It's hard to put into words how wonderful our experience was with David at MetalArc. We had…read morecompleted a beautiful high end kitchen remodel and the crowning jewel was to be the metal and glass cabinet doors that our architect had drawn in. However, the company she had used in the past wouldn't call me back. I found MetalArc using Google. And I'm beyond happy I did. First, their commitment to their craft is top notch. They will work diligently to get the project right. The level of refinement that we were looking for with these doors was not a hurdle they shied away from but rather they accepted the challenge and worked side by side with me to get it exactly right. The finished product is stunning, we couldn't be happier. Second, David's level of communication is a rarity. He is such a well spoken, clear and eloquent communicator. It is a lost art in today's day and age. I was impressed time and time again with his clarity and thoughtfulness in every conversation and email. This was truly a "project" that required communication and collaboration and he impressed me time and time again. Third, he is a good man whose primary goal was not only meeting but exceeding expectations. On top of being an expert in his craft, he has mastered being a good person. I can't say enough good things about him (and his brother, Joseph!). Thank you we will continue to sing your praises.

There were multiple measurement errors throughout the process. They mismeasured twice and had to come back to redo work, which felt sloppy and avoidable given the scope and cost of custom metalwork. More concerning were the alignment issues: the shelving did not align cleanly with the wall or even with itself. Metal Arc did not take accountability for these issues, and I was genuinely surprised that they considered this an acceptable finished deliverable. Because this was never properly resolved by Metal Arc, we ultimately had our painter use black tape to visually hide the gaps. That solution felt lazy and disappointing, and not something I expected to need after paying for custom work. Scheduling also added to the frustration. They were extremely evasive about confirming an installation date, which made it difficult to coordinate other contractors and keep our overall project on track. Communication throughout was another challenge. David was often long-winded and repetitive, which caused simple issues to drag on unnecessarily. He was also surprisingly aggressive about me not being present for a walkthrough, despite my husband being there, checking in multiple times, and being told by David's brother that he was "just there for measurements." I do believe they want to do good work, but they lack business professionalism, clear communication, and accountability. That combination created a lot of stress and uncertainty about whether we were actually going to reach a finished result. In the end, aside from the taped workaround, I'm happy with how the shelves look -- but the process was exhausting enough that I would proceed very cautiously or look elsewhere next time.

We wanted one of them converted to a hinged guard for emergency exit from a garden level room. I got estimates from three companies. Shield Iron Works offered the best price, but the prompt and detailed communications with Jordan at Shield were another factor in me choosing them. We ended up having Jordan sandblast and powdercoat all three guards (which were 48 years old with a scaling and rusting black finish). Jordan was able to match the hammer-finish dark silver-brown powdercoat of our newer security door, and all three guards came out looking great. It was an absolute pleasure working with Jordan from start to finish, and I'm very pleased with the quality and value of the work.

The owner called me as soon as he received our message on his answering machine, told me how to do the needed measurements, made the grates, and got them to me with no trouble, and all for a very reasonable price. And from two states away! The local business that I found to do this , had quoted me $350.00 per grate, ($700.00 for my two) when we first moved in to the home, six years ago. This company made them for less than $180.00 per grate. Even though they're in CO and I live in MT, they will get all of my future business for metal work. Definitely worth paying the postage. Excellent customer service, workmanship and honesty.

He came out to the house, gave a quote for a fence and handrail, showed multiple pictures of work he has done, signed a contract. He required a 50% deposit for material and the rest would be paid once the work was completed. As agreed upon in the contract, Anthony was to start 5/13 (didn't happen) and finish 5/23(never showed). Anthony had said material wasn't ready and his wife had an appointment and would come demo the fence 5/27 around 4:30pm. We had reached out 5/26 to confirm time- no response. Followed up 5/27 multiple times with no response or acknowledgement. It has been multiple days now with zero communication from Anthony. This has been reported as fraud. Save yourself the headache and DO NOT work with him.

He then took measurements, provided a quote, and sent me copies showing his business was in good standing. He asked for money down to purchase the supplies. Once he had the money, I checked in with him weekly to get a schedule and received the following responses over the last 3 weeks: 1) it took a while for the money to enter my account, 2) a guy who works for me hasn't picked up the materials, 3) my truck broke down and I have to be there to install it. He completely stopped responding 6 days ago to my calls or text messages. I have reported the incident as fraud.

Absolute. Nightmare…read more I got 5 estimates on a complete fence replacement. Ended up choosing Payless because Ben seemed very personable and had good Google reviews... I learned pretty quickly that I had been duped, and not to always trust Google reviews. There were multiple changes to the start date. Originally 4/21, then 4/23, then 4/28, then 4/30, then 5/5. Communication was poor at best - mostly, it was only when I reached out to him that I learned it was delayed yet again. He offered stump removal as a service for $150/hr. He showed up with a small grinder that was in no way adequate for the large stumps and two day laborers who were in no way skilled to do it. Grinder kept smoking and cutting out, and the guys were trying, but could only shave off parts of the stumps little by little. Ben had left, so I called him and told him to have them stop. He came back and was extremely agitated and argumentative. I asked him to calm down and said we needed to be able to have a normal conversation, but he wouldn't... Why would he bring the wrong equipment and guys who didn't know what they were doing? "That's all Home Depot had," and yelled, "I'm a FENCE guy, NOT a stump grinder guy!" His behavior made me extremely uncomfortable... So much so that I asked if I could just pay him for the one section of fence he took down and cancel the contract. He sneered, "Go ahead and cancel it, but you're not getting your deposit back." Mind you, not one bit of material had been delivered at this point, even though he had said he'd be bringing it and never did... Later, I received a text demanding $225 for the grinder rental before he would proceed with any work. I paid it (regrettably) -- I just wanted him to finish the work and be done... I paid to have the stumps ground by Davey Tree Service. Once he resumed (3 days later) he arrived far later in the day than he said he would - this would prove to be an ongoing issue. There was no fence between me and my neighbors, and I asked him to let me know when he'd be coming so they could keep their dog inside - he didn't do that, either... All of the delays resulted in my having to take additional days off work and cancel a planned vacation. Days later, I finally had ONE section of fence done. The day he was to start on another section, he texted me to say he was "Still figuring out post situation. Going have to go a different route and dig and set 10 ft posts." When I questioned this, as the contract stated that 12 foot posts would be used, he replied, "Also I have to weld up 2 more feet onto 10 ft posts since we are going according to contract, because I'm not spending what they're asking for them." Total breach of contract!! What he did with the $9,000 I gave him, I'll never know... It sure wasn't used to buy materials for my fencing. At this point, I'd had enough - told him not to come back until he heard from me. I needed to speak with my attorney, for sure... I also started doing a bit more digging into Payless Fence (I SHOULD have done this before I hired him and gave him a ton of money - kicking myself for this everyday...) His website had been taken down (he had one when I hired him,) he has NO business license and his LLC is delinquent. Wondering if he's gone out of business, left town, or ??? The old fencing had just been piled up in the alley behind my neighbor's. I asked when he'd be taking it away, heard nothing, texted him back 3 days later, and he said he'd be coming to get it that weekend. He never did. So I called 1-800-GOTJUNK -- $980 to have it hauled away. AND - no pressure-treated rot board on the one section he did, as in the contract. AND he didn't install a gate to replace the old one he tore down, which resulted in a clear opening from the street into the backyard. So I had to hire someone to build and install a temporary gate immediately for security purposes. I'm now in a credit card dispute through my credit union, have sent him a demand letter for what he owes me, and will pursue it in Small Claims Court if there is no resolution. I will update here.

I apologize for this review…read more Apparently the Fence builders did not, in fact, work for Payless Fence.
