Matthews, it's exactly what you'd expect. It's clean. It's safe. There's a small playground, tennis courts, scattered park benches. Two water fountains, one at each end of the loop -- complete with dog bowls. Nice tall trees offering shade on the loop's exterior, with wide open fields of well maintained lawn and decently maintained kickball/softball fields. Oh.. and horse stables literally across the street. ‍ 4 stars only because of the bathroom situation. If I was reviewing the Seneca Park bathroom alone, I'd give 1 star -- only because they exist, with a roof, lighting and indoor plumbing. The men's bathroom is always disgusting. Not well kept by any means. I don't think the soap dispensers have ever had soap when I visited. Once I did find a small bar of soap (like from a hotel). What if you want to wash your hands? -- spoiler alert: YOU SHOULD WANT TO WASH YOUR HANDS!! There's a 50/50 chance of having hand sanitizer or finding a toilet full of TP/BM and standing water that won't flush. Don't be surprised if there's a puddle around the toilet or a little surprise on the seat. Hep-A & C-Diff, anyone? Gross, I know. I also noticed there are no locks on the stalls. What if you want some privacy? It's hard to blame the Park when this is clearly the doing of people being gross, inconsiderate humans. Gentleman-- like, why?! Do better! In summary, Seneca Park is the perfect place to meet up for a workout or coffee w/ a friend. Definitely use the bathroom before you visit -- or at-least carry hand sanitizer and maybe keep some emergency toilet paper in your car.

The pavilion is next to the splash pad which makes for convenient seating in the shade. On the day we went there were just a couple families to come and go - so there was plenty of room. We did not need the bathroom but there was one close by. And a coke machine. The pad was smaller than expected and probably for younger ones. (10yr old got bored ) The park is very clean and well kept.

The area around and under all of the play structures is astroturf. Some of the play structures and the swings have shade clothes above them to minimize the effects of the sun. There are a few benches for supervising adults to rest on. My husband and I frequently include the park as part of our walks and it is always immaculate, including the play area. In addition to the picnic gazebo in the new extension, there are several picnic tables in the original part of the park. The park is perfect for a picnic lunch and stroll, or a picnic and play outing for children.
