I showed up for the appointment on time this morning and was told that they did not have the replacement air bag. The truck gets very poor gas mileage and at today's price I paid almost $20 round trip to Farnsworth for nothing and will have to make the trip again. Would seem like they would have known they didn't have the material when I made the appointment or could have at least called me to reschedule.

This normally involves everything that is checked during a state safety inspection, but with additional checks on the functionality of the vehicle and its systems (electrical, cosmetics, etc). I requested an engine compression test, and was told it would involve more time, which was fine. What I received: 10 photos of the undercarriage and two lines about the seller being old and needing to sell. No start. No compression test. No other photos. No evidence anything else had been examined. Chris was polite and apologetic, and he did adjust the invoice, but I was left with no clear idea about the vehicle, despite paying for exactly that service.

We got off at Manchester and googled auto repair and my wife found Crandall Automotive. The owner Mike answered the phone and we explained the situation. He was able to get us in his shop within about 15 minutes. He put the car up in the lift and quickly diagnosed it as a heat shield that had fallen into the driveshaft. He fixed it in about 20 minutes and didn't want to charge us very much for the repair. We were so grateful at how quickly he was able to address the situation and get us back on the road towards home.
